Taylor first noticed Dan in the second half of grade 9 and described him as a “typical footy head with one of those ‘Fall out Boy’ haircuts and sleeves rolled up to showcase his muscles”. (This was considered hot at the time 🔥). She deliberately started putting her school bag in the spot dan had unofficially reserved, as a ploy to get his attention. It ultimately had the desired effect, and a friendship began to blossom.

When they weren’t hanging out, Taylor and Dan were chatting over MySpace or MSN, inseparable from the start. Their first date was a school excursion to Dreamworld - slightly unconventional but a date all the same! Dan bought them a yin and yang friendship bracelet that day, which Taylor thought was really romantic at the time, but now finds incredibly cringe.

Eventually, Dan decided being friends with Taylor wasn’t enough. So there, amidst the sweaty dance floor of a teenage disco, Dan asked Taylor to be his girlfriend. She said …no, but a week later,changed her mind, and so began the story of Taylor and Dan 🫶🏼

HELLO 👋🏼 There’s a few new faces around here. It’s time I re-introduced myself.

I’m Lara, a 28 yr old celebrant from the Northern Rivers (was also fortunate enough to grow up here) 🌱Yes, my mum still has an Astrological moon planting guide on the back of the bathroom door🌈 💫 No, I don’t believe turmeric fixes ALL your problems.

I was born into a family of professional muzo’s and went on to pursue music myself at where I completed my Bachelors degree in jazz voice 🎶 and now have an original music project-

I lived in Brisbane for a decade! 🌆

REAL TALK 💐

Nancy and Aaron met at a bar in Nashville, Tennessee. Six hours into knowing each other, Aaron asked Nancy three questions. 1. Did she like to travel? 2. Did she want kids? And 3. Was she religious? Her answers, yes, maybe, and no must have passed his test because that night marked the start of a glorious month eating and drinking their way around Nashville together. That was 11 years ago and to this day, settling into a long meal, sharing wine and talking for hours is still their favourite pastime. Seemingly never running out of things to talk about…

I LOVE YOU, FOR REELS 📱 🎞️

I asked Ash what marriage means to her, and she said “it means you can send as many reels to that person as you like, and they are obligated to look through and watch all of them”.

But she also said: marriage is a commitment of friendship and love. It is to know each other’s best and worst moments and still show up, everyday.

Ians love for Ash goes beyond her talent for crafting the perfect sticky date pudding. To him, it’s about Ash’s unwavering support through every endeavor, be it encouraging his passions, advancing his career, agreeing to climb Mt. Tibrogargan 🥵or embracing a new video game, Ash stands by his side

Last Saturday at I had some of THEE most enthusiastic guests I think I’ve ever experienced. Ash and Ian’s family and friends are testament to the fun, warm and welcoming people they are. LOST A TOOTH, GAINED A WIFE 🤍

Kaitlin was 5 weeks away from leaving for the UK on a 2 year working holiday VISA. Safe to say, dating guys was not on the agenda (especially hot french ones that come into her work for dental surgery).

On the day these two met, Kaitlin’s colleagues had been swooning over one of the patients. They encouraged her to do a ‘walk by’ said patients treatment room, to see what all the fuss was about. So she did, and in that moment Kaitlin locked eyes with Remi for the first time…right before walking head first into the stock room cupboard 🫠

Mortified, Kaitlin went about her business, avoiding Remi’s room for a grand total of 3 minutes before walking past again. This time it was Remi who was embarrassed- having his mouth clamped open was not his usual go to move with the ladies.

Meanwhile, Kaitlin’s boss (who wasn’t thrilled about her planned move overseas) was watching this flirtatious behaviour unfold, and decided to use it to his advantage. Remi left that appointment with more than he’d bargained for. Not just a dental implant, but Kaitlin’s surname too, courtesy of her boss.

Remi immediately stalked Kaitlin down on instagram, flicked her a message and before Kaitlin knew it she was cancelling her visa, to have a shot at love with Remi.

SO MUCH FOR MY SINGLE GIRL ERA 💅🏽

It was 2021 and Georgia was finally returning home to Aussie soil after being trapped in the UK during covid. After getting through quarantine she couldn’t wait to enjoy some much needed downtime home in Rockhampton and sign back up to her family’s favourite gym. This was also meant to be her “single girl era”.

