Not quite FIVE GOLD RINGS šŸ˜‰ but I am having fun making something festive after getting on top of all orders for collection tomorrow (Thanks for being super organised) OPEN 8.30 - 12 noon with some gorgeous bouquets and arrangements plus enough wholesale for DIY decorating including pink oriental Lillieā€™s, lime green kangaroo paw, marshmallow arums, birds of paradise, gypsophlia, andromeda, snapdragons, statice, gum, pine and even a few sunflowers. LAST FULL DAY OF TRADE - this is not a rehearsal peoples, we still have plenty of local flowers available instore - wholesale for your decorating pleasure, already arranged for gifting to self or others plus lots of lovely gift options. We are really excited to be able to offer gift vouchers for some of my favourite local women run shops and I am looking forward to expanding on this collaboration in 2025 * think big bunch of flowers for a brand new mum with a voucher, or a potted plant paired with a voucher for your favourite vintage fan OR maybe a with a voucher for a delicious brunch OR a pretty posy with a voucher for your crafty bestie. Supporting small business makes you feel good so itā€™s a win/win all round. I am really lucky to know some inspiring business owners who are generous with their time, knowledge and recommendations and I am looking forward to a prosperous 2025.

Yesterday was my birthday and because a dear friend accidentally thought it was last week she gave me a gift early which kicked started celebrations because WHY NOT? And so I bought myself some lovely things including a pair of sweet frog earrings by plus a silver jangly bracelet I had my eye on at and in anticipation of lunch I cooked a lamb roast on Tuesday evening JUST to have leftovers so I could do a roast lamb w tomato sauce toastie for lunch on my actual birthday because I never got over how good they were when the sweet young Christian couple on King Island made them for us after taking us to Sunday School. 49 years old is looking really great so far, thanks for everyone who made it special ā¤ļøā™„ļø

Sometimes an idea percolates for years until someone can help you execute so it can heal a part of your heart and inner Christmas child šŸŽ„Velvet lined vintage and new fabircs stockings are $49.50 and wonā€™t be repeated in the same colours as full rolls of vintage velvet like the burnt orange one from are few and far between, the electric blue velvet came from Lucie at and the yummy camel roll came from the enormous stash of the grand daughter of the owner of Soundyā€™s pre-covid. When I first took over the florist I made the time to check in with a few key people, close family, smart friends, a mentor couple I respect and a fellow Tasmanian business owner who chooses to do things that reflect her choices on earth. was transparent about the struggles to be a sustainable eco conscious small business owner/operator in a world where the majority donā€™t seem to care about how their choices affect the planet we live on, I still hold onto hope that most people do care and once they understand the reasoning behind things they will think about what that really means. When I am making money from Mother Nature I believe I should do it gently and respectfully, which means only using locally grown product - I heard once that ā€œIf you wonā€™t stand for something, you will fall for anythingā€ and that really stuck with me. I am making choices that my 10yo & 80yo self would be proud of, and even if itā€™s not perfect, success is an inside job and the validation I get from choosing myself even if no-one else does is enough. lovenotes remind me to get on with the important things everyday!

And the story behind them is even more fabulous than they look, dear Doris who brings them is 84 years old and her late husband grew them for her, a physical representation of love in action, I just adore hearing the REAL LIFE LOVE STORIES and I am here for all of them. The new love, long time love, long distance love, mama love, sister love, auntie love, daughter love, neighbour love, anniversary love, bursting with pride love and graveside love. Hi my name is Rebecca and I am a florist - I donā€™t know much but I am certain that someone needs to hear this today - a long time ago a new mentor told me the only thing we really have any control over is our attitude and I nearly choked on my coffee laughing so hard and long until I realised that she was dead serious. I never had any say in my reactions and it showed in my results in life. So itā€™s been long time coming BUT now when someone attempts to upset my applecart (if you know what I mean) I do something nice for someone else; sometimes a stranger in public, sometimes a friend who might need a boost up their ladder or I make some kind of donation of time or flowers etc. Itā€™s my version of turning lemons into lemonade; shifting the energy from feeling cranky to noticing others and itā€™s been a jewel in the crown of the last few challenging years.

I used to refuse to do any Christmas shopping or decorating until after I celebrated my late November birthday which was disastrous for a small business owner, I have since learned that I need to have all gifts purchased (ideally wrapped) by the end of October āœ”ļøAND after a weekend of Christmas prep I feel like I am ahead of the game for once, itā€™s this owner/operators fifth Christmas and I am determined to get it mostly right. Sustainableāœ”ļø Gorgeousāœ”ļøNever to early to support small business and letā€™s face it, if you have friends or family who make/sell/service things it would be the best gift of all to spend your money with them, they will appreciate it more than you know!

Last week a gentlemen came in for carnations to take to his motherā€™s grave. He spoke of their relationship with so much love that he made himself cry, which is one of the perks of owning a flower shop, almost every purchase is in the name of love.

And for whoever needs to hear this today, your children will remember whether you actually really listened to them or whether your face lit up when they walked in the room or if you knew their favourite snacks or if you made it a priority to put them first. They will remember the important things & if you are really lucky they will remember your favourite things too!

Our Story

After working for Brenda and John for almost 9 years, at Northgate, Farm Gate Flowers and Salamanca my husband Adam and I were offered the lease on the retail space at 205 New Town Road opposite Ogilvie High School in the old Trophy Traders building. What an incredible opportunity and dream come true!

Brenda and John have been in the flower growing and selling industry in Hobart for over 23 years and will continue to supply the shop with their farm fresh flowers and foliage through the week, and will be at Salamanca markets on Saturdays for visits and great market prices.

I am excited to be able to welcome other Tasmanian flower farmers into the shop and we are proud to offer Tasmanian gift lines. We sell direct to the public at wholesale prices and also produce posies, bouquets and arrangements for sale and delivery around the greater Hobart region. We welcome single stem purchases, right through to events and weddings, and will be offering hire items and bespoke handmade things to mark your celebrations. We look forward to hearing about how we can help using our unique style and skills while being mindful how our choices affect the environment.
