A 20 year old beautiful classical musician who runs marathons (Teash) meets a 21 year old handsome AFL player and surfer (Dan) at a dinner one night. She can’t quite believe what a gentleman he is.

They fall in love and grow and change together through the next decade of life.

The classical musician is now a highly respected and adored primary school teacher and Pilates instructor and the footy player is now a Firey and great cook.

On paper, this is a romance novel I couldn’t have even begun to dream up. But it’s so much more than this.

They’ve changed along the way, but at their core, their values, morals, goals and outlooks on life have remained 100% aligned. They’ve supported and championed each new version of the other as they’ve grown and forged a joint path forward.

This is the stuff I live for and a love story I won’t forget in a hurry. I especially won’t forget the big burly Firey choking up and unable to speak in response to my question in our pre-ceremony meeting: ‘how do you reckon you’ll be feeling on the day?’ 😭💔

MEET KATE & MARK ✨

K&M first met 10 years ago via the internet before internet dating was cool (TY plenty of fish 🐟).

Kate thought Mark looked was a lil bit of a Beckham lookalike at the time which pleased her greatly because of course, and Mark was besotted by Kate’s dimples and adorable Welsh accent 🥰

These days, Kate reckons Mark is less Becks and more Peaky Blinders and she’s more than ok with that. Mark still thinks Kate’s dimples and accent are the best 🤩

Their shared sense of fun and adventure is at the heart of their relationship, along with a deep love, trust, respect and understanding of one another. You can honestly feel it.

On a perfect Thursday in December, they made I’d offish at my darling in the electric presence of loving friends and fam who’d come from allll over to celebrate two of the best.

They didn’t stop crying or laughing during this ceremony which is exactly how I like it.

Kate entered to an acoustic version of Heaven sung to perfection by (honestly, I died) and they both exited to the 90s party version of the same song and I have goosebumps thinking about it. Just wild.

My job is the bestest 💖💖💖

Shared this to my stories but can’t stop thinking about this mantra for life so reckon it needs a place on the grid ✨

When I finish a meeting, I often get couples messaging me saying I’d made them feel so excited for the wedding and this makes me feel sooooo good. I also interact with people on the daily who leave me better than they found me. Thank you to those special humans 💖

Imagine the upward spiral we’d be on if had this on our mind every time we interacted with someone? Leave people better than you found them. Works for all aspects of life 🫶

PS. recommend buying yourself a coupla ‘Tombow’ pens from Amazon and getting into some mindful hand lettering and making it part of your job and tax deductible somehow 😆

As I prepare to properly open my laptop for the first time since before Christmas, I’m reminded just how grateful I am to have found this profession.

Thank you to every person who has recommended me to their marrying friends, dropped my name in a Facebook group and left me a review. Every one of these acts has helped me to make this job my full time gig.

It’s a job that not only lights me up, but allows me to light up other people and make them feel at ease. It also gives me the flexibility to be present and available for this crew. I can help out at school, do pick ups and drop offs and also go to yoga pr Pilates at 920 on a weekday 😆 (what even is this life?)

So I want to say a huge thank you to every person who sings my praises and helps me to keep doing the thing I kinda feel I was born to do 🙏🏻

Closing out 2023 with the closing line of Rhys’ vows at my final wedding of the year 😂 Naileddd it.

2023 has had such a fab mix of weddings. I’ve married 48 couples:
7 x elopements/micro weddings
3 x legals only
38 x weddings

I’ve said this every year for the last 9 years, but I just marry the best people 💖

Thank you to my awesome couples, my past couples from the last 9 years who continue to sell me to their friends 😂 the people who come up and say nice things after weddings, my friendors who are just the greatest and my celebrant buds who I feel so blessed to call my colleagues. I feel so lucky to have a job that is so full of love and lovely people✨

It’s been a very intermittent year of Insta posting (I think this is my 30th for the year) and I’m ok with that 🤗

My out of office is on til the 8th of Jan WOOOOP but I’ll be seeing you all next year for more sporadic posting (you can always rely on me for tv and book recommendations in my stories.Seriously. Oh, Bron and Emma 💞

