National Panda Day draws attention to one of the world's unique bears. Pandas are also one of the world's most endangered and adored animals.

Still, it is reported that there are less than 2,000 pandas left in the wild, due to habitat loss, farming, fur hunting, and other factors.
Pandas only live about 15 to 20 years in the wild, female pandas are only fertile two or three days of the year, a low birth rate contributes to their endangered status.

Panda bears play an important part in the ecosystem of China’s bamboo forests, by spreading seeds, and therefore, growing new vegetation, which serves both humans and animals. That’s why it is important to protect the panda and its environment.

Due to their massive size and strength, adult hippo's have few natural predators.
Still.....hippos are classified as vulnerable by the International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN).
Unregulated hunting for their meat, skin, and teeth, combined with shrinking habitats and increased hippo-human conflict have lead to a decline in populations across Africa.

My Story

I am proud to have introduced Professional Face and Body Art to the Shire of Manjimup and surrounds in 2017. Since moving to the southern forests I am missing my former career of 25yrs in veterinary nursing, with the final 13yrs in my dream position at Perth Zoo. I started a zoo files collection in 2019 and in 2020 I plan to use my art to raise awareness for animal conservation.
