There hasn’t been many times we have put a photo of our little Food Hub Market on the gram. (Not pictured: the fridge full of veggies).

This little spot has heaps of products from local producers, as well as preserves and other foods made by our Staying Grounded program. We’re keeping it stocked for you across this month so you can browse and shop for gifts. There’s also all of the producer stories stuck around the fridge, so you can read about those that make up our local food system ✨

Cucumbers are here and we are oh so excited!

Madeline and Hannah captured here in their elements, Han farming and holding the fort whilst Farmer Fraser is away today, and Madeline doing a harvest of cucumbers 🥒 for your Veg Boxes. We’re so grateful to have these two for all of 2024 thanks to Future Healthy Food Hubs program - providing mentorship and funding for youth roles in food systems!

Our Staying Grounded program have been busy 👀

They have transformed beetroots from the farm that were tiny (that we didn’t want to burden you with in your beet bunches!) into a delish condiment for your eggs, with cheeses and in burgers.

And then there was a glut of lemons, so they made a perfect condiment for your toasties

Find these in our Christmas Hamper on the shop (or own their own) and give a gift that has so much impact!

All purchases go directly toward our Staying Grounded training and employment program, for migrant and refugee women facing barriers to work in the Greater Geelong region.

So much life flowed through our farm gates last Sunday with over 1800+ people in attendance at our first ever Harvest Festival. This day was an incredible landmark for us as an organisation and community hub. Our hearts were bursting with delight seeing patrons enjoying an array of food, beverage, live music, food systems chat, ferment and fungi workshops and the spectacle of local produce from the region.

We’d like to extend a massive thank you to all of you who came along and showed your support, it truely showed us the power and beauty of bringing people together through the connection of food. And of course huge thank you to the primary producers, local music artists, workshop facilitators and food vendors who really put on the show - our staff here were in awe of what beautiful community we were fortunate to host. We hoped this day served as an opportunity to get to know our local producers of the region and continue to support local!

Get your tomatoes in the ground quick! We’ve got many spritely looking tommy seedlings rearing for your home soils. We finished planting out our greenhouse with these gorgeous Grosse Lisse’s and have heaps leftover. Some cucumber seedlings too!

Parents and youth of the Surfcoast / Geelong region, it’s time to talk climate with our young people! (Ages 8-18)

The fantastic Annie Brien, a climate resilience practitioner, will be facilitating a wonderfully inspiring workshop engaging creative practices to support young people and families to process feelings around climate change. This workshop will motivate, uplift young people to feel empowered in their lives to develop actions they can practice to live sustainably.

Annie will lead young people and their parents through interactive activities, using their hands to get messy and creative to process feelings and support creative problem solving. Expect some clay play, water play and big brainstorming activities!

Participants will come away feeling positive about a challenging topic! This workshop will encourage families to think collectively about how to build resilience in their communities.
