I love what I do, have conducted many weddings during my 12 year journey as a celebrant but this week I was asked by the grooms mother to announce a surprise garland exchange at the end of the ceremony. When I asked her to come forward she presented the most spectacular and delicious garlands, Freddo Frogs for the bride and Lindor chocolates for the groom. The grooms garland wished 5kgs, just amazing and so unique.

To say that I love what I do is an understatement. Amanda and Clint’s wedding was full of surprises; Clint is a singer and guitarist so I pretended that I had technical difficulties in playing the brides processional song, everyone fell silent, then I handed a microphone to the groom, I played an acoustic version of the brides song and Clint sang Amanda’s song as she walked down the aisle, Grandma stood tall and proud as she watched on. Then our gorgeous fur baby was the dog of honours she presented the rings. There were many laughs and with a few tears, such a beautiful and memorable wedding 💐👰🤵💍❤️

Gosh I am blessed to work in a profession that I absolutely love, it’s not for the thanks but for the pure joy and love I witness at each wedding. But the gift of thanks from brides parents from last weekends wedding absolutely caught me off guard and the accompanying card made me cry, they know my love of the sea and sea life.

But this gift has so much meaning, in Polynesian culture / mythology, sea turtles are a sign of good luck, protection, foundation of peace and rest, longevity of life, a guardian spirit, I will wear this with honour and pride

This is why I love what I do.

It’s not often that the celebrant is acknowledged or thanked for conducting a couples wedding, I don’t expect it but every now and then something wonderful and totally unexpected happens; your couple become so grateful for a wedding ceremony that has been performed with their love, uniqueness, personality, values and character in mind and presented in such a way that even the most nervous are completely at ease and thoroughly enjoy their ceremony that they present you with a small gift to show their appreciation.

I treasure these gifts and have many that are proudly displayed at home.

Love what you do and never work a day in your life 💍👰‍♀️🤵💐

The backdrop for todays funeral, majestic trees, children playing outside in the sunshine, framed perfectly by the modern architecture of the city skyline, the perfect venue with views from all aspects of the room. Farewell to this much loved man, such an honour and privilege to have conducted tour service today (the portrait was painted last night by his daughters future mother-in-law)

Two months ago a wonderful friend from Crimson Coconut days contacted me, his wish was to marry the love of his life and he wanted me to be their celebrant. So today they married on Good Friday, on the deck of a lovely local venue, the weather gods were kind as it only began to rain just as we were signing the marriage certificate. To say I love what I do is an understatement, I never expect anything but their thanks for a lovely ceremony so it came as a surprise when he gave me this gift of champagne before the wedding ❤️🥂🍾
Congratulations N & T, just married. And in the immortal words from “When Harry Meet Say”, When you realise you want to spend the rest of your life with someone, you want the rest of your life to start straight away……so let’s get started!!!

Have I told you how much I love my job? Not only am I blessed I marry Politicians in Byron Bay and possibly Australia’s most famous artist’s Great Grandson, but today I was in the presence of rock royalty when I married an Aria Award winning guitarist to the love of his life ❤️💍👰‍♀️🤵‍♀️💐

Congratulations Madison and Luke, married yesterday at Roombas at Mt Aitken, an amazing venue creating a rustic ambience. It was lovely to once again catch with my bride (sister of yesterdays groom) and her husband who I married five years ago and to meet their two gorgeous children. The reception was styled by our talented groom who made the table decorations and the welcome sign, I’m in awe of his creative skills and being involved in all aspects of the planning of his wedding day with his bride to be.

Roombas at Mt Aitken in Gisborne this afternoon. Beautiful venue, completely in my element with dusty wine bottles stored in racks, I have been promised a tour of the wine cellar with well aged wines on Friday when I’m back for the wedding ceremony.

From Mt Aitken you can see down the valley and all the way to the city (you can just make out the city skyline through the smoky haze from the fire at Flowerdale.

