STEPH STRINGS, DIDIRRI and KEE’AHN are coming to Gippsland this December! We are excited to announce that we have teamed-up with ALWAYS LIVE and Lonely Lands Agency to present the inaugural 'Folk Sounds’ tour.

The tour will see the incredible Didirri, Kee'ahn and Steph Strings hit the road together for the very first time in a Victorian Exclusive.

The 4-date tour of Gippsland will see the three artists performing songs from their stunning catalogues in some of the best venues in the region. In keeping with the collaborative spirit of the tour and the artists themselves, they will each flip a coin to decide the playing order on the night.

It’s a rare opportunity to see all three of these acts on the same bill and not to be missed.

We are pleased and honoured to announce that NYE on the Hill 2022 won the inaugural ‘Event Excellence’ award at the Bass Coast Shire Council business awards on Friday night. Being our longest standing festival and hosted on our family farm this event holds a special place in our hearts. Huge thanks to everyone that worked and played at the 2022 festival! This award goes out to you all for making it such an amazing event. This years 2023 addition on the 30th December sees the event celebrate its 10th Anniversary. We can’t wait to see everyone there to ring in the New Year on the hill once again 🎉

Very excited to announce the local acts that will be joining the amazing lineup for Reconnect All-Ages Concert in Leongatha this Saturday night...

MOOSE are a 3 piece band from Phillip Island. The trio consists of Keegan Edwards (Guitar & Vox), Tye Schmidt (Drums) and Brendan Becker (Bass). MOOSE incorporate a wide variety of styles from the late 80’s to early 2000’s into their sound fuelling a lethal and raw new-old school vibe.

AIMEE LE PAGE from Leongatha has been singing since she was young, and taught myself guitar during COVID.
She’s just finished high school and can't wait to start doing music outside of school.

Moose and Aimee will be joining THE DREGGS, MATILDA PEARL and NO LONGER KIDS in what promises to be an awesome night of live music!

The Hills Are Alive Tree Planting Project (& Party!) 2023! Registrations now open 🌿🌱😃🎉

The Hills Are Alive Tree Planting Project is an environmental sustainability initiative that has already contributed to tens of thousands of indigenous tress being planted within the local area that our festivals are held.

With your help (and the help of funds raised from carpark passes sold at NYE on the Hill and Ocean Sounds Festivals) we are very excited to be planting another 5,000 + indigenous trees in the local area on SATURDAY 26th AUGUST through our ongoing partnership with Bass Coast Landcare Network.

The tree planting will take place on a neighbouring farm a few kms from the Hills' site from 1:00pm - 4:30pm, and we will then head back to The Hill from 5:00pm - 9:00pm for sunset, drinks (on us!), food (on us!), music and DJ's (on us!). You're welcome to camp the night on The Hill too if you'd like, just BYO all camping gear if staying.

This year we have room for 60 volunteers and would love you to join us. It's first in best dressed and you can register to be part of the team by completing the below registration 👇🌱

When Alex Lloyd dropped his debut album Black The Sun in 1999 it was on an unsuspecting public that quickly fell for and embraced the quirky collection of electronica inspired pop gems he had crafted with producer and Psychedelic Furs member, Ed Buller. Under the producer’s guiding hand, Lloyd’s deft amalgam of exploratory electronics and heartfelt bedsit balladry – which included the singles “Black The Sun”, “Lucky Star”, “Something Special” and “My Way Home” – went on to win triple j’s album of the year and the ARIAs for Best New Artist and Best Male Artist, igniting a long-lasting affair with a nation of music lovers and critics alike.
On its release Black The Sun virtually came from nowhere bringing with it a new artist who seemed to be pulled from the ether with his craft already fully formed on arrival. Though Lloyd had been treading the boards since his teenage years (and later at local pubs with the likes of early bands, The Beefs and Mother Hubbard), this new Alex Lloyd chapter was something different entirely … assured, accomplished and with its electro textures, perfectly timed for the zeitgeist. From nowhere all of a sudden it was everywhere, dominating the nation’s airwaves it peaked in the top ten of the ARIA national album chart and stayed in the top 50 albums for 28 weeks achieving further accolades & international recognition via the inclusion of the single ‘Lucky Star’ on the hit Australian movie ‘Two Hands’ (starring a young Heath Ledger & Rose Byrne) and album track ‘Snow’ appearing on US horror flick ‘The Scream 2. Rose Byrne also made one of her earliest ‘starring’ roles appearing in the video for ‘Black The Sun’.
The incredible success of Black The Sun provided a lofty launching point for Lloyd’s career with the album’s follow up Watching Angels Mend ringing up triple platinum sales and featuring the now classic Australian songbook staple and advertising executive favourite “Amazing,” which took out triple j’s Hottest 100 and won Lloyd another Best Male Artist Aria in the year 2002. His next album Distant Light continued his impressive run of successful long-players achieving gold status off the back of the trio of singles including “Coming Home”, “1000 Miles” and “Beautiful.” An impending move to London came with his self-titled 2005 album which again sold in platinum numbers.

Steve Cousins is a multi-instrumentalist and singer-songwriter based in Phillip Island. Having seen Steve perform live multiple times at festivals such as NYE on the Hill, The Hills Are Alive, Ocean Sounds, Spilt Milk, we know that Steve puts on a incredibly entertaining and powerful live show. His latest EP release titled ‘Songs from Home’ is a fantastic stripped back display of songwriting and beautiful vocal tones. Drawing inspiration from the likes of Matt Corby, Ben Howard, Ocean Alley, and Tash Sultana, Steve’s love for music and life shine through in his unapologetically honest approach to song-writing and performing.

This show is co-presented by South Gippsland Shire Council and the Ruby Hall
