🌾Judging of the ASC Field Wheat Competition was also completed this week. First place was taken out by Ben and Catherine Cruikshank with a crop of Scepter wheat sown on 14 May. This crop will be entered into the next stage of regional judging. Second place went to Rohan and Sophie Brill with a crop of Beckom wheat sown on 17 May and third prize went to the Smith family with a crop of Beckom wheat at Matong. 👏👏👏

There were 11 wheat crops entered with the variety Beckom being 5 of these. Beckom has been a reliable variety across the region for close to a decade now. Other varieties entered included Sunblade, Scepter, Calibre and Rockstar.

🚨A phenomenal 20 crops were entered in this years Ganmain Show Society All Crops Competition. Crops included canola, wheat, barley, faba beans and vetch. Frost damage was evident in most crops after the savage -3 event on 16 September ❄️😔. 8 judges travelled around the crops and picked their top 5 crops at the completion of the day.

Brent and Kendra Kerrisk took the competition out with a crop of 44Y94 CL canola. Most judges thought the crop could yield around the 2.5 t/ha mark or more - a great effort with around 200 mm rain since April 1. 👏
2nd place was Rohan and Sophie Brill with a crop of Beckom wheat. 🌾 3rd place went to KP & LM Corbett with a crop of PBA Nasma faba beans that had already been windrowed in preparation for harvest. 🚜

Sponsored by AGnVET Ganmain. Competition to be judged under the guidelines of the Agricultural Societies Council of NSW. Trophy donated by Ganmain-Coolamon Branch of NSW Farmers. 👏🏻

Anyone is welcome to come along for the day and join in the judging, whether it’s farmers, reps, bankers or colleagues. 😊

Ian Logan’s bar will be open from 12noon - 7pm (just after fireworks finale) serving beer, wine and some pre-mixed drinks. 🍷🍺🥂 You can also purchase Rowdy Crowd drink wear at the bar and then just pay for the re-fill.

Make sure you catch the live entertainment from Cosmic Castle Magic while you enjoy a beverage or two with mates. 🎤
