WHERE DO YOU STAND?

Is a question I get asked, a lot! And you know what? Fair enough too.

Answer is: You will only see me wedged in between you like this ⬆️ if we are doing the legal bits (that is; the legal vows you repeat after me, the celebrants Monitum (also a legal requirement) and the rings! (not legal, but you’re gonna wanna have me there for that bit, trust me!).

For the rest of the ceremony (venue/space dependant) I’ll be close enough that you are not craning your neck to try to see me and that your guests feel engaged, but will also HOUDINI off to the side at certain points, so there’s pics of you/your wedding party without me. (No offence taken 🥲).

Again, space plays a key factor in where your celebrant and your bridal/wedding party can stand comfortably, so that your photos look 👌🏼

FLYING C**K SUCCESS STORY 🐓 💃🏻 🍸

It was Easter long weekend 2019 and Ellen was out with the girls! After a few cheeky cocktails they’d found themselves at one of Brisbane’s iconic establishments- The Flying C**k (may it rest in peace). Ellen was tearing up the dance floor when Matty caught her eye. He and his mates were making their way over to the girls, dancing and flailing their arms in some weird mating ritual. Whatever it was, it was working! Ellen commenced bumping and grinding all up in Matty’s grill, and I think it’s fair to say that Matty had no issues with this. In fact, that was the only signal he needed…they leaned in for a drunken first kiss.

“WHY DON’T YOU COME BACK TO MY FRIEND’S PLACE?” yelled Matty, over the music.

Though the offer was tempting, Ellen had seen too many true crime doco’s recently, and politely declined. Instead, she agreed to walk with Matty to get a hot dog before hopping into her Uber. On their way, a homeless man asked Matty for money. He didn’t have any spare change, but handed over his uneaten hot dog as a gesture of goodwill. Ellen thought that was pretty sweet—sweet enough to cancel her Uber and go home with Matty instead.

YIN & YANG ☯️

Taylor first noticed Dan in the second half of grade 9 and described him as a “typical footy head with one of those ‘Fall out Boy’ haircuts and sleeves rolled up to showcase his muscles”. (This was considered hot at the time 🔥). She deliberately started putting her school bag in the spot dan had unofficially reserved, as a ploy to get his attention. It ultimately had the desired effect, and a friendship began to blossom.

When they weren’t hanging out, Taylor and Dan were chatting over MySpace or MSN, inseparable from the start. Their first date was a school excursion to Dreamworld - slightly unconventional but a date all the same! Dan bought them a yin and yang friendship bracelet that day, which Taylor thought was really romantic at the time, but now finds incredibly cringe.

Eventually, Dan decided being friends with Taylor wasn’t enough. So there, amidst the sweaty dance floor of a teenage disco, Dan asked Taylor to be his girlfriend. She said …no, but a week later,changed her mind, and so began the story of Taylor and Dan 🫶🏼

HELLO 👋🏼 There’s a few new faces around here. It’s time I re-introduced myself.

I’m Lara, a 28 yr old celebrant from the Northern Rivers (was also fortunate enough to grow up here) 🌱Yes, my mum still has an Astrological moon planting guide on the back of the bathroom door🌈 💫 No, I don’t believe turmeric fixes ALL your problems.

I was born into a family of professional muzo’s and went on to pursue music myself at where I completed my Bachelors degree in jazz voice 🎶 and now have an original music project-

I lived in Brisbane for a decade! 🌆

Lover of strong coffee, strong G&T’s, Sourdough Pizza and a good drop of Pinot 🍷

I’m very passionate about my Spotify playlists and WILL take over the music at parties/in cars, given the chance (or not). Will likely put on ‘Feel My Needs’ by Weiss or anything by Kali Uchis.

In my spare time I enjoy pilates, breath work, cooking (a new hobby), writing music, reading books by witty authors, spending time with friends, fam and my boyfriend Oliver ❤️

Love travel 🌍 am insanely stoked to be heading to Burning man in the US this August, and am unofficially obliged to tell this to everyone that I come into contact with for the foreseeable future🔥😂

REAL TALK 💐

Nancy and Aaron met at a bar in Nashville, Tennessee. Six hours into knowing each other, Aaron asked Nancy three questions. 1. Did she like to travel? 2. Did she want kids? And 3. Was she religious? Her answers, yes, maybe, and no must have passed his test because that night marked the start of a glorious month eating and drinking their way around Nashville together. That was 11 years ago and to this day, settling into a long meal, sharing wine and talking for hours is still their favourite pastime. Seemingly never running out of things to talk about…

I LOVE YOU, FOR REELS 📱 🎞️

I asked Ash what marriage means to her, and she said “it means you can send as many reels to that person as you like, and they are obligated to look through and watch all of them”.

