What a wonderful way to spend Valentines Day ... officiating a marriage ceremony for a couple who have been planning now for 3 years (interrupted by covid) and finally tonight they shared their vows and start their married life together. A perfect love story, including perseverance, adventure, friendship and ultimately, love ❤️ Congratulations lovelies, and thank you for inviting me to share in your celebration 🍾 it was super special! The decorations were designed by the bride and so detailed, it was a gorgeous environment to share such a special event ... and the cake was heavenly...(cele bake - cake lab)

A woman asked a celebrant how much a 20 minute wedding ceremony would cost for her daughter’s wedding.

The celebrant gave her a quote: $795

The customer responded: That’s seems really high.

Celebrant asked: What do you think is a reasonable price for this job?

The customer answered: $250 maximum

The celebrant responded: Ok, then I invite you to do it yourself.

The customer answered: I don't know how to, but how hard could it be?

Celebrant: Alright, then how about for $250 I'll teach you how to. So besides saving you money, you'll learn valuable skills that will benefit you in the future.

The customer answered: Sounds good! Let’s do it! Can we start next weekend?

Celebrant; No, I work all weekend. It will have to be Monday to Thursday during the day, as I do rehearsals most Fridays, and have meetings after work.

But anyway, to get started, you are going to do some study and get registered by the Attorney General.

The customer answered: How long does that take and how much will it cost?

Celebrant: You can study online or do a face- to - face course. It takes about 12 months and the cost will be a couple of thousand. When you apply to the Attorney General for registration it’s $600. And then it costs another few hundred each year to stay registered. Oh, and you have to do ongoing professional development study each year too, which usually costs another couple of hundred.

The customer answered: Okay. That’s a bit more than I expected, but at the end $795 for 20 minutes work! I’ll think about it.

Celebrant: There’s a lot more than 20 minutes work per ceremony. You’ll be doing all the legal paperwork too, and you’re legally responsible for this too, so make sure you take out insurance. (Another few hundred dollars each year). Then, you’ll spend time on meetings, emails, travel, downloading music and writing the ceremony.

And you’ll need to arrive at the ceremony well before it starts to set up your equipment.

Customer: (not feeling quite so enthusiastic any more). Equipment?

Celebrant: Your portable PA system, and signing table. When you arrive at the venue you get the groom set up with his lapel mic, and then make sure that both his mic and your mic are working.

Customer: But aren’t PA’s expensive?

Celebrant: Yes, A good one will cost at least a couple of thousand dollars.

Customer (starting to feel a bit silly): So, is that it? Any other costs?

Celebrant: Just the stationery, you know all the legal documents and certificates, vow cards, But they’re usually not too expensive, maybe a couple of hundred dollars annually.

And one last thing.

You don’t have a fear of public speaking, do you?

WhooHoo!!! Today is National Celebrants Day!! I love any excuse to celebrate, but it's great to acknowledge and celebrate what I love doing so much!! Since I became a celebrant almost 4 years ago, I have married more than 30 couples and been involved in some amazing memories and incredibly special moments with a bunch of awesome people, honouring and celebrating their LOVE!! Thank you to all those who have been on that journey with me, your support, love and advice has been very much appreciated. I am honoured and humbled to be part of such wonderful occasions and I am so grateful for the lessons that each of my couples have taught me along the way. Most of all though, I am honoured to be able to celebrate LOVE everyday and I still subscribe to the hope that Love will make everything beautiful

Love was most definitely in the air when this lovely couple tied the knot on Saturday! In a stunning location right by the water with a million dollar view, Michelle and John were married in a perfect ceremony that had everyone smiling! It's easy to see when two people are in love and it was just oozing from these two beautiful people, and the feeling was contagious! As they were announced as husband and wife, their song of choice was an oldy, but a goody, Love Is In The Air by John Paul Young, and it set the tone for an amazing celebration. Thank you for the honour of being involved in your special day! A big huge Congratulations to a lovely couple and a wonderful family! As promised a couple of weeks ago, I now have permission to post a pic ... New Year's Day was spent celebrating this lovely couple - a fun ceremony indeed, and in keeping with the 'bogan theme' everyone wore flanny shirts, which was fabulously fun and relaxed. The love shone thorugh and it was a pleasure and a privilege to be a part of. Thank you Denise and Brian for including me in your special day! It was a wonderful start to 2020! Happy days ahead for both of you

Wow! My facebook memories reminded me that 3 years ago today I was registered as a marriage celebrant! What a fun and fabulous journey it has been and I have met some beautiful people along the way and had the privilege of marrying a few of them! This beautiful couple are super special and it was such an honour to be able to officiate because I have known the bride for a very long time