On her first gym session back Georgia spied a hot new PT with blue eyes and muscly arms. We’re talking ‘get up for the 5am class’ kinda hot 😏 (Single girl era was not off to a good start).

Jackson had noticed Georgia too, who immediately caught his attention with her equally beautiful blue eyes, big smile and, let’s just say, ‘curvaceous attributes’. He started to make any excuse to get close to Georgia, usually for some unsolicited tips on her technique, that secretly didn’t need correcting.

Jackson ALSO happened to be one of the trainers that Georgia’s Dad had become besties with. Thank god they were kind enough to invite Georgia to third wheel on one of their coffee dates, or who knows how long this love story would have taken!

Basically: Georgia married her Dad’s best friend and she is still the third wheel.

ICE COLD 🧊

It was 2017 and Ally was completing her final placement at St Laurence’s College where Nick was already teaching. He had definitely noticed the beautiful Ally around the school grounds, though I’m told that Ally had not noticed Nick... 🫠 (a little birdie revealed this upset Nick very much). But, eventually after Ally accepted a permanent position, they WOULD share an official introduction at the school assembly.

To this day Nick will claim that Ally’s response was as cold as ice...”Hi, you must be Alexandra”. “No it’s just Ally”...

…although, she insists it sounded very differently in her head.

Undeterred, Nick proceeded to win Ally’s heart.

When the strategic staff room ‘bump ins’ weren’t doing the trick, he upped his game and decided the best course of action would be to message Ally on Facebook, then pretend he was meant to send that message to someone else… 🤦🏻‍♀️

Jokes on us- it worked!

Last Saturday I had the pleasure of marrying them in what was a beautifully elegant yet equally fun ceremony. More guests like Nick and Ally’s please!!

DO YOU GET NERVOUS? 🤔 🎤

Growing up I watched my parents perform on stage for a living. I’d fall asleep in my dad’s guitar case to the sound of their voices and stage banter. Sometimes I’d jump up and sing on cruise ships with mum in front of 1000 + people (age 9). Between music theatre, school captain speeches (low-key flex), wedding singing, corporate events, ritzy bars and some deadset atrocious pubs, I guess you could say I got pretty comfy behind the mic, in front of an ARRAY of demographics.

If I wasn’t behind the mic I was behind the phones at places like Legal Aid, speaking to prisoners, victims of family and domestic violence and some really intense members of the general public to say the least 😅

When you hire a celebrant, they’re certainly not there to take the spotlight away from you, but they SHOULD radiate a calm confidence, be able to take control of a room, and be professional eliminators of awkwardness.

Sure, I still get a nervous from time to time. Weddings after all are high pressure environments! I’m sure other celebrants/vendors can relate to that depletion of energy you feel post wedding, when it suddenly occurs to you you’ve been running on adrenaline (and often champagne) making sure ‘sh*t doesn’t go wrong’.

Anyways, that was a long winded attempt to say thanks to for capturing me in one of the environments that I feel most at home 🎤

A DECADE OF LOVE 🤍

The first seeds were sown at the schools ‘Twilight Markets' Sam was in grade 10, Emma grade 9. After being introduced by a mutual friend they proceeded to share a sufficiently awkward hug, then quickly parted ways. In truth, Sam already knew who Emma was (Emma had no idea who Sam was🫠). Though their interaction was brief Sam does recall being drawn to Emma’s beautiful blue eyes and lightly freckled nose…in fact in his words “her freckles still get me to this day”.

The remainder of the night saw Sam sneaking glances in Emma's direction. He couldn’t take his eyes off her…

TWO YEARS later their paths crossed again, this time while cliff jumping at a local quarry, again with mutual friends.

Now it was EMMA who was noticing Sam. He just seemed so cool, calm and collected and wasn’t paying her much attention, so naturally, this intrigued her even more:

The real turning point however, was at an 18th birthday shortly after this, when Sam demonstrated his chivalrous side by pulling out a chair for Emma on arrival. This had her totally swooning (until she watched him do the same for every other person who arrived afterwards) 🤣. If anything though, this was a huge green flag. Sam wasn’t out to impress; he was just a genuinely nice guy. Later that night they shared their first kiss.

