THE FLIP FLOP THEATRE GROUP
For over 15 years Emma-Jane Dann has worked as a Drama Tutor for the 9-12 year old class at Marian Street Theatre for Young People. She has a Bachelor of Arts degree from NSW University, majoring in Theatre/Film Studies and History. For over five years she was a regular member of the NSW University Theatre Society and the New Theatre, Newtown. Following her degree she w
orked for over 12 years in television, working in production, continuity, casting, research and writing for children’s television. CLASSES FOR CHILDREN 9-12 YRS
The drama class would start with ‘warm ups’ both for voice and body. This will be followed by theatre games focusing on different aspects of drama, including story, characters and plot. The children will be working both in groups and individually. Each lesson will have group improvisations, where the children will be put in groups and asked to devise and then perform a short scene. Attending The Flip Flop Theatre Group can give children a real opportunity to gain confidence and ‘a voice’ to express themselves. In this type of theatre group there is learning, but more importantly, ‘participating’ in drama and acting. It’s also a great opportunity for the students to express themselves in both comedy and drama with the others in the group. END OF YEAR PERFORMANCE
From the end of term three onwards the class will consist of auditions, then rehearsals for the end of year play. The play will be held in the final class, at the end of term four. All parents and friends will be welcome to attend. TIMETABLES
The Theatre Group will occur at a fixed time each week. At this stage there is only one proposed class:
