A few days ago, I joined a beautiful group created by Moni from called the Conscious Closet Collective.
It’s a space to honor secondhand fashion while gently reflecting on and reimagining our relationship with consumerism.
Together, we’re setting the intention to limit ourselves to no more than five *new* clothing purchases this year.
Not long ago, this might have felt like a big challenge for me. Even though I’ve always loved op shopping, I still found myself chasing the thrill of a new purchase—equating it, at times, with a sense of accomplishment.
The high never lasted long.
Detangling patterns of behavior is a long road, but it’s vital—for our growth, our well-being, and the health of the earth.
These days, I can’t imagine buying anything brand new—except maybe shoes for the kids!
This isn’t about boasting but rather sharing the power of change and the quiet momentum of small, intentional shifts that ripple into something much larger.
I don’t march in protests every week, flood inboxes with petitions, or take bold rebellious actions.
But this feels like a meaningful way I can contribute to positive change—a practice rooted in mindfulness, respect for resources, and gratitude for what already exists.
It’s not about perfection, but about taking small, steady steps toward a kinder way of being.
This image captures my favourite clothing moment from last year, this vintage skirt was reborn! Thanks to for showcasing such a stunning piece in their window ~ it caught my eye and heart!
