Hiya,
As well as having Philomena full of flowers everyday with flowers ranging from $10-$40 we also offer daily deliveries to Wangaratta for orders over $50. If you’re ever in a pinch I do occasionally deliver for orders less than $50, I’m usually driving into town anyway illegally parking everywhere. You might have even got stuck behind me on a roundabout. Flowers are hard to travel with. Anyhoo, this is a perfect option for birthdays and special occasions, basically something a little more 🎀fancy 🎀. Arrangements come in a jar with a card and ribbon. We can also try cater to certain colours and flowers, all season dependent of course.

Alrighty flower friends Philomena will be officially back Saturday the 7th of September. Sorry for the muck around, the weather this year has slowed growth on the blooms and I want to ensure Philomena is consistently and constantly stocked with quality blooms, hence why I’ve pushed back the date. She will return to her usual 7 days a week, 8am to nightfall and I’ll be returning to daily deliveries so send me a message or order online. I will also keep everyone updated on a date for a spring open day, I’ve had issues with my ranunculus germination this year but I’m hoping that won’t stop us from hosting a ‘pick your own’. I just want the best for my flower pals.

Philomena is finally returning for a new season! Woohoo!
This Saturday from 8am, she’ll be loaded with goodies including bunches of tulips, stock, ranunculas and more. She will also then return to opening everyday from 8-sun down. Cash, bank transfer and payment via website all available.
Philomena also has some new additions and I’ll be sharing during the week. Come say hi this Saturday, she’s missed you!

Hello flower friends.
Unfortunately Jack Frost visited our flower field last night and MURDERED all of my blooms. I was hoping to go another week and do a big final harvest sale alas, that does mean it is the end of another flower season. Sorry for the anti climax.
Thankyou to everyone who supported another year at Frances Cecil! I absolutely love what I do and basically all I ever wanted with this farm was for people to feel a little bit of joy when they purchased or received our blooms. I hope this rings true. We will be back in August with the spring goods and our Spring and Summer subscriptions for 2024/2025 season are now available. Thankyou again for putting up with my flower nonsense.

THANKYOU to everyone who supported us this Mothers Day weekend. This was our first time selling for Mothers Day and it was definitely a learning experience but was also very exhilarating, fun, and hectic. Don’t ask me what the harvest shed looks like. A big big thankyou to my Mummy Crazy Carol whose Mothers Day present was picking flowers for me until 1am Friday and Saturday night. I think she hates me. No shoutouts to my Pop who didn’t want to help because he had a “date with the bakery” . A hero.

Chrissies!!
Chrysanthemums are the IT girl of autumn. I personally love them because they remind me of Anne of Green Gables, have a long vase life and are as pretty as my sister. Just kidding my sister is ugly. Anyhoo, I’ll be making up straight bunches as well as mixed bunches in Philomena so come grab yourself a little bunchy bunch. All profits will be going towards Martha’s cryogenic freezing fund. Autumn is truly the best. 🍁🍂🍁🍂

THANKYOU to everyone who came along to our pick-your-own today. I’m always very nervous to open up the farm, having nightmares that no one will come and then am always overwhelmed by the lovely and supportive people who show up. Days like today are a timely and perfect reminder of why I started the farm in the first place. As always, I owe a great deal of thanks to my family, in particular my mum Carolyn who baked all the scones and whilst working full time still manages to make time to grow a crazy, whimsical garden for everyone to enjoy. Another shoutout to my brother Ollie for working the welcome tent, my sister Tess, Keith, the Archer family, Merle, Aunty Mary and my gorgeous gorgeous Pop. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, garden people are the best people. I hope you enjoyed coming along to our little farm, we loved having you. 💖💖💖💖💖

Better late than never, we will be hosting an open gate/pick- your-own on Sunday the 21st of April from 8am-1pm.
We welcome you to come have a sticky beak, explore the garden, steal some cuttings, and pick your own bouquet for $25.

Cut and Care Guide Stinkies. ✨💖🌱🌸
Quick Trim:
When you receive your bouquet trim 1cm off your stems at a 45 degree angle. This provides more surface area for the flowers to drink and prevents the stems from sitting flush to the bottom of the vase where bacteria can build up.

H20 Just Add Water:
Don’t be afraid of the water Cleo, change your water everyday. (I’m lazy so I probably do it every 2 or 3 days but it’s better than no days!)

Don’t Forget The Vase:
Who would have thought flowers are quite poor in the hygiene department… they do leave a bit of a mess. Give your vases a real good clean between arrangements with hot soapy water and give them a good old scrub.

Feed your Flowers:
Add 1 tsp bleach and 2 tsp sugar to your water to help keep it clean, it also provides a tasty treat for your flowers.

No No’s:
Keep your flowers away from direct sunlight, extreme heat, and fruit (my brother EXCELS at this step because he lives in a den and hasn’t laid eyes on a piece of fruit in years)

Hunger Games: The Flower Edition
It’s last flower standing. Each flower has a different vase life so pick out the flowers that fade and wilt first to keep the bunch looking fresh.

The Above & Beyond Club:
If you are really serious about getting longevity from your flowers you can use a technique called scalding. Scalding is the flower equivalent to eating a maccas cheeseburger after a big night out..it will help make you look less like death warmed up. When your flowers are starting to droop cut roughly 1cm off your stems and dip them into boiling water for 30 seconds. Immediately place them back into fresh water and voila! they will perk right back up and look and feel like new born babies.

Zinnias. The IT girl of summer.
I direct seed zinnias in Mid October and they’ll stick around until the first frost May. They love our hot hot days and come in an array of colours. They are up there with small joys such as rainbows, sunshine and watching my brother get yelled at by my mum.
I have lots in the garden atm so I’ll have straight bunches of them all week at Philomena.
