Heathermoor Peonies A family run business supplying peonies as cut flowers for weddings and special events.

Located at Latrobe in Tasmania's northwest, we grow beautiful shades of pink and white peonies for your wedding, party or special event. As these lovely plants only flower for 2-3 weeks of the year, we can supply peonies from mid November until early December. As the 2024 peony season rolls to a close at Heathermoor, we are incredibly grateful for your support this season.

The paddock has bloomed and the last bunches sold from our little farm-gate stand this afternoon. For now, we have a little time to focus inward before the invisible work of supporting our plants through summer and autumn begins. Then they will rest for winter, ready to do it all again in 2025.

Thank you for the support and love this season, from our family to you, it has meant so much.

We've decided to open up the gates tomorrow evening for a spontaneous twilight Pick Your Own session.

Details:

Picking entry (max 15 stems per entry) - $20
Non-picking adult - $5
Non-picking child (17 and under) - FREE
Secateurs will be available to purchase on the day if required.
Cash and Eftpos payment welcome

Requirements of Entry:
~ You are welcome to bring your own secateurs, however they will need to be sprayed with a supplied sanitiser for farm hygiene practices prior to entry 💦✂️
~All vehicles to be parked in the designated, signed parking areas 🪧🚗🚙
~ Payment is required prior to entry
~ Unfortunately there are NO toilets available at the peony patch
~ Please consider your footwear as this is a paddock. Flat, sturdy shoes are best! 👟👟
~ It is highly likely there will be bees present in the peony patch in low numbers 🐝
~ Unfortunately dogs are not permitted under any circumstances, INCLUDING in the carpark area. Please respect that this is a working farm and all dogs must be kept inside your vehicle whilst on the Heathermoor Property. (*Exception only to certified assistance dogs).

Our Farmgate stand is now stocked with peonies 🌸🌸🌸

Signs will go out later today, but if you know where to find the stand drop by this morning 😊

Updates:
🌸 This year we are welcoming both cash payment and bank transfer (details at the stand)
🌸 After having consistent pricing for over a decade, unfortunately this season is the year we have had to increase our bunch pricing. Bunches are now $15/bunch
🌸 The stand never "closes" during the season. From this morning, we endeavour to keep the stand stocked with peonies, refreshing the bunches multiple times a day, until our season ends (late Nov/early Dec). If you do arrive and find the stand empty, there is a phone number listed on the wall.

2024 SEASON UPDATE

The peonies are well and truly on their way, and we have the puzzle of forecasting the best dates to open up for you.

After a very dry autumn and then a prolonged cold snap in July some of our later varieties are a little confused with their timing and look to be coming sooner which may create a more condensed picking window than usual.

We are planning to start gate sales from Monday 11th November, and our main Pick Your Own weekend will be 16-17th November

More details once we start picking (hopefully this week) and can add in any extra dates.

Season update

Thank you to everyone who has engaged with us, visited the farm or purchased flowers this season.

Some of you might have expected to see us at Harvest Launceston this morning. Unfortunately our flowers did not hold up as well as we wanted in the coolroom this week and there were not sufficient flowers at a high enough quality to bring to market. We made a last minute decision yesterday not to come to harvest this weekend.

We have sorted enough to keep gate sales going, and they are expected to run out on Sunday 3rd.

Thank you again, we are looking forward to being back in 2024. 🌸🌸🌸

MONDAY 6th NOVEMBER 1PM-3PM

With the warmth today, the Marguerite Gerard (light pink) peonies are moving along.
We have decided to have a soft opening to the PYO days for 2023 by opening tomorrow, Monday 6th November 1pm-3pm.

All of our same PYO guidelines (below) apply, however parking will be along the grass nature strip of Abeys Road (signs will be out). The main carpark still needs to be cut for silage this week .

**Only the Marguerite Gerard peonies are blooming so far, the other colours are still ripening and wont be available for picking on Monday.

Our gate sales will open Sunday November 5th at 9am and continue until our season ends (expected early December).

We endeavour to keep the stand stocked with flowers at all times, and you are able to select from the available bunches. As the season progresses the varieties available will change. You will find the stand at our driveway at 181 Abeys Road Latrobe.

Bunches are $10 each, and due to the self-serve nature of our stand only cash payment is available.

We are pleased to release our peony varieties which we have for sale as rootstock this year.
Varieties are:
Flame
Shirley Temple
Marguerite Gerarde
Sarah Bernhardt
Felix Crousse
Marie Lemoine
early red (not correct name, we have not been able to confirm this variety)

Pricing (ex. gst) is:
$10 each - Flame, Shirley Temple, Marguerite Gerarde, Sarah Bernhardt, Felix Crousse
$15 each - Marie Lemoine
$8 each - early red

Pre-arranged collection is available from Latrobe and also the Tamar Valley. Delivery may be possible to some areas of Tasmania. If required, postage will be at the buyers expense via Australia Post.

For local customers we also have a bed of mature plants of Felix Crousse and Marguerite Gerarde mixed together and not labelled. We will selling these larger plants for $10, however cannot determine which of the two varieties you will get. They are a great buy if you are after a plant which is already established and are happy with a surprise in the colour.

The last bunch!

This afternoon saw us finish bunching the last of our peonies for the season for tomorrow. We will have a limited supply of flowers on board (less than previous weeks) so pop down early if you're hoping to pick up a bunch.

We also expect that our gate sales will sell out tomorrow afternoon or Sunday morning. There are a couple of buckets of bunches left for gate sales in the coolroom so we will keep going until they are finished.

Even though our PYO and open days are over, you can still pop by the farm and pick up your own bunch to take home from our Gate Sales stand.

The stand is self serve (so cash only) and we restock throughout the day. We are anticipating we will be able to keep it stocked for another 10-14 days with the supply of flowers this season so if you were planning on getting some, please stop by soon.

Our Story

Located at Latrobe in Tasmania's northwest, we grow beautiful shades of pink and white peonies for your wedding, party or special event. As these lovely plants only flower for 2-3 weeks of the year, we can supply peonies from mid November until early December. We also work with a local florist who can do fantastic things with these flowers and highly recommend her.

Peonies are planted from pieces of root with growing points on them called “rootstock”. These are best dug in autumn and planted in autumn or winter. Through the cooler months we have rootstock available in various colours so please let us know if you want some of these marvellous flowers in your own garden.