As these two approach nearly a decade together, it was my absolute pleasure to tell their love story on Saturday as they went from high school sweethearts to husband and wife 🤍

Karen knew it was love after spending her entire weekly student food budget on ingredients to cook Dave a three-course meal; and proceeded to live off Cornflakes and leftover cheesecake to financially recover.

Dave recalls them both attending a 21st, for which the goal was to ‘dress ugly’ and remembers looking at Karen, wondering how on earth she made a ‘$15 formal theme’ look so appealing 🤔

No matter where they are in the world she is immediately drawn to preserved goods. HUNGRY AND CONFUSED🤔

For their first date, Melvin had been forced to get creative (on account of a global pandemic), so he’d organised a day trip to Byron with Amy.

They spent that day learning all kinds of new and wonderful things about each other; Melvin's great taste in music, a mutual distaste for the beach. Amy ALSO discovered (after hours of starvation) Melvin's devotion to intermittent fasting!

She’d kept waiting for him to suggest lunch, but by the time she witnessed him order his 4th coffee, it became apparent that lunch was not on Melvin's radar.

OOH LA LA 💍

Last year Blake had asked Jenna if she would like to elope on their upcoming European family holiday, and while the notion was wildly romantic, neither of them could imagine not having their loved ones present to mark the occasion of their wedding. And so to save them all the airfares they ‘opted’ for a romantic proposal in front of the Eiffel Tower complete with a vintage French ring (tough compromise 😜) and still got to share in the celebrations with their nearest and dearest last week at . I even had the pleasure of meeting Kevin, the resident Kookaburra (who hadn’t RSVP’d) but decided to rock up to the ceremony anyways and perch on my speaker while we reminisced on all the reasons Jenna and Blake are together. Magic

A TRANSLINK LOVE STORY 🚎

When one considers the kinds of places where love may blossom, on very little occasions does a Brisbane bus ‘spring’ to mind. But it was in fact all thanks to Translink and their unpredictable crappy schedules that Jamie and Jack met, and fell in love.

In proper rom-com style it was Valentine's day 2015, as the 444 departed King George Square, bringing with it Jamie and her mates who had piled on in the nick of time and spotted a hottie sitting in THEIR seat. Poor Jack was just minding his business when this chaotic menagerie of young ladies climbed aboard. One friend in particular declared that “lucky he was cute”, or she would have made him move.

For the entire bus ride home to Indooroopilly, Jamie watched her friends flirtatious attempts to get this poor random's attention, whose cheeks were getting redder by the minute.

As long as they added him on facebook that's all that mattered - which is 2015 was the definition of success.

As the girls went to hop off the bus, still having no idea what the boy’s name was, something very out of character came over Jamie. With moments to spare she ran up the bus and didn’t get off until she’d confirmed his real name was in fact Jack Collins.

That night Jack scored about another 6 facebook friends, including his future wife.

GRATEFUL 🥹🙏🏼

It was the day before Georgie’s 30th birthday and she’d noticed the picnic set was mysteriously missing from the garage…👀 (not entirely sus, considering they had used it recently). Little did Georgie know that Blair had been stockpiling cushions, a picnic blanket and other various ‘al fresco’ items ready for the big moment 💍.

That night Blair lured Georgie out of the house under the guise of ‘Christmas light hunting’ (she is after all a hardcore Xmas enthusiast). As they strolled by a neighbourhood park they frequented often, Georgie stumbled upon a lavish picnic complete with fairy lights, champagne, cheese and candles…

“Gee” thought Georgie, “whoever this girl is must be pretty lucky!!”…😂
Blair said “Oh would you look at that! Let’s take a closer look shall we?! …”

Georgie couldn’t bring herself to interrupt ‘someone else’s’ surprise. But, with some gentle dragging they did get closer and it was about this time that Georgie noticed one of her favourite songs playing – Heartbeats by Jose Gonzalez, and she realised this grand gesture of love was for her 🥹

As Blair got down on one knee he opened his speech by saying really romantic things like- how challenging Georgie can be 😂thankfully ending it with some ACTUAL romantic things too.

