The Shaws - 16.04.25

Wednesday afternoon saw Paxton and Jason share their vows in front of their closest friends and family. After 9 years together, an adorable pup dog, and a handsome little boy, Paxton decided it was about dam time.

And so in the most beautiful backyard setting, we shared stories, champagne and many laughs.

My first full year as a celebrant and I have been nominated as a finalist in the Wedding Industry Awards Australia for the Wide Bay and Burnett area!

With so many incredible celebrants in the area, this is a true honour. Finalists are capped at 20 businesses for each category and then the top few, as voted by recently married couples, are named in a few weeks.

Friends, I need you to put your thinking caps on..

I want to know what service or helpful hand you’d appreciate from a celebrant - it may be something you’ve experienced or witnessed at a wedding, something you felt should have been handled by a celebrant, or just something that could run smoother with an extra set of hands, particularly from someone with experience in weddings.

I want to ensure I am helping my couples in every way I physically can during the ceremony and the time that surrounds it. Things as simple and easy as directing guests for photos following the ceremony, providing instructions on how to throw confetti effectively… anything!

So help your girl out and hit me with your ideas!

Could not believe our eyes watching the sun come out on our way to Saturday’s wedding at Bargara.

As always, the couple had a backup wet weather location, but boy were we glad we could have the ceremony in this beautiful spot!

What are your thoughts on where a celebrant should stand?
- The traditional between you at the altar, over to the side beside your bridal party, or in the aisle so that you can face your guests?

I will often ask my couples where they’d like me to stand and more times than not they will stick to the traditional position as that is where they feel most comfortable.

Wherever I am positioned, I promise to ALWAYS be out of the way for your photo moments!
