About Us

This week, our annual arts festival, Dragonfly, is scheduled to take place on Thursday 7 November, starting from approximately 3.20pm. This event is an opportunity for our school and community to celebrate the success and hard work of our students across multiple creative disciplines. It is also a perfect example of our Montrose Mindset value: Growth.

Dragonfly will feature a range of displays showcasing our students’ work, encompassing both physical and digital presentations.

The afternoon and evening will feature:

- Art and photography exhibitions
- Writing displays
- Rock Studies performances and concert band
- Drama performances
- Kelp basket weaving
- Creative metal and wood designs

Please take the opportunity to come along and celebrate the achievements of our wonderful students and talk to their teachers about the creative and practical work being undertaken in our classrooms. We look forward to seeing you there!

Our school health nurse, Danielle, recently set out to find a group of students to create a piece of work to enter in the Share the Dignity: Creating Period Pride competition. This competition encourages Australian youth to submit creative, thought-provoking content that aims to remove the shame and stigma associated with having a period. We want to make it less shameful and embarrassing to have your period and encourage young people to reach out for support, education, advice, period products or anything to do with periods!

Danielle worked with a group of students to create this powerful artwork which represents the sense of freedom we can feel when we are period proud and not embarrassed or ashamed of experiencing a natural bodily process.

The most amazing news is that their creation won the artwork category prize which was $1000 cash for our school! Well done to all of these students and a huge thank you to Danielle!

In Year 8 Science, students are investigating the muscular and skeletal systems by dissecting a chicken wing. Students have enjoyed the opportunity to get under the skin of an animal and see what is happening although some may never look at a piece of cooked chicken the same way again!
