A huge thank you to everyone who joined us at The Memo Healesville for a magical evening of classical music last weekend! ✨

Pianist Kristian Chong - Pianist and violinist Sulki Yu delivered a breathtaking performance of Beethoven and Strauss, leaving us in awe. It was especially heartwarming to see young music lovers, some learning piano themselves, enjoying the concert for free thanks to our A Minor Tix program!

We're so grateful for your support and for making this event a resounding success. Until next time!

NOW ON DISPLAY//
Stories of Giants by Emma Jennings

Olinda-based artist Emma Jennings’ Stories of Giants honours the humble yet extraordinary people who supported the Dandenong Ranges community in the wake of an unprecedented storm event on 9 June 2021. Three years after the disaster, Jennings’ portraits and ongoing creative recovery work embrace art and creativity to process the experience and support her community to move from survival to meaning-making, healing and recovery.

Jennings’ detailed portraits of residents and volunteers, created on salvaged lengths of timber from trees that fell in the storm, are layered with botanical studies and patterns found across the forest floor. Evocative of the once tall forest giants, these paintings embody both the landscape that was and the regenerative growth slowly healing the land and people, by honouring those who worked tirelessly to support their community and loved ones in the wake of disaster.

♥ This Mother's Day, we're celebrating all the Mums in the Yarra Ranges who go above and beyond, just like Dame Nellie Melba!

🟣 Did you know our local legend once transformed herself into the Old Woman Who Lived in the Shoe, all to bring a smile to her granddaughter Lady Pamela Vestey's face on her 10th birthday? Borrowing costumes and props from J.C. Williamson’s property department she transformed her home at Coombe Cottage in Coldstream into a nursey rhyme dreamland. Dame Melba showed the lengths a Mum (or Grandma!) will go to for their family.

🌹 This Mother's Day, we thank all the Mums in our community for their endless love, creativity, and unwavering support.

📸 Thank you to & District Historical Society Inc. for providing this special image of Dame Nellie Melba
