Warning, long post of gratitude ahead.
Occasionally you meet exceptionally generous people in your life. Tonight I had a client meeting, a wonderful couple, and as she had suggested a 7 o’clock meeting which was their dinner time, she prepared an incredible Korean feast that she invited me to.
She explained her culture and the delicious foods that she had prepared, and that is an understatement, it was amazing.
We completed, signed and dated the Legal work, she then presented me with a gorgeous Christian Dior knock off handbag in thanks, that should have been displayed in her store, stating that we were destined to meet and she knew the moment she saw me walk towards her front door that I was the perfect Celebrant for her wedding Ceremony, and then she packed the reminder of dinner in takeaway containers for me to take home for dinner tomorrow night.
In the 13 years that I have been a Celebrant, only occasionally have I received a gift in thanks (and never expect to receive) but tonight tonight I felt incredibly humbled and also very grateful for the warmth and generosity prior to conducting a wedding, and the friendship that we now have going forward. I had not expected to be invited to their dinner table that I reluctantly but gratefully accepted, it became a wonderful night of learning a new culture and developing a wonderful friendship going forward.
Life is full of surprises, I always show kindness and empathy towards others, but to have it shown towards me is jays accept but pleasantly surprising as this is not a usual occurrence for me.
