We still have a few tickets left for the Japanese Calligraphy workshop with Maiko Howell.

Don’t miss this unique opportunity to immerse yourself in the art of Japanese calligraphy and connect with community members from diverse backgrounds.

When: Thursday, 30 January | 4:30 PM - 6:30 PM
Where: KIN Creative Space (behind Kingston Beach Hall), 20 Beach Road Kingston Beach

During the workshop, you'll learn the Japanese New Year's writing tradition, Kakizome, and create your own brush-written ambitions or prayers for the year ahead.

Join a presentation by a Stroke Foundation Volunteer, who will present information about stroke and its prevention.

When: Tuesday 4 February | 10.45am - 12pm
Where: Kingborough Community Hub, 7 Goshawk Way, Kingston

The talk will cover the following and allows time for Q&A:

- What is stroke – what happens when someone is having a stroke
- Explanation of the different types of stroke
- How to recognise the signs of stroke with the vital FAST signs
- What to do if someone is having a stroke
- How to prevent stroke

If you feel like joining a group walk today, we still have spots available for this afternoon's walk with Serlina.

When: Today Monday 20 January | 5.15-6.15pm
Where: Meet in front of the Whitewater Room at the Kingborough Community Hub, 7 Goshawk Way, Kingston
All fitness levels welcome, especially people who are new to exercise and want to have a group for encouragement and support. Serlina is a qualified fitness instructor and will lead the walk.

Future dates include 3, 17, 24 February (excludes Regatta Day).

Learn Japanese Calligraphy with Maiko Howell as we invite community members from diverse cultures to share their unique traditions and experiences with the Kingborough community.

Taroona resident Paul Pritchard will show his documentary ‘Larapinta – End to End’ at the Hub, followed by Q&A with himself and co-director Mike Sampey.

When: Wednesday 12 February at 4.30PM – 6PM
Where: Auditorium at the Kingborough Community Hub, 7 Goshawk Way, Kingston

Paul Pritchard, author and disability educator who was left paralysed in the right side of his body while climbing the Totem Pole in 1998, was accompanied by an all-disabled team who completed the iconic Larapinta Trail, once of Australia's most challenging multi-day desert treks.

The film has been extensively engaging viewers – encouraging discussion and debate, not only about ‘dignity of risk’ but wider human rights issues.

Tickets are free, coffee, tea and biscuits provided.
