In 2023 Gulgong MADS Inc. was successful in receiving a $246,286 grant from the NSW Government through the Creative Capital Funding Program. The works’ program submitted is now nearing completion and has successfully addressed some important, and much needed, storage, access and compliance issues....

Broken Creek Concert and Pop-Up Choir Workshop at the Prince of Wales Opera House - 12 November, 2022.

Description of concert: In the beautiful space of The Prince of Wales Opera House, chamber folk duo BROKEN CREEK will take you on a journey through Ireland, Scotland, the Appalachian mountains of America through intricate arrangements of banjo, mandolin, guitar, violin and voice. This performance will include special guest singers from the Pop-up Choir workshop which will be held earlier in the day and is open to anyone who is keen to sing.

Description of workshop: Broken Creek will host a POP UP CHOIR WORKSHOP in the afternoon from 2 - 4pm. This will be a fun two hour workshop where we will learn the parts to a Broken Creek song, an evocative folk song and a rip roaring sea shanty. No singing experience necessary (if anyone has told you that you "can't sing" they are wrong). In the safety of a group we will learn some vocal techniques that will help you feel in touch with your voice and build your confidence singing in parts. Coffee and tea will be provided.

Immersive stage lighting, classic Cuban rhythms paired with impressive choreography by Adrian Medina plus compositions by a bright light in Australian women’s jazz, saxophonist, G*i Bryant, all together combine to present a show of spectacular artistry in this 11-piece ensemble in a tour supported by Create NSW.

The dancers exude unmatched elegance, exoticism and Cubanissimo, the audio is crisp, and all is set against a backdrop of footage taking you straight to the heart of Cuba. The band share recollections and anecdotes of their cultural stories. The tour leads up to national harmony week, what better way to celebrate our nation's diversity.

With NSW covid restrictions eased, we still recommend to socially distance outside your group and it’s up to you if you choose to sit with a mask OR STEP UP TO THE NOW LEGAL DANCE FLOOR. If you love to rumba or for that matter any other creative interpretive dance, you're in luck as the band will invite the audience to the designated dance floor for specific sets of songs.
