Anyone who has visited our little flowershop might have met my only daughter Mae and this year she has really been a big support by taking on phone orders and serving customers which really stretched her capacity and she nailed it. I adore these captures of her by and it’s been really hard to pick which one will make it to the pool room! 😉 which one should we frame?

As a gift to myself for Mother’s Day I organised w for a photo shoot and it turned out to be girls only dress up session of silliness - which was fortuitous as LOOK AT US 😍 I wish I had done one every year of her sweet life ♥️

We are now closed on Saturdays, I am working on a long held in my heart sewing project and a couple of new gift offerings over Winter, always happy to take any suggestions or recommendations via DM, thank you to people who respect boundaries and value my time! I am pumped to stretch my own creative muscles so we can enjoy some big and little glimmers in our days like these vases ♥️ (ornamental kale in recycled wooden vase by and spray rose in ceramic especially for us by )

A little bit of native-ish love for a much loved hospital patient on the last day of a 12 day straight working stint for me, and I am reflecting on the phone call I got this time last year which was to tell me my iron levels were dangerously low (15) and I needed to present at emergency immediately… so after I explained that I had a few things to get sorted for customers before I could leave work (typical small business owner/operator) but because most people are half dead but I don’t really have choice but to get on with it. Anyways, safe to say that health things have been seen to, my boundaries have tightened around my energy/time/space and I look forward to having our weekends back for family fun, shivering shenanigans and seeing some more of this island home this winter.

CLOSED SATURDAYS, I can recommend Salamanca Market for fresh local flowers & we will be open Mondays - Fridays 8.30 - 3.30

Last week was a flurry of early mornings, late nights (with tunes) a building packed to the brim of lovely local flowers plus me and two children, which means calling in catering by effervesant as I just can’t do everything myself (YUM) we also had the delightful come through and sort us out so we can feel human again AND in among the chaos the gorgeous Lily of came by to say hello! If you missed it (like we did) there is a link in our bio & I will put one in the comments. Last and certainly not least, MVP goes to my darling daughter Mae who at 15yo was an absolute dead set legend with prep, customer service and clean up, I could not have survived without her!

This week was wild — as a single mum and small biz owner who lives at work, I felt like an octopus on roller skates some days! Thank you to everyone who bought flowers intentionally with heart and let me be part of your Mother’s Day. Gloria’s in the window with a fresh skirt and rose petal lei, my kid threw a knife (yep), and I was interviewed for Seven Tasmania news. Swings and roundabouts.

Love fiercely, keep it real.

Happy Mother’s Day to all — but especially to the single mums doing double duty and showing up even when it’s really bloody hard.

I adore all the reasons people buy flowers; new love, old time love, long distance lovers, secret admirers, friends turned situationships, and there is something really special about wedding day flowers, for some crazy reason this week there were 3 casual couples happy to celebrate the start of their married lives together with a super simple posy with no fuss or drama. FUN STORY, I made my own wedding bouquet using red roses and I sat it on the roof of the car while I buckled my then 21mo daughter/flower girl into the car seat and it rolled off onto the ground damaging a few flowers and upsetting my sweet baby girl, in hindsight, maybe not the best omen for a florist on her wedding day. Anyways, walk-in wedding day posies are $125 and welcome anytime, allow about an hour, you have to be able to trust me and let me do my job 💍👰🤵

A short, busy week of wreath making to pay respects to the soldiers, I am fairly certain they didn’t fight for our country so we could fill up landfill with plastic junk - just another way we honour our values by using practices and we appreciate the customers who choose us each year. We are open 12.30 - 3.30 today and 8.30 - 11.30 Saturday so we can start getting organised for Mother’s Day.

Our Story

After working for Brenda and John for almost 9 years, at Northgate, Farm Gate Flowers and Salamanca my husband Adam and I were offered the lease on the retail space at 205 New Town Road opposite Ogilvie High School in the old Trophy Traders building. What an incredible opportunity and dream come true!

Brenda and John have been in the flower growing and selling industry in Hobart for over 23 years and will continue to supply the shop with their farm fresh flowers and foliage through the week, and will be at Salamanca markets on Saturdays for visits and great market prices.

I am excited to be able to welcome other Tasmanian flower farmers into the shop and we are proud to offer Tasmanian gift lines. We sell direct to the public at wholesale prices and also produce posies, bouquets and arrangements for sale and delivery around the greater Hobart region. We welcome single stem purchases, right through to events and weddings, and will be offering hire items and bespoke handmade things to mark your celebrations. We look forward to hearing about how we can help using our unique style and skills while being mindful how our choices affect the environment.
