A follow on into the mesmerizing world of anemone flowers, where nature’s artistry shines through in the most vibrant colors! From soft pastels to bold, striking hues, anemones are a true testament to the beauty that surrounds us. These enchanting blooms are not just a feast for the eyes; they embody the delicate balance of nature’s palette. Did you know that different colors of flowers can symbolize various emotions? For example, the classic white represents purity and innocence, while the deep red variety signifies love and passion. REOW! 🔥😻💃

Anemones are often overlooked, yet they bring a unique charm to any bouquet or floral arrangement. One of the first flowers to bloom, prolific and surprisingly long stems!

A definite must grow for next season for cut flowers and in the garden!

The wind + rain doesn’t bother these babies - Iceland poppies - my favourite flower!

We’re hoping the weather doesn’t bother you all, either 🤪 the forecast is questionable for the weekend, yup, but our attendance isn’t (I can’t help but chuckle to myself as I watch the sideways rain through the window) we’ll be there. And so will the first of the poppies for the season! 🫶🏼

Be real with us - will you come evennnnn if it rains? lol

I know ya’ll are all probably rolling your eyes at me mentioning this ever elusive website I’ve been crapping on about…but this week, its book week, ya know? I’m still dividing dahlias, dried bunches, pressed cards, juggle, juggle people! The best thing about this flower community is that we’re generally pretty chill - except for the x drop last week, there was exactly no chill for that 😂
But it’ll happen when it happens…if you need me, I’ll be sowing seeds 🌱

Pressed wildflower cards + petites by me, bud vases by .in.form - coming soon!

With spring only a few weeks away, it won’t be long before my feed (and car/home/shed) is bursting at the seams with all of my favourite fresh blooms. Here I am intentionally showing up with some gorgeous bright and happy dried flowers from a few months back. I’m especially fond of that glorious pink dahlia in the centre… swipe to see her fresh. Pink Show, what a stunner! 💗

The ranunculus & nigella are putting on lots of beautiful, lush growth… it won’t be long before we’re dancing amongst the blooms like Stewie!

They’re currently tucked under two layers of frost cloth and we’re crossing our fingers and toes they’ll be blooming by the end of the month for the Horticultural Show. Even if they’re not, we’ll have plenty of pre sprouted and decent sized plants for you to take home and tuck into your own gardens.

Kay, was yesterday’s vase post with all of that gorgeous colour a tease, or what ☔️🤪

We have had soooo much rain where we are, even our usually lush cold hardy annuals are looking very yellow and depleted. They’ll need a well deserved feed on Sunday or Monday to replenish all the goodness that has been washed away by the rain. Poor babies.

So to totally do what I did yesterday, again, feast your eyes on these glorious spring blooms from two seasons ago. Ooooft they make me feel so hopeful!!!!

Hello glorious flower friends & happy Monday!

Felt a little under the weather last night for the 193848th time this year- so I’ve listened and I’ve decided to take a little down time before spring is here!

Website is underway, I’m committed to get the dahlias divided, have plenty to do for the early spring horticultural show and our two big girls are on holidays next week. Perfect timing if you ask me!

Please get in touch via email if you need me, I’ll still be engaging my with wedding clients, taking quotes etc

A big tick on my perennial growing list to KEEP (yes, always editing) is Achillea ‘The Pearl’ ☑️

In this picture here it’s definitely on the single bloom side but most of the plants in our patch give us gorgeous fluffy double blooms - similar to Feverfew/Matricaria ‘Tetra white’ - but for me The Pearl comes out on top out of the two thanks to how beautifully it dries; keeping a great vibrant white! Tetra which tends to dry more creamy/sepia, which is fine, but you must pick it at the right time or it goes super beige 😅

Have you grown either before?

Planning, planning, planning…hiding from the crisp winter breeze, writing my todo lists and putting off dividing dahlias for just one more day…going over bouquet recipes and reflecting on the season just past. Really not a bad Monday if you ask me!

I still get the warm and fuzzies when I look at these gorgeous photos of + 🏹

Achillea in the afternoon sun 🌅
We have now tended to almost all of the beds at the patch including weeding, thinning (literally ripping out chunks), replenishing and mulching all of the Achillea.

It’s a frost hardy and drought resistant perennial who gives oodles of long, strong stems, has great vase life, dries beautifully and the pollinators love it! Surely there isn’t anything else we could ask for?

As for invasiveness (is that a word? lol 🤫) the coloured cultivars have a lot more chill than the white. However, if you’re worried, grow it in a pot or raised bed!

A wild old day spent tucked up in the shed playing with drieds…it already feels like buckets like this were so long ago. What a season we had! And somehow they’ll be back before we know it. I’m starting to feel a bit ansty seeing all of you legends already finished lifting and diving your dahlia tubers! But in true me fashion, I’m also in no way ready to swap the drieds for the muddy tubers on my work bench. So here I will stay ☕️🌾

23/05/2024

It’s a funny old time of year, we’re tired, possibly even a tad burnt out, the kids are germy, the days are shorter, but the afternoons are particularly beautiful and easy to enjoy. When we dreamed of resting for what felt like *most* of the season, now we’re as “here” as were probably going to get…still millions of jobs to be done, especially before it gets too wet, but planning still needs to be done, oh the admin, ALL THE ADMIN. And the dreaming. But that never stops. And then all of a sudden you’re buzzing again and itching to be harvesting armloads of all of your favourite blooms…but also to be making wreaths ready for the silly season with the heater under the desk and a cuppa within reach, but did I mention kids? There still isn’t enough time, never enough hours in the day. But something there is no short of around here is passion, love, joy and wonderful people, flower friends to share it all with. So here we are! Hello 👋 and happy almost winter. I never plan to go dark over the “off season” but maybe the posts will slow, more soil, more growing tips and trips maybe, behind the scenes - hopefully… but we also have a rebrand on the horizon, shout out to .coco_ and I also have a course in my cart as a reward for booking another wedding for 2025. Exciting, beautiful things on the horizon! And I hope you’re laying out some good things for yourself too 😚 Did I mention I’m dreaming of breeding the most glorious zinnias this coming season…all the things 🌼

Now time to get ready and get out the door, it’s my kids free, two hands to myself day and it’s going to be a busy one! Happy Friday flower friends!

Jess 🌸
