Throwback to Demi & Hayden's stellar day, because I'm forever obsessed so why not?
This one was a few firsts for me too:
🤍First time I feel in love with dusty blue as a colour palette hero
🤍First wedding to have proper umbrellas for the ceremony seating - total game changer
🤍First time realising a front porch could be the most beautiful ceremony backdrop
🤍First groom I was able to trust to not only do the DIY jobs assigned but totally smash it out of the park! (absolute dream bar setup)

PLANNER PRO TIP - if you want to 'be at your own cocktail hour' then you need to plan accordingly. It doesn't happen by chance..

It involves structuring your entire timeline to include everything happening before cocktail hour begins - meaning all your family photos, group shot, bridal party photos and couple portraits need to go somewhere.
Otherwise going from ceremony to cocktail hour with your guests and then trying to switch back to photos afterwards what you are likely to find is your bridal party (or even selves) wanting to stay and mingle rather than be dragged away from the fun. Even harder to pull out Uncle Rick and Nanna Betty for family photos once they've found a spot in the shade or settled in by the bar.
And even if you manage to get them all out again - you do run the risk of spilt food and drink leaving the outfits a little less fresh than before..

So it's not impossible, just requires intentional planning within your timeline.

The usual solution is to smash out all of the family and group photos straight after the ceremony and then ensure the cocktail hour is still going when you finish up all your photos that you can then join in on.
OR!
You can be super clever like Cait & Nik here, and actually get your bridal party photos done before the ceremony - leaving them to mosey on over to their epic cocktail hour and be the ones to kick it all off with a champagne tower and score the very first Aperol Spritz of the day!

Yes it meant an earlier start/finish time for hair and makeup in the morning to achieve this, but it made for such a relaxing afternoon and things flowed so smoothly, watching the couple simply float from one beautiful space to the other without rush or stress made for a phenomenal wedding day - and obviously incredibly stunning photos too!

10/10 would recommend to any couples wanting to really be part of their cocktail hour and soak up the fun 🍸
