A Family Business

Michael and Raelene took over the running of the Hotel McLaren the day after their Honeymoon finished March 1965 . Born McLaren Vale Hospital and moved into the hotel, their children, Mark, William & Ann-Marie worked from a young age. Stacking fridges, washing dishes, pruning and cutting fruit from the farm. The whole family was involved in the upkeep of the hotel, grandparents, parents, uncle and aunts, brothers, sister and cousins!

The Mclaren Vale Motel was built January 4th 1981, and took their first guest on 18th Aug 1981 (a family from Whyalla with a sick son in McLaren Vale Hospital looking for a room, they were able to put one together so they could stay #readyornot).

The Mclaren Vale Function Centre was opened in May 2016. The Mclaren Vale Motel was built as a place where everyone would like to stay. Clean, comfortable, and where the little things count, along with plenty of space. And that vision has now moved on to the Function Centre. With plenty of natural light, room to move, good food and built alongside the Motel, we hope to help benefit our local community by growing tourism and supporting local businesses. Which in return helps us keep on improving