We had:
✔️my first ‘meeting at Bunnings’ story (thank you 😂)
✔️teen boys dancing their way down the aisle
✔️a 7 year old ring security guard complete with lock up ring box and bubble guns
✔️gifts given to the kids to represent Emma officially becoming their family
✔️vows that incorporated Taylor Swift lyrics (yes, you can leave the lights up til January), quoted the Holistic Psychologist and spoke to the childhood dreams that played out just right 😭
✔️ a reading by Bron’s mum which was the lyrics to the song attached 💞 and ceremony music by the beautiful
✔️an acknowledgement of the LGBTQI community who worked tirelessly before them to make this day possible, and of those who never got to have their day
✔️a shoutout to the people present who are the people who only ever championed them and celebrated their relationship from the start
✔️a scheduled meeting for me, Emma and Bron at a cafe which never happened due to car crash on the way there (everyone ok but yeah 🙈😂)
✔️and most importantly, a celebration of a deep love and connection between two people (and their family) that grows deeper and stronger every single day.

This one was an adventure and a real treat of treats 💞 so much love for you and your fam .louise.87 thank you so much for having me ✨

I first met Scott and Tayla in 2019 when we had the funnest zoom chat to talk about their wedding in 2020. It was an instant connection between the 3 of us and I knew they were my people.

At the time, Scott was studying in Adelaide and Tayla was living and working in Melb so they joined the meeting from their separate states and talked about how they were doing long distance but making the effort to travel whenever they could. Then 2020 happened and well, we all know how that played out. I didn’t hear from them for…years 😂 I wasn’t into hassling people about when they were planning to reschedule, I just let them figure it out. People’s lives and priorities changed so much over that time.

But I was DELIGHTED to hear from Scott in March this year with the world’s best email/life update seen in the next slide.

We then started planning their wedding 2.0 for 3 months later. It was the most beautiful, intimate and perfect celebration of two of the most connected people I’ve ever met, in the presence of just their immediate families.

They had a big party a month later where they re-said their vows and I’m still marveling about how two people individually can be so lovely.

I know we were meant to be I feel so privileged I’m now a little part of your love story forever and ever and ever. ❤️❤️❤️

SOUND ON 📢Sophie and Rob met online just under 3 years ago. They’d messaged a bit until Sophie not so subtlety mentioned on a beautiful sunny Boxing Day in Melbourne ‘today would be a great day for a beer’. So Rob amazingly comes up with this idea ‘we should meet up at a beer garden this arvo’. He gets ready (after an outfit check and once over from Mum) and goes out to meet the woman who would become his wife.

Beers (many beers) and tequila shots were consumed on this beautiful sunny day, and the first date ended with the two new drunken besties heading to Sophie’s to watch her favorite Christmas movie The Grinch.

And it’s kinda continued like this since that day. They found a soul mate, a best friend, a person who simply felt like home from the very start. It was kind of unbelievable to both of them just how right it felt. When you know you know, and there’s no doubt that this is IT.

The Post Office Hotel is the closest thing I have to an office. I turn up there and I’m welcomed like part of the team ✨I’m so proud to be part of the POH family and so excited to spend the day there next Sunday at the open day. HELP! I’ve come back from conference in Bali with SO MANY IDEAS. I feel so inspired and rejuvenated and excited and kinda don’t know where to begin. I also had old mate Andrie the intuitive healer unblock my chakras somehow in an incredible sound bowl experience and healing sesh so I’m also feeling very unblocked chakra wise 😂 (don’t ask me to explain this lol, I’ve borrowed a book from the library on chakras so watch this space).

I have returned right in the DO phase of my cycle too, which has meant I want to do ALL the things and I want to do them RIGHT NOW. I’m googling sound bowls to buy, watching reiki courses on YouTube, writing lists of all the things I wanna learn and DOOOO. I might even make a reel WHAT (don’t hold me to this one 😂).

So this post by (shared by TCS) really spoke to me today, I’m aware I need to chill the fu*k out 😂 Breathe, Wendy. It’s a whole damn staircase. One step at a time.

Honestly, I feel so unbelievably grateful and privileged to have had a week away learning more about myself and being utterly taken care of by .kate .may.alexander .work.wives and so thankful to my beautiful friend the most amazing roomie 💖💖💖

Yesterday marked 50 years of celebrants in Australia and it seems like a wasted opportunity not to mark it here on the grid 🫶

I’m so proud and grateful to have been a part of the celebrant world for 9 of those years. I’ve married 250ish amazing couples (I stopped counting at 100), made lifelong friends in these couples and other beautiful wedding vendors, been on MAFS twice (life goal at the time) and created a biz and brand that has evolved along the way and that I’m so super proud of. I’m also going to Bali kid free on a tax deductible ‘celebrant conference’ which feels like an absolute dream co true.