Moments later Georgie was wearing a modified version of her great-great-great grandmother’s engagement ring 🤯, of course after saying a huge YES 💍

This ceremony left me feeling all kinds of wonderful feelings. Not sure if it was the energy of the guests or the incredible vendors I worked alongside but I felt so wholesome and content driving home.
I freakin love this job.

SPARKS ⚡️

It was 2008. Brad and Corinne were just a coupla 15 yr olds, filled with teenage angst and a mutual desire to blast their ears with as much punk/pop/emo music they could get their hands on (not much has changed in this department).

So when it became apparent that Panic at The Disco, Cobra Starship and The Academy Is were touring on the one lineup, you can bet your bottom dollar Brad and Corinne had tickets...and it was at this fateful concert that they met for the first time. Old school!

In a perfect world that night would have marked the beginning of Brad and Corinne as they know it, but to make for a much more dramatic and entertaining story it would be many years later at a mutual friends engagement party that a spark, finally began to form…

And by spark, I am referring to the cigarette Corinne had asked Brad for as an excuse to talk to him 🚬

Yes, neither Brad nor Corinne could deny the eye chemistry that was being exchanged throughout the night😏…at the bar, on the dancefloor. In Corinne’s words, whenever Brad’s eyes met hers it was instant attraction. Clearly the feeling was mutual 💍

ABORT MISSION 📱 👀 🏃🏼‍♀️

Zoe and James’ friends may have been fooled into thinking they met at , but no, they lied.

It was 2015, back in the good old days when Tinder was one of THE ONLY dating apps. Zoe’s bio said, rather frankly, “please don't find me on facebook”. So, naturally James found her on FB, stalked her down and sent her photos of his dog.

He must have redeemed himself somehow because it wasn’t long until a first date was hatched to meet for coffee at Vagelis Cafe on Racecourse Rd.

As Zoe arrived she spied a badly dressed man in board shorts she feared might be James. She did what any intelligent woman would do in this situation…the old emergency phone call. (Classic)

Much to Zoe’s relief, it was not him, (in fact James would like to make it quite clear- he wouldn’t be caught dead wearing board shorts on a first date).

No, Instead, what Zoe discovered was a funny, smart and genuine guy with a big beautiful smile, happy to sit and chat for hours. James recalls the natural flow of conversation between them coupled with Zoe's sophisticated elegance, cute nose and beautiful eyes.

Married at last Saturday, with some super enthusiastic guests (win) and a dreamy team of vendors.

“SHOULD I CALL THE POLICE?”

It was early in their dating phase and Aaron was days away from flying to Malaysia to watch the Formula 1. Bec panicked that he was going to (and I quote) “find another Malaysian girl, far superior to me”.

She needed to make a lasting impression, so she invited herself over to Aarons under the guise of Nintendo 64 and gelato. After hours of gaming, Aaron confessed that, while he was having HEAPS of fun, he’d actually just been wanting to kiss Bec all day, and kindly asked if this would be okay…🙃

UH, YAAAH!?? Music to Becs ears!!and moments later, they proceeded to share their first kiss, many kisses in fact!!

Meanwhile, Bec’s mum (who knew she was with a boy) had sent Bec a string of texts, which had all gone unread (on account of all the smoochin goin on 😜)

Mum jumped to the only possible conclusion. This guy had obviously kidnapped her daughter and was scheming the next true crime documentary.

Bec and Aaron have always found this memory hilarious, especially the last text from mum which literally read: “should I call the police” 🚨

“Ash can always rely on Chris for the important things, like filling up her water bottle before bed and holding her hand as they fall asleep. Chris also happens to be a top tier birthday and christmas card writer, and as a result, his cards bring Ash so much joy.

For Chris, happiness is sharing red wine, cheese and avo dip with Ash while deep in the throes of monopoly deal, or watching her shred up the dance floor after a few bevvy’s 💃🏻”.

These two were such easy vibes from the moment we met. Loved being a part of their epic celebration! 💍

FESTIVAL GIRLFRIEND POTENTIAL 💃🏻

The seeds were first sown in 2016 at Splendour in the Grass, when Kanishk and Monique matched on Tinder. Despite several attempts from Kanishk to connect at the festival, Monique (who seemed keen over text) had this complex around the actual ‘meeting up’ part of online dating (kinda important) and kept flaking.

