DO YOU HAVE A PLAN?

FOR LIVESTOCK 🐄🐎 🐏🐖🐓AND DOMESTIC ANIMAL 🐕🐈OWNERS

If you live in a low lying area that has flooded before, now is the time to have a plan ready. Please tell your family and friends if this applies to them.

Some areas known to have livestock may include parts of:

🔸 Kemps Creek, Luddenham, Llandilo, Londonderry, Wallacia, Mulgoa, Berkshire Park, Silverdale, Castlereagh, Orchard Hills.

If you have livestock in low lying paddocks start thinking about where you will move them to higher ground or where you will relocate them to a safer location away from the flood plain.

If you live with companion animals in flood affected areas then now is a good time to think about where you are going to take your pets if needed.

Please remember our unit does not have the facilities to hold livestock and pets. The weather can be difficult to predict and previously some residents found it was too late to move their livestock. It is better to be prepared.

The NSWSES Get Ready Animals Page has a lot of helpful information.

In cooperation with Bathurst and Oberon Council’s, Lithgow City Council is currently involved in the Regional Drought Resilience Planning Program to develop a Regional Drought Resilience Plan. This Plan will identify our region’s priorities, provide a roadmap of actions to help us prepare and act early to respond to future drought risks, and reduce the impacts of drought on residents, environment, economy, and ultimately Council as well.

As drought affects us all, Council would like to collect some information via a quick voluntary survey regarding your own experiences of drought and/or water shortages, as well as what actions you may want to see prioritised to improve our resilience to future drought events across the region.

Your responses are confidential, and the survey will only take around 5 minutes to complete.

Your input to the collection of information around making our region more drought resilient is much appreciated, and the survey can be accessed by clicking the following link:
https://yoursay.bathurst.nsw.gov.au/drought-resilience

Alternatively you can share your feedback at a workshop:
📆Workshop 1 - Tuesday 10 October, 6.30pm - 8pm at WSU Lithgow Transformation Hub.

Telco Roadshow Events Coming to Lithgow Local Government Area

Lithgow City Council is facilitating two Telecommunication Roadshow events for the Lithgow local government area in cooperation with the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), and with Telstra, Optus, NBN Co and Regional Tech Hub.

These free public information events will allow residents and business owners to hear directly from each telco provider about digital blackspot areas and their plans for network and service improvements and upgrades across the LGA. Following the presentations, community members will be offered the opportunity to ask general questions to the telco panel, as well as meet with each representative on a one-on-one basis to discuss more immediate and personal telephone, internet, technology issues and possible solutions.

Both Telco Roadshow events will be held on Tuesday 8 August at the following locations:
10.30am to 12.30pm: WSU Transformation Hub, 154 Mort Street, Lithgow
5.30pm to 7.30pm: Capertee Community Hall, Castlereagh Hwy, Capertee

All individuals and businesses are invited to attend.
