Some intense editing happening this week on an online course we have been creating, I have been delivering snacks to David to keep him going! 😂
I had a close friend come to me recently, asking how to get into filmmaking with no experience. So I sat down and thought about what advice I could give her and how I could help. She had never been on a set before, but she just knew: I want to be a filmmaker!
...and I couldn't talk her out of it! (lol!)
So I put my thoughts down on paper and decided to make this video for those wondering how to become a filmmaker.
This video covers the very first step, before you even consider going to film school, before interning, before any of it. This is designed to help you work out if you enjoy the craft and get you from 0 to 1. The rest will follow in due course.
So if you're one of those people who's brand new and been bitten by the bug, this video is for you.

What are Image Stabilization Stops?
I was always a little confused by image stabalization stops - what the hell are they?
I understand an exposure stop, but this is something different. Whether referring to digital, in-body or optical image stabilization, camera manufactures list image stabilization measurements in stop values, so I set out to understand what it means, why and how it is measured this way.
It turns out it has a lot to do with a rule of thumb from stills photography! So checkout the video on our Youtube Channel to learn more!

Today, not only will you learn the definition on a f stop, but we also cover all kinds of different stops! ISO stops, shutter speed stops, aperture f stops, as well as how stops work in relate to filtration (ND filters and ND gels). We even have an f stop chart for you to screenshot!
This is one has a lot of numbers, so grab a seat and a cup of cocoa, as we explore all things exposure!
We're also considering creating a pdf download that would include visual reference guide that would include a shutter speed, ISO and f stop scale, plus a filtration scale for you to use on set. So if you'd like something like that, please let us know down in the comments!

We absolutely love this little tripod, Lauren loves using it for behind the scenes and it's always with us anytime we travel! If you haven't already seen it, check out our review for the Switchpod on Youtube
https://youtu.be/IXswux-VI6Q
This beastly mini-tripod packs so many useful features into a really slimline, intelligent design.
There's a lot to love about the Switchpod and it's in my opinion the best travel video tripod for getting started on youtube.
What is your favourite tripod? We're keen to hear about what gear you guys use!

If you've never used a tungsten light before, this is the video for you!
Tungsten lights are an absolute staple in the film world and I still use tungsten lights for film and video shoots on a regular basis, despite being a little outdated.
Today, we'll explore how to setup, operate and maintain tungsten film lights, such as the Arrilite 800, Arrilite 750, Arri 650 and others.
