Draw L226 Mooloolaba Miracle. We have delivered the winning call news… Congratulations to C Brampton*
A Champion Club member, with ticket #: 19727964 from Victoria. This fortunate supporter has won a grand prize package worth $2,383,111!

We learned of our supporter's strong connection to Surf Life Saving. Growing up on Sydney’s northern beaches and was saved himself when younger, quite literally “plucked out of the water”. Understanding the need to support our volunteer Surf Life Savers important work.

Thank you to all our supporters and Merry Christmas

| We are working with UNSW on a tool that can accurately predict when bluebottles will arrive on which beaches.

Using wind and swell forecasts and knowledge on the anatomy of bluebottles, the prediction tool will soon be tested on the Beachsafe App to alert all beachgoers on the likelihood of blueys visiting the beach with them.

☁️ Think you're safe from the sun on cloudy days? Think again! ☁️

Did you know UV rays can still be strong on cool or cloudy days? They can sneak through clouds and even reflect off them, making sun damage possible even when the sun’s hiding. Stay sun safe, no matter the weather:
☀️ Slip on a shirt
🧴 Slop on sunscreen
👒 Slap on a hat
🌤️ Seek shade
🕶️ Slide on sunglasses

Protect your skin and enjoy the day safely! ❤️💛

🌊 Stinger Sunday Spotlight: The Irukandji! 🌊

Don’t let its tiny size fool you—this 1–2 cm transparent box jellyfish is one of the world’s most venomous creatures. Often invisible to the eye, the Irukandji lurks in tropical waters, causing stings that can lead to serious symptoms, known as Irukandji Syndrome.

Where you’ll find it:
Tropical Australian waters north of Fraser Island (QLD), across the Northern Territory, and along WA’s coast to Exmouth.

What to do if stung:
⚠️ Symptoms like severe muscle pain, headache, vomiting, and high blood pressure can appear 5–40 minutes after the sting.
1️⃣ Remove the person from the water if it’s safe to do so.
2️⃣ Follow DRSABCD (Danger, Response, Send for help, Airway, Breathing, CPR, Defibrillator).
3️⃣ Call triple zero (000) for an ambulance.
4️⃣ Douse the sting area with vinegar for at least 30 seconds.
5️⃣ Monitor the casualty for at least 45 minutes and seek help from lifeguards if available.

Stay vigilant in tropical waters—this tiny stinger demands respect. ❤️💛

🌊 Stinger Sunday: Meet the Little Mauve Stinger! 🌊

This tiny jelly packs a punch! With its mushroom-shaped body (just 2–6 cm wide) and pink or mauve bell covered in little wart-like bumps, the Little Mauve Stinger is as fascinating as it is feisty. Its 8 pale brown tentacles can stretch up to 30 cm—watch out for those stinging capsules!

Where you’ll find it:
Common in Aussie waters, but occasionally swarms into Sydney for an uninvited visit.

What to do if you’re stung:
1️⃣ Gently remove any tentacles.
2️⃣ Rinse the area with seawater—no freshwater!
3️⃣ Use hot water (as warm as you can handle) for 20 minutes, or a cold pack if hot water isn’t available.
4️⃣ Get medical help if the pain persists.

Stay safe and keep an eye out for this colourful little critter! 🌊
