in the late 1980s I stumbled across this little music festival. What struck me was the feeling of freedom, acceptance, love and peace. It wasn’t large, but it filled my heart with such joy that has made an indelible mark in my memory that I have forever wanted to recreate. There were people enjoying bottles of wine, there were other groups passing around other stuff.. there were kids running and p
laying and being kids, It was utopian to me. There was the CWA stall selling cakes and a myriad of handmade products made by locals. The music was folky, it was acoustic, it was grass roots. I even graced the stage myself during the open mic! When I looked out into the faces of the people, I noticed they were all smiling, groups were mingling. There was a true feeling of community, a Tribe if you like. There were no big corporate brands anywhere, no police telling people what they could or couldn’t do. People picked up their own rubbish and there was not a di****ad in sight! People were self managing, self monitoring. It went on into the night and the kids were still playing and the families were enjoying picnics and the weather was hot and it was one of the most enjoyable afternoons/evenings of my life. We felt so held, so included, people were sharing their rugs and picnics with us, and we shared right back. So I got to thinking.. how cool would it be to recreate this vibe! What would it look like and how would it work? And that’s how Dragonfly Dreaming - Music & Harmony Festival came to be ����

We absolutely can’t thank our magnificent volunteers enough for their mammoth efforts! There were plenty of times that we all had to dig deep, but seeing your faces smiling through your exhaustion was tear evoking.
We have had the most life changing experience! We’ve learnt lots, made so many new amazing friends and loved working alongside of the absolute best team of volunteers and crew that a music festival could ever ever ask for!!
We would also like to acknowledge the super savior support from the team at Alma’s Hem Amptheatre. Thank you for calming us, helping us and holding our hands throughout, such gratitude. 🙏🏽