To be fair, Kanishk thought Monique’s Tinder bio was a tad basic 💅🏽 and certainly didn’t do justice to the charms and complexities he would later come to know.
Regardless, Monique seemed cute and definitely had ‘festival girlfriend’ potential, so with high hopes, Kanishk continued to message throughout the duration of
Splendour.

When it came time to leave, aside from the fact they still hadn’t met, there was also the slight problem that Kanishk lived in Cairns, and Monique in Sydney. The future was not looking bright!

Undeterred, Kanishk wasted no time stalking Monique down on FB and making an appeal to her artsy side by dropping in some comment about ‘art’ and how ‘he too’ was interested (disclaimer, Kanishk was not interested). She left him on seen🫠

6 MONTHS LATER, Kanishk was road-tripping the east coast for a solo music tour (just caj), and despite Sydney not being on the itinerary he decided to head there anyway and reach out to Monique under the guise of “just passing through” 😏

Huge flex, and truth be told Monique WAS
Impressed, right up until he invited her to meet him at Sydney’s trashiest club to see some equally trashy dj…Monique politely declined.

I know what you’re thinking.. how the friggen heck did we get to the wedding part of this story? Call it fate, but right before Kanishk was due to head back north, Monique finally agreed to meet him for a late night drink overlooking Sydney harbour. It went inconveniently well.

MY SHOUT 🍔

It was 2014 – we’re talking Stereosonic with Skrillex, Calvin Harris, the good old, pre-covid festival days.

Todd and the fellas had booked a hotel in the city, and were kicking back with pre’s when they were gate crashed
by a few hotties from several floors up and, surprise surprise, Saskia was one of ‘them!

Now Saskia was feeling pretty fly on account of having had some pre-drinks BEFORE the ‘pres’ had started. As for Todd, he just recalls this random lass, rockin’ Stussy gear and a Nike bum bag who was bee lining it for the seat beside him. He honestly thought he was about to be jumped!

Saskia thought Todd seemed pretty down to earth for a muscly hot guy, which at the time, was a rare find.

Despite Saskia’s intimidating get up, Todd also got a window into her equally sweet and fun side and the two of them hit it off instantly.

The day after stereo, Todd received the friend request he’d been hoping and waiting for, but, not wanting to seem too keen, he decided to delay his acceptance by……a WHOPPING 15 minutes! WOW!

After playing it cool 🫠Todd wasted no time sliding into her DM’s, and after a couple months of banter, a first date was on the cards.

Now, for a uni student like Todd, Michelin star restaurants weren’t exactly on the agenda, so… Grill’d at Chermside it was!
A movie had been planned to follow but Todd hadn’t been paid 🥴and had to fess up to his financial limitations.

Saskia took the news like an absolute champ, and made it clear that she wanted to catch up with Todd, regardless of his bank account. 🥹

Early into their burger date, Saskia asked what Todd’s favourite burger was, before elusively disappearing… (Todd was new to Grill’d and didn’t know you pay upfront at the counter)… imagine how mortified he was to find out Saskia had paid for not only HER burger, but HIS burger too…

Things were not off to a good start for old Todd over here…Luckily, not bad enough to deter the lovely Saskia from a second date 🥰

MATT AND RENEE

When Matt saw Renee on that fateful day at work, sitting there drinking black coffee out of a keep cup, he pretty much thought he’d met the love of his life!

A conversation about coffee and plants ensued, (which kinda sums up their current life together☕️🌱)…little did Matt know Renee was actually drinking Moccona, which could have been a gigantic red flag.

Renee fondly remembers the way Matt’s eyes squinted when he laughed or smiled. Truth be told she also thought he was a little bit awks (but in a sweet way).

Neither of them knew in that moment that this would be the start of something life changing, but Matt was certain of one thing: from that day, he couldn't stop thinking about Renee..🥹

After a bunch of spur of the moment dinners with co-workers, more post-work drinks, and casual walks to grab coffee, These two finally took it to the next level… a vegan dinner date at Transformer in Fitzroy followed by a few rounds at Naked in the Sky.