M&L are so creative, they have made lovely favours for their guests and made their own table decorations (more pics to follow) I even received my own personalised chocolate wedding favour, did I tell you how much I love what I do for a living ❤️💍👰‍♀️🤵💐

Perfect weather for todays wedding at Red Gum BBQ at picturesque Red Hill. Congratulations to an adventurous couple where the proposal took place on a narrow rock ledge on the side of a mountain, now the adventure truly begins for T&S, enjoy the ride. 🤗 I was inspired by my mountain climbing couple and couldn’t help but take in the stunning views of Arthurs Seat on the way back, but as I was in high heels and a dress, climbing a rock wall was definitely out of the question.

Wishing my family, friends and couples that I had the honour of marrying this year - and those who will marry in the new year - a wonderful Christmas Day. I hope this year ends on a joyful note and continues into a safe and prosperous New Year for you and your families.

This year has brought us all happiness but also sadness, it is our second Christmas with the virus I will not mention, it has touched us all with devastating results and has had the most profound, long term and frightening affects on many, so please be kind to those you meet as you may not know what they are going through.

Christmas is a time for cherishing those who bring love, joy and blessings into our lives every day. I hope you are surrounded by your loved ones, that they visit in person or in spirit. It is important to acknowledge those loved ones who ate no longer with us, so give presence and space to your feelings and know they are with us on this most special day.

Gorgeous wedding and perfect weather at Ripponlea for todays wedding #1.
Only yesterday I was asked to be the replacement celebrant due to illness, The couple were relieved and so happy that their ceremony went without any drama, the100+ guests all applauded me after I took a group photo and thanked me for a lovely ceremony and then as I was packing up, four groups of visitors to the grounds explained that they were hiding in the bushes to listen to the ceremony which they complimented me on how beautiful the wedding was, gosh I’ve never heard soooo many compliments in one day - I love my job

Conducted the most amazing and jovial wedding on Saturday, such an eclectic and bohemian group of guests. I was greeted by the groom at the front door, “well hello darling would you like a glass of whiskey or a champagne? Come on in and meet my long suffering and best friend, so far he’s the only one here“. Shortly after the house was full of excited family and friends and we waited 1/2 hour for the second witness to arrive. I was slightly star struck as the groom is the great grandson of a very famous Australian Artist, and I studied his works of art at school and even painted landscapes and portraits for a living in my twenties. The wedding ceremony was full of laughter as the groom was hilarious, it was infectious as the bride also contributed to the hilarity. The groom even bellowed a speech in my honour and to thank me for such a wonderful ceremony with great flourish and I’m now forever known as ‘Stella the Supernova’ a title I proudly own. A wedding I certainly will never forget ❤️💍👰‍♀️🤵💐

Today I was given the absolute honour to officiate my very good friend’s, sisters funeral. She was a somewhat quiet and shy woman who was a strong advocate for the environment and wildlife, she was a member of Greenpeace and there were so many photos of happy times at the beach, I recognised a photo of her aboard Polperro Dolphin Swims, a research and environmental conservation vessel operated and owned by a family for over 35 Years, this has been my favourite pastime for 34 years with this vessel, dolphin swimming is my happy place, I discovered I have so much in common with this remarkable woman who unfortunately lived her final 3.5 years in an aged care nursing home due to illness and age inevitably catching up with her. I hope you are now free of pain and swimming with your dolphins once more 💙🧜‍♀️🐬

The tranquil gardens of Fawkner Memorial Gardens Cemetery were the backdrop for yesterdays funeral for an incredibly strong woman, the beautiful sounds of a didgeridoo drifted through the air before, during and after her funeral, played by her son-in-law, it stirred emotions and I had goosebumps. This amazing woman along with her siblings was abandoned by her mother and were often charged with truancy and placed in foster care. This woman was working from the age of 9 there was the obligation to pay her own way in foster care, at age 12 she begged the judge not to put her in a home anymore which he agreed to if she could look after herself. She was working full time and paid for her own accommodation and a few years later looked after her 11yo sibling also, a remarkable woman indeed.

So on Saturday, this finally happened - Claire and Aaron waited 672 days for their wedding, after too many date changes to count and three years of uncertainty they finally had their dream wedding. It was hosted by Claire parents in their amazing and very large garden, it was like exploring along a winding, tree covered path to the ceremony space. Wishing you both every happiness in your future as husband and wife 💐🤵👰‍♀️💍
