This is one for the record book, this week I had one bride cancel her wedding, to be rescheduled, as she is in hospital and has just welcomed the arrival of her little baby. And today another of my brides is heavily pregnant at 37 weeks. While she was reading her vows she she began to whisper, she stalled, tried to speak and stopped once more, began breathing heavily, tried to speak, stopped, she had beads of sweat on her forehead, held her bulging belly, breathing heavily but she was determined to finish her vows. I assisted her to the nearest chair which she promptly and grateful sat upon. We were all convinced she was having her baby in the middle of the ceremony, but it turns out the baby wanted to be part of the days wedding celebrations and was kicking ferociously. Such a relief I didn’t have to perform midwife duties.

It’s such an incredible honour and privilege to be asked to conduct a funeral service for a much loved woman, to honour her memory not only with tears and sadness but to also have laughter fill the chapel at her cheeky antics and adventurous nature. I normally do not attend the wake that follows the services I conduct, but as this was a dear friends Aunt, I joined in the conversations of her extraordinary life with her family and long standing friends, such a humbling and rewarding experience. I am so grateful to have the opportunity to do this for many families, to provide a service of celebration that honours the memory of loved ones, and provide comforting closure to all who come to pat their respect . I am truly blessed to work in this industry 🕊️❤️ final goodbye

I love what I do, have conducted many weddings during my 12 year journey as a celebrant but this week I was asked by the grooms mother to announce a surprise garland exchange at the end of the ceremony. When I asked her to come forward she presented the most spectacular and delicious garlands, Freddo Frogs for the bride and Lindor chocolates for the groom. The grooms garland wished 5kgs, just amazing and so unique.

To say that I love what I do is an understatement. Amanda and Clint’s wedding was full of surprises; Clint is a singer and guitarist so I pretended that I had technical difficulties in playing the brides processional song, everyone fell silent, then I handed a microphone to the groom, I played an acoustic version of the brides song and Clint sang Amanda’s song as she walked down the aisle, Grandma stood tall and proud as she watched on. Then our gorgeous fur baby was the dog of honours she presented the rings. There were many laughs and with a few tears, such a beautiful and memorable wedding 💐👰🤵💍❤️