But she also said: marriage is a commitment of friendship and love. It is to know each other’s best and worst moments and still show up, everyday.

Ians love for Ash goes beyond her talent for crafting the perfect sticky date pudding. To him, it’s about Ash’s unwavering support through every endeavor, be it encouraging his passions, advancing his career, agreeing to climb Mt. Tibrogargan 🥵or embracing a new video game, Ash stands by his side

Last Saturday at I had some of THEE most enthusiastic guests I think I’ve ever experienced. Ash and Ian’s family and friends are testament to the fun, warm and welcoming people they are. I mean it when I say It was TRULY a pleasure (not to mention the fact I got to work with these absolute wedding vendor icons)…

LOST A TOOTH, GAINED A WIFE 🤍

Kaitlin was 5 weeks away from leaving for the UK on a 2 year working holiday VISA. Safe to say, dating guys was not on the agenda (especially hot french ones that come into her work for dental surgery).

On the day these two met, Kaitlin’s colleagues had been swooning over one of the patients. They encouraged her to do a ‘walk by’ said patients treatment room, to see what all the fuss was about. So she did, and in that moment Kaitlin locked eyes with Remi for the first time…right before walking head first into the stock room cupboard 🫠

Mortified, Kaitlin went about her business, avoiding Remi’s room for a grand total of 3 minutes before walking past again. This time it was Remi who was embarrassed- having his mouth clamped open was not his usual go to move with the ladies.

Meanwhile, Kaitlin’s boss (who wasn’t thrilled about her planned move overseas) was watching this flirtatious behaviour unfold, and decided to use it to his advantage. Remi left that appointment with more than he’d bargained for. Not just a dental implant, but Kaitlin’s surname too, courtesy of her boss.

Remi immediately stalked Kaitlin down on instagram, flicked her a message and before Kaitlin knew it she was cancelling her visa, to have a shot at love with Remi.

SO MUCH FOR MY SINGLE GIRL ERA 💅🏽

It was 2021 and Georgia was finally returning home to Aussie soil after being trapped in the UK during covid. After getting through quarantine she couldn’t wait to enjoy some much needed downtime home in Rockhampton and sign back up to her family’s favourite gym. This was also meant to be her “single girl era”.

On her first gym session back Georgia spied a hot new PT with blue eyes and muscly arms. We’re talking ‘get up for the 5am class’ kinda hot 😏 (Single girl era was not off to a good start).

Jackson had noticed Georgia too, who immediately caught his attention with her equally beautiful blue eyes, big smile and, let’s just say, ‘curvaceous attributes’. He started to make any excuse to get close to Georgia, usually for some unsolicited tips on her technique, that secretly didn’t need correcting.

Jackson ALSO happened to be one of the trainers that Georgia’s Dad had become besties with. Thank god they were kind enough to invite Georgia to third wheel on one of their coffee dates, or who knows how long this love story would have taken!

Basically: Georgia married her Dad’s best friend and she is still the third wheel.

ICE COLD 🧊

It was 2017 and Ally was completing her final placement at St Laurence’s College where Nick was already teaching. He had definitely noticed the beautiful Ally around the school grounds, though I’m told that Ally had not noticed Nick... 🫠 (a little birdie revealed this upset Nick very much). But, eventually after Ally accepted a permanent position, they WOULD share an official introduction at the school assembly.

To this day Nick will claim that Ally’s response was as cold as ice...”Hi, you must be Alexandra”. “No it’s just Ally”...

…although, she insists it sounded very differently in her head.

Undeterred, Nick proceeded to win Ally’s heart.

When the strategic staff room ‘bump ins’ weren’t doing the trick, he upped his game and decided the best course of action would be to message Ally on Facebook, then pretend he was meant to send that message to someone else… 🤦🏻‍♀️

Jokes on us- it worked!

Last Saturday I had the pleasure of marrying them in what was a beautifully elegant yet equally fun ceremony. More guests like Nick and Ally’s please!!
