Floral By Nature

Floral By Nature Farmer Florist growing seasonal, organic, cut flowers for special events, markets, local businesses Welcome,

My name is Celine. I couldn’t do it alone.
(18)

I am a born and bred Blue Mountains girl, florist and horticulturalist. Inspired by the farm-to-table movement and driven by my passion for growing and all things floral. I want to provide the local community with a healthier, eco-conscious alternative to the mass Australian grown and Imported chemical laden flowers. Flowers grown with love using organic methods, the way nature intended, without t

he use of any toxic chemicals or pesticides. Flowers that haven’t been shipped from the other side of the world, clocking up thousands of “flower miles” then fumigated before they end up on your table. Flowers that are a little bit different from your everyday florist shop varieties. Gorgeous heirloom and un-usual flowers grown from seed, outside where the bees can appreciate them too. All carefully selected specifically for Cut Flowers to ensure good “vase life”, beautiful fragrance and strong healthy stems. We are still in the setting up phase out on our farm in the Kanimbla Valley but in the meantime I have been madly digging up our backyard in Medlow Bath, mostly because I couldn’t wait a second longer but also to start my seed bank, test out some new flower varieties and trial some different growing methods. The seeds are in, growing well and we will have armfuls of flowers to arrange and share with everyone from Spring through to Autumn. I have my little helpers (Indi 3.5, Koen 2) that spend hours in the garden with me and my beautiful supportive husband that provides the back up muscle power, support and encouragement when needed. We are very excited and looking forward to sharing our journey as Flower Farmers with you!

It’s well and truly Chrysanthemum season over here!

Absolutely loving this variety, Crazy Ladies. Shaggy blooms starting off a buttery cream and turning pure white as they mature.

If you bought one of our lucky dip chrysanthemum packs last Spring you might recognize it, as it was one of the four varieties in the mix.

Do you have Chrysanthemums flowering now too?

The weather has been on our side this week (no frost, yay!) which means we will be back at the Gang Gang Farmers Markets again this Thursday.

It’s looking very autumnal this week. We’ll be bringing a selection of our beautiful heirloom chrysanthemums to share with you all. They are one of the longest lasting flowers around and with a little care, will easily last up to three weeks in a vase.

Hope to see you there! 🍂

This is not just a bucket of the most beautiful combination of flowers you’ve ever seen!

Behind the bucket of flowers, (the camera shy) woman holding them, has literally saved my sanity this season.

Jenna has worked for us one day a week over the past few years but had last season off and my goodness I felt her absence! I had many moments when I was close to quitting and felt a strong sense of overwhelm.

But this season Jenna is back! And I can’t believe the difference her help makes. I am so grateful.

Jenna is starting to help with the floristry side of the farm too. We had a couple of fun days last week making up these bouquets together. She’s a natural!

Don’t miss us today at Gang Gang Farmers Markets. We will have lots of beautiful cheery flowers to brighten your day!

Flower of the week! 🤩🤩🤩

So in love this new fluffy girl on the block. When she first opens she’s a little more mauve but as she ages she turns these beautiful soft shades of pinky mauve. So pretty!

I love discovering new dahlia varieties. It keeps it exciting! Have you fallen in love with a new variety this season?

The Echinacea have been exceptional this season!
Super long stems and perfect petals. Normally a target for caterpillars, they’ve left them alone this season (winning!!) These ones have been flowering since the beginning of December and still going!

I think everyone should grow echinacea. They put on a long flower display in the garden and are a gorgeous cut flower too.

I’m thinking about writing a blog post on growing Echinacea. Is this something you would be interested in reading?

…If yes, is there any questions you have or topics you would like me to include?

What a warm start to Spring we are having! Not so good for our cold hardy spring flowers that are yet to bloom. The Ranunculus are not happy and I have serious concerns for our snappies this year. Thankfully it’s going to cool down a bit by the end of the week, which will hopefully give them some respite.

Pictured are our poly tunnel poppies which are finally getting some longer stems.

Who loves poppies? 🙋🏻‍♀️

Our second dahlia tuber sale is now live!

Not all varieties have been restocked but there’s some beautiful dahlias to choose from as well as our popular lucky dip packs. Pictured here is Breannon, which is back in stock.

We are getting ready to plant some of our tubers earlier than usual due to the warmth of the past weeks. They are busting to get into the ground so I will let them do their thing and protect from any possible frosts.

Who else is planting earlier than usual?