The best development BY FAR though, was the amendment to the Marriage Act in 2017 to allow for marriage equality 🌈 a day I’ll never forget.

So anyways, thanks to my wonderful couples and celebrant/wedding biz buddies for making this such a fun ride and for allowing me to do a job that feels so completely right for me 💖💖💖

I have a confession to make: I LOVE Winter in Melbourne.

I love how when I put on my puffy jacket it feels like I’m wearing a doona. I love how when it’s grey outside there’s zero fomo about anyone doing anything else besides mooching about the house. I love how when the sun’s out, it’s cold and crisp and not burny burny. I love that glorious moment of hopping into bed when I’ve remembered to turn my electric blanket on. I LOVE my new electric couch blanket (omg, life changing. $60 from Target. Recommend). I love lazy days. I love that I have a job that’s quiet over winter so I don’t do my nails, wear make up or wear anything other than my beloved winter casual wardrobe every day (though without weddings, I do struggle to find reasons to wash my hair which does become an issue). I love how it gets dark early which means I’m in my PJs sometimes around 5. I love the fire in my house. I love that there’s less social engagements and less pressure to do stuff. I love hearing rain on the roof. Besides my propensity for chillblains 😝 (not this year though yay). I love it all honestly.

so where’s my fellow winter lovers at? Please tell me I’m not alone here in my love for cold days ❄️❄️❄️

Emceeee! 🎤

I’ve done a few MC gigs now and it’s been the funnest. I don’t have any cheesy gags up my sleeve but I just continue the warm, relaxed and friendly vibes created from the ceremony into the night.

I’ll also liase with all the important people (speakers, vendors, venue staff) to make sure everyone is across what’s happening so it’s all seamless and you can just swan around all night soaking up the love of your guests and not think for a moment about any single logistical thing. I’ve got it covered.

A great added bonus for me is hearing the funny, beautiful, emotional speeches and getting to know your friends and family through the night too. I honestly love it.

Never in my wildest, most dreamiest of dreams could I have imagined the places I’d end up as part of my ‘job’ when I started out celebranting 8 years ago 💫💫

The delightful and flew over from the US to get married in our beautiful state and I was one of 3 lucky, lucky people in attendance. They spoke their personal vows in Spanish, and while the only word I understood was ‘loco’ my eyes were still pretty wet throughout the whole dang thing.

Thank you soooo much my gorgeous ones, I feel incredibly blessed to have been a part of your magical elopement.

An Aussie and a Kiwi walk into a travel agent in their respective parts of the world. The two unknowing soulmates peruse all the tour companies, all the itinerary variations and departure dates, and of all the 1000s of possible combinations of these three things, they book onto the very same Contiki tour. They first meet in Rome form a bond to last a lifetime. As if you don’t believe in fate?!

I don’t use the term soulmates lightly but these two are it ❤️

Putting this photo on the grid to show my future couples where I stand during most of your ceremony and how freakin’ cute it looks when the couple is side by side, looking out at all the moist (yes, I said moist) heart eyes of their guests. They can also cuddle, link arms, lean into each other and it makes for CA-UUUUTE AF photos. It’s also grounding, calming and more natural to stand like this rather than facing each other, holding sweaty hands for a full 20 awkward minutes so there’s that too.

Hey 👋🏻 I’m Wendy. I’ve actually never done an ‘about me’ post so here’s some things you may not know about me:

🌎 I visited all 7 continents by the age of 31. The last was Antarctica and I’m happy to talk about it aaaaanytime

🤓 I studied a Bachelor of Science and did an honors year in Chemistry.Then went on to study Primary Teaching and not long after it was done, travelled on/off for 2 years, came back and became a travel agent 🤷🏼‍♀️My HECS debt is allllmost paid off a billion years and careers later 🤪

📚 I’m an introvert at heart and my favourite activities tend to be solo, silent ones: reading, watching TV, yoga, meditating, Pilates, walking my dog.

