Entries are still being accepted for the 12th annual Kingborough Art Prize, run by the Lions Club of Kingborough at the Kingborough Community Hub this October.

The exhibition will have a first prize of $1,000 for the best work exhibited, and three category prizes of $600 each.

We're on the lookout for local makers, designers, and producers for our upcoming Christmas Bazaar at the Hub this December. Chairs and tables provided.

Senior community members are invited to join a guided bushland walk along Alum Cliffs on Thursday 12 September.

Starting at Tyndall Road, the first 5-10 metres are slightly challenging, the walk then opens out to a gentle grade. Walking sticks would be advised for a more comfortable walk. The beautiful Alum Cliffs Walk is about 900m in total.

Walkers will enjoy a simple picnic lunch with the group and be shown local flora along the way by a staff member from the Natural Areas department.

Tassal Seafood are holding a 'Steer your Career on the Water' information day at the Kingborough Community Hub on Wednesday 28 August.

Departments represented on the day will be Sustainability and Environment, Diving, Marine Operations, Communities, Talent and Farming.

Come and join a free information session and learn about a career in the industry. People are encouraged to bring their CV if they would like to. There are no age limits and all are welcome.

It's not too late to get your ticket to tonight's refugee week event, held at the Kingborough Community Hub from 6pm - 8pm.

Special guest Arad Nik [Persia's Pantry] will share the story of his journey to Tasmania as a refugee from Southern Iran. Arad fled his country in August 2012 after being imprisoned for writing about and advocating for his minority group in Iran.

He came to Australia to seek asylum, where he chose the beautiful landscape of Tasmania to call home and to share his love of food and stories with the community. He now sells his Persian delicacies at markets and stores around Hobart.

Hear from Arad and then enjoy the screening of 'Rosemary's Way' while you enjoy delicious Ethiopian dinner by Queen Sheba Injera Catering.
