Tonight it's been 5 years since Launceston (and a few extra friends from out of town), put on a massive show for the Australian tourism industry's night of nights - the Qantas Australian Tourism Awards.

Over 840 guests, 4 kitchens built to serve 210 main meals and desserts each, pre and post-award events outside, and the main award presentations held in a 55-metre long marquee built over the top of the swimming pool, where the video screens were critical and the glass walls measured to the right heights to ensure guests could still enjoy the iconic view.

Events like these show just what Tasmania can create, especially because we all love to work together. It was also special to host these awards when the co-founder of Qantas, Sir Hudson Fysh was born and went to school right here in Launceston!