🍂I grew up in Albury and feel a strong kinship with country folk. We now live in Diamond Creek which feels like the perfect balance of country and city life. I loooove it here 🤩

And…breathe ✨ I always remind my couples - early on in their ceremony - to breathe. I give them the chance to take a few breaths, look around, look at each other and bring themselves fully into the moment.

I like to remind guests to do the same. To wash off whatever came before they arrived and allow themselves to be right there, fully present, celebrating love ❤️

There’s so much happening in the day - getting ready, photos, getting the venue, nerves, anxiety about what might happen…but when you’re up the there, I’ll do my best to make sure your heart rate comes down so you can be right there ✨in.the.moment✨

Tom and Nina first locked eyes 10 years ago from afar. They both instantly had this feeling that the other was someone very special. A quick chat confirmed this and Tom remembers walking away from this chat and looking back toward Nina at the exact time that she looked back at him. I mean, come on!! 😭😭

Tom tracked down Nina’s number the very next day and they chatted on the phone have talked every single day ever since. I’m dead.

But it gets better.

They both knew about a month or so in that this was it for them, but they felt kinda embarrassed to admit this to anyone else. Who would believe them as 18 years olds? Fast forward to now and 10 years in, they are as gorgeous together (and separately) as two humans couple possibly be.

Chatting to Nina’s mum before the ceremony, we were marveling at just how perfect they are together and she told me that in 10 years, she has never - not once - heard them say a harsh word to each other.

Tom and Nina, you stole absolutely everyone’s heart on this day and I feel beyond blessed blessed blessed to have been given the honour of doing justice to your story on your wedding day.

How is doing this job even real life?! 💞💞💞💞💞💞

Laura and Adrian met 18 years ago at the good old Anglers Tavern back when they were just 18 themselves and had cute matching side fringes (the early 2000s were a tiiime). They shared their first kiss in said tavern with their friends making kissy signs behind their backs 💋💋

18 years later, they’ve shared a gazillion milestones, grown up and changed together but also kinda remained the same. Fun-loving, hard working, funny, ambitious, down to earth, humble legends who are the epic party hosters amongst their friends. They also run a successful business together, using their separate strengths that make them most incredible team.

Honestly, it blows my mind how people can meet so young and stay on the same path throughout all the formative years and changes that your 20s bring.

it really was a pleasure to seal the deal for you two. It was also a pleasure to think about you with your matching hairdos smooching on the dance floor with your friends making smoochy noises in the background 😂💋💋💋

Oh hey! Happy new year! How was Christmas? I’ve missed you!

It’s been a whiiiiiile. My relationship with socials has been *complicated* since forever 🤪

I get overwhelmed when I think about posting and what to post and what to write and will my couples be offended if I post another couple and not them and does it appear like I’m bragging or showing off and I don’t want to learn reels and does anyone even look at posts anymore and are my captions too long and am I posting too many photos of myself and why is my brain so foggy and and anddddd….! 🤯anyone feel me?

I’m also trying to find the right balance between being here in the Gram-land (made that up), chatting with my insta friends I love so much and connecting about all my favourite things (TV, books, movies, pop culture) BUT also being in the moment in my actual real life doing my best to maintain focus while my son describes something in Minecraft to me. Which is somewhat easier when you’re not taking a sneaky look at your DMs and insta-story replies during such conversations 😬

So yeah, it’s complicated 😂 but I do love my community so much here so I’ll keep searching for the right balance.

I also love marrying people a LOT and I’m so grateful that that’s what brought you all here in the first place which has led me to this very first world problem 🤗

At Courtney and Tess's micro wedding, right after we acknowledged the very long human history of the beautiful Aboriginal land we were celebrating on, we acknowledged another very important group of people. The wording is below (and on the next slide). I had to keep my voice from cracking as I read this aloud, and there were audible sobs and sighs from their 13 guests. Chills ✨

From the essay length emails full of !!! and emojis, warmth and laughter from the get go, we knew Wendy was meant to marry us!! Instant best friend, total romantic, sunshine celebrant soulmate energy!!
I've no doubt Wendy has this effect on everyone she meets (in person or virtually!), but we immediately felt comfortable and connected with Wendy, and truly felt we had met someone special, who matched our energy and vibe and excitement and all the feeeeeeeeels we could ever have, and then some!!
