"Lyonesse" is a 1930's Queensland Gable style home which was transported from Moorooka to Kingsthorpe in 1994 and is now surrounded by stunning gardens which have been developed over the years. The garden has won numerous prizes in the Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers Chronicle Garden Competition. The gardens are set on just over half an acre, and you are able to choose from the Secret Garden, Crepe
Myrtle Lawn, Informal Australian Native Garden or Formal Rose Garden. There are a number of bridges, a dry creek bed and also lots of other secret treasures and romantic spots to discover throughout the garden. The fairy garden is an ideal setting for a children's photo shoot and the Formal Rose Garden would make for a very romantic wedding or engagement sunset photo shoot.
The wonderful privilege of having a garden that is loved by wildlife. The Australian Native Spotted Pardalote bird has nested in the hanging pot again. The babies are very vocal and I think just about ready to fledge. The parent bird has been busy going in an out all day feeding them. I fairly certain I can hear two babies chirping in the nest.

The area between the shed and the container has been cleaned out and is ready for something new.

Gotta love Aldi. One of the new solar path lights I got in a twin pack last week. They look fantastic and light up the pathway to the clothesline beautifully 😍
Gone is the old cast iron handbasin. In its place is a new birdbath. Hopefully the birds will love this one.

The RSL Rose is just stunning and is putting on some beautiful blooms.
What better way to get over your morbid fear of Praying Mantis than to have a 2 foot Praying Mantis ornament in your garden. This one must be a friendly one as it has a pet butterfly (I'll keep telling myself that)😍
I'm loving my Australian Native Flannel Flower at the moment. It has a beautiful display of delicate flowers just in time for Carnival.
These are quite easy to grow in a pot if you have a sheltered spot in dappled shade.
The garden will be open during Carnival of Flowers, 9am - 5pm each day from the 15th - 24th of September 2023. Looking forward to seeing you all.
I attended The Chronicle Garden Competition Awards ceremony this morning. After a year off to repair the damage of flooding in 2022 and a black frost at the end May 2023 the garden was awarded 3rd prize Regional Residential Large Garden. The lead up to judging was a challenge with both my husband and my father in hospital but we got there. Sadly our Australian Native garden has to compete with gardens full of annuals which I am not prepared to change over to. Thankyou to all our friends and family for the love and support you have shown.
The garden will be open from 9am -5pm each day from the 15th -24th of September 2023.

A beautiful Australian Native Grass Tree has found a home in the garden. It looks fantastic in its new spot 😍😍😍
I love the dainty flowers of my Australian Native Arrow Head violet. These wonderful little plants self seed and love the shade
Boot planters cleaned up and repainted. Once I have hand painted some daisy flowers back on them they will be ready for planting. They're going to look beautiful back in their spot. Can't wait for you to see them 😍
My feature door is all finished and hanging back in place. Just need to refresh the area around it now with some pretty flowering pot plants.
A couple of sweet little bird feeders have found a home in the garden. I'll fill them with some Australian Native Bird Seed mix. Hopefully all my lovely little Australian Native resident birds will enjoy them.
My love has done an absolutely wonderful job of renewing the chessboard area. I got the new outdoor chessboard pieces two years ago and they are finally in place ❤️❤️❤️
The delicate yellow flowers of my Australian Native Conostylis are starting to emerge. This is a wonderful little grass like plant.

Another fantastic find from the Esk Garden and Lifestyle Fair. A fabulous Australian Native Lyrebird sculpture. It looks great in its new spot in the Western side Australian Native garden. Will look even better once the log is planted out.
The Esk Garden and Lifestyle Fair did not disappoint. The garden is now home to a beautiful Australian Native Cycad- Macrozamia. This one has been saved from destruction in the wild.
Hollow logs are in place in the western side Australian Native garden and ready for planting.
Another new feature for the garden. This little bird bath was hidden in another part of garden behind a hedge. It looks really great paired with banksia sculptures.
The garden is now a member of Backyards for Biodiversity and the sign is on the gate post 😍
The flowers of my Banksia "Giant Candles" are maturing beautifully 😍
Something new for the garden from OldnDazed. I'm going to see if I can make them a feature in amongst some real Aussie Native Banksias

"Once a Jolly Swagman"........my new garden feature. I have placed him over the bridge by the dry creek bed in the western side Australian Native garden. He looks fantastic 😍
Lest We Forget ⚘️
A garden area on the eastern side refreshed and renewed this weekend. Gone are the Salvias that had become overgrown and untidy. (I have planted some more salvias in another part of the garden for the bees). In their place are some low growing Australian Native Correas and Banksias. Should be a beautiful spot once they all grow and start to flower

A gorgeous Dome Tent spider has cast her web in the garden. This is only the second one I have seen in the garden over the years. These are an Orb Spider and are harmless to humans
A beautiful Quail has come out of hiding and has been wondering around the garden near the rainwater tank 😍
The Aussie Native Swamp Foxtail grass has loved the recent rain and is putting on a beautiful display. It looks stunning with the Grevillea Winter Delight at the front which is also in full bloom.
Exciting times in the garden at the moment. Another Banksia is coming into flower. This is Banksia "Giant Candles".
