We have had some enquiries regarding Scenic Rim Regional Council Biosecurity meeting - Tuesday 3rd September. The council had postponed/cancelled the hall booking a couple of weeks ago. As far as we know there is no meeting at the hall this Tuesday night. There must be some advertising still out there!

To all the wonderful 41 dancers who joined us at our dance this past Friday night, thank you from the bottom of our dancing shoes! The evening may have started off as a warm spring night, but by the time we bid adieu, it was definitely a little on the chilly side. Despite the cool, we tangoett’d and festival glided the night away, grooving to Mike Woollett-Honkytonk Man ‘s keyboard magic - that man is truly a master of the ivories! And let's not forget to thank the Maroon ladies’ and their light supper - it was enjoyed by everyone! We hope to see all your smiling faces back on the dance floor for our next shindig on Friday night, November 29th. Let's keep the good times rolling and the dance floor stomping!

Date Claimer - Garage Sale Trail - we want your stuff !

Get ready to uncover those hidden gems buried in your shed and donate them to our Garage Sale Trail 2024! We know you've got some questionable items collecting dust out there that are just begging to be set free. Let's face it, that collection of old garden gnomes and mismatched lawn furniture isn't doing anyone any favors. So why not clear out the clutter, make a donation, and help us raise some funds for the upkeep to the Maroon School of Arts Hall? Your shed will thank you, and who knows, you might even discover a new appreciation for that rusty old wheelbarrow you forgot you had. Let's turn your shed into our treasure trove all for a good cause!

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all who attended our charming old time dance this afternoon. It was a delight to witness the graceful and skilled dancers twirl across the wooden floor of our old hall. The spirit of Christmas in July truly brought forth a sense of joy and generosity among all who joined us. A special thank you to Mike Woollett-Honkytonk Man for his exceptional musical performance that added to the magic of the event.

We are also immensely grateful to those who dedicated their time and effort to prepare and bake the delicious afternoon tea. The generosity of those who donated and contributed prizes added an extra layer of excitement to the festivities. We look forward to welcoming you back for our next dance on Friday evening, the 30th of August, as we greet the arrival of Spring.

Among the captured memories in our photos are the winners of the most festive dresses, showcasing the creativity and style of our guests. We truly hope that you enjoyed your afternoon in our picturesque countryside, despite the unexpected visitor of a brown tree snake seeking shelter in the toilet pipe. Rest assured, we safely relocated the fella to a more suitable winter abode. Thank you once again for making our event truly memorable.

What's on this weekend in Maroon and surrounds!

On Sunday afternoon, we are hosting a themed Christmas in July old-time dance starting at 1 pm. If you have never attended one of our dances before, I encourage you to come along and join in the fun. Novices are welcomed, and guidance will be provided for those who need it.

Additionally, on Friday night, our neighboring community in Mt Alford is hosting a musical evening called Festival of Small Halls. This event is sure to be a fantastic night of live performances, and your support would mean a lot to the community of Mt Alford. I am personally hoping to get a ticket. I have attached a link to the event for more information. I urge you to consider attending to show our solidarity and support for our friends in Mt Alford. https://www.iwannaticket.com.au/event/festival-of-small-halls-winter-tour-2024-coastal-queensland-MzEzOTk

Furthermore, don't forget about the Roadshow in Rathdowney on Saturday night. If you enjoyed our Roadshow or missed out, this is a great opportunity to experience Rathdowney's hospitality. Please let them know if you will be attending for catering purposes 0400 241 357. We already have some members going, let us know if you want to join us.

I hope to see many of you at these events over the weekend. Thank you in advance for your support and participation. Flyers attached.

A huge thank you to all the locals of Maroon for coming out to the Roadshow on Friday Night! We had approximately 60 adults, we didn’t count the kids, who were having a ball playing on the hay bales! We are so grateful for the support from Scenic Rim Regional Council and for the delicious food they sponsored. Special thanks to Lacey and Hazel for making it all happen, and to everyone who baked, donated prizes, volunteered. And of course, a big shoutout to the band Usual Suspex for rocking the night! As usual we were all too busy to take photos but did manage a small handful. If you love our hall as much as we do, please take a moment to complete the survey that was handed out on Friday night. Your feedback is invaluable to us. Link to the survey: https://letstalk.scenicrim.qld.gov.au/community-hall-roadshows/surveys/community-hall-roadshows-survey
