About the film:
Blue Mountains Safe Space and The Edge Cinema are partnering to share with you the incredible documentary, Solstice by filmmaker Helen Newman. A film about a a hopeful, determined and positive story of change brought about by a community who experienced the heartbreaking tragedy of the death by su***de of 15 year old Mary Baker.
Beginning with the story of Maryβs parents, Annette and Stuart Baker, the film expands out to journey through Australia and across the globe documenting the stories of those who are daily on the frontline in the battle for better mental health care - the survivors of su***de. This film bravely steps into the gaping hole left when a person dies by su***de to begin conversations, unite communities and ignite positive change.
