Summer posies

Some little summer posies have been dropped off at this morning.

Bouquets! 🤩

There are 3 yummy flower filled mixed bouquets available for purchase. $35 each.

Made of dahlias and Matricaria (tiny daisies), some with zinnias, some with roses. All grown locally and chemical free in my little urban micro flower farm in Kurri Kurri and harvested fresh this morning as the sun rose.

DM to grab one and arrange collection. I can also deliver this afternoon within 15kms of kurri kurri for a $5 delivery fee.

The Matricaria is flushing 🤩

It is bittersweet, I had high hopes for summer blooms, I had planned and planted hundreds of snapdragons and delphinium along with the Matricaria to have lots of blooms right now, but Mother Nature happens and plans fail. My snaps are terrible and my delphinium all failed to thrive and died.

I’m thinking the lesson in it is to plant the snaps, delph and matricaria earlier (late winter instead of early spring) and I still need to get my succession planting sorted out. I’m not very good at successions.

This mornings harvest is super pretty!

The queen of dahlias has made an early spring appearance and I am in love all over again. How can you not love a Cafe Au Lait.

Ruffley, fluffy, yummy ranunculus….

Salmon and Pastel Ranunculus are starting to flush, so some pretty mixed bunches will be available this weekend.

The scent of the stock and bearded iris is amazing. The bearded iris have this soft honey scent and we know how I feel about the stock. Yum!

An afternoon arranging flowers. My heart is full! Thank you to all of the wonderful ladies who joined me today to enjoy an afternoon arranging flowers. It brought me joy to be able to share my love of flowers and gardening with you, and to guide you through designing your own vase arrangements. I thoroughly enjoyed chatting with you all and getting to know a little bit about each of you. Shout out to the The Yoga Tea House Australia for their amazing hospitality and venue. The Yoga Tea House Australia is so warm and inviting, you can feel all of the love and good energy Ohna has put into it. I highly recommend you pop by and try the wide range of artisan teas and one of her house made cakes. And of course a yoga class! I also need to share my gratitude for Elsa from @hunter_forage. A cottage garden compote. Sweets scented blooms and rambling, twisting stems shooting up to soak up the sunlight and sway in the breeze. I love the transition into spring, the colour emerging in the garden, the cool sun drenched mornings and the warm afternoons. Our springs are usually short and we move into very warm spring days quickly, so I am really enjoying these mild spring days. Friday flower practice with a little bowl arrangement. This is what is currently blooming in my garden. Poppies, pansies, daisies, cosmos and snowdrops. The garden is starting to get a little colour to it. The poppies have started to flower and I am so excited. I have missed having flowers in the garden. The anemones, ranunculus and stock are still growing and probably won’t be blooming until spring. The sweet peas went in late so they’re still a long way off. I recently added some more roses to my collection, some more Princess Charlene de Monaco de Monaco (my favourite) and some Julia’s Rose which I can’t wait to see flowering. Spring is so close.

Mothers Day pre sale bouquets are getting prepped and ready for pick up tomorrow from @spodelinewcastle There will also be a limited number of grab and go bouquets available at @spodelinewcastle in the morning.

The Sunday line up 🌸🌧️💛 There is a soft rain here today, and I gotta say, this is my favourite kind of rain. The garden loves this kind of rain. I’m just sitting on my porch watching it hit the petals of the tired cosmos. It’s quite relaxing.

A little behind the scenes into this weekends seasonal bouquets. 🌸delphinium 🌸dahlias 🌸stock 🌸snapdragons 🌸cosmos (And zinnias) There will be four (4) bouquets available for collection tomorrow from Kurri Kurri. Probably my last including #HunterFlowerFarm blooms. I need to start preparing my beds for Ranunculus, Anemones, Poppies and Stock and that means I need to turn over the current season blooms 😞 Go on… slide into my DMs and reserve yourself a small seasonal bouquet. The dahlias are in full bloom and I could just stand here and look at them day. As much as I’m enjoying them right now, I also know that soon I’ll have to cut them back and start preparing for my garden beds for spring flower planting, which starts at the end of April. These beauties will not be around much longer.
