It was a VERY GOOD Friday last year when I first spoke with Lauren and Ian via a no-obligations video call.
As soon as Ian complimented my gamer headset, I knew that we were all going to have a great time together, and I was absolutely thrilled when they said "I do" to the following services:
- Celebrant 💍
- MC (until the end of the night) 🎤
- First dance lessons 💃🕺
- Finska tournament score keeper 🪵 (ok, not an actual "service" but I did this for fun during canapé hour).
It was such a pleasure getting to know these two through the celebrant process and the whole day was an absolute joy! It was so much fun keeping the dance floor going with amazing tunes from DJ Karla!

LOVE these two! 💖💖
We laughed, we cried, we played rock paper scissors, and most importantly, we got them married in front of their nearest and dearest!
It was lovely going back to my old stomping ground and officiating for two friends of mine from the swing dancing community!
And yes, there was plenty of dancing at the reception!

I always ask this for all ceremonies big and small!
Some real-life examples:
"Please don't wear black"
"Please avoid pink/purple/grey, also any loud prints/patterns. Wearing black or any other dark neutral colour would be great, thanks!"
"Anything that doesn't clash with our wedding colours: white, navy and burgundy"
"Bride in white, groomsmen are in blue suits. Bridesmaids are wearing sage green, brown, burnt red, light pink."
"Bride is wearing navy blue, groom is wearing grey. Please don't wear navy blue."
"Simple classy beach attire, no shoes, chino shorts, light coloured shirts. No preference, but I would say avoid dark colours because you're going to get really hot in the sun."
"We're wearing white and blush pink dresses, wedding party in eucalyptus green. Wear whatever makes you feel Fabulous!"

10 years and one month ago today, these two decided over a slurpee and a hot chocolate to make their relationship official.
One month ago, Julia and Yas celebrated 10 years together by getting married in front of their nearest and dearest.
What an absolute joy it was being part of this very special day! My goodness, I love my job!

Day 13: Meet one of my couples 💍💍
Bianca & Daniel met in the most romantic of all romantic locations: a CrossFit gym. 🏋️♀️🏋️
It really was love at first sight for these two and since meeting, they have kicked so many figurative and literal goals together. ⚽️💪
Their marriage is the start of a very exciting new chapter for these two and it was an absolute pleasure getting to be part of their very special day! 💕

Day 12: Florals 💐
When Bridge & Ash booked me to be their celebrant, they told me that the first vendor they booked after the venue was their floral artist

Day 11: Where I work.
"Showtime" can be anywhere really, but the majority of my work is done in this little corner (where I'm writing this now too!)
Emails, admin, script writing, video calls and choreography notes just to name a few things.
I really love my space by the window and that I can sit or stand whenever I like.

Day 9: Shoes 🥿👠👞👢👟👡
The last time I posted about shoes through I shared some delightful bridal shoes.
This time, I thought I’d share a collection of shoes that I have worn to ceremonies. Lots of black and tan to go with lots of things plus splashes of colour, sparkle, and casual footwear for good measure.
Part of my celebrant process is understanding the styling for your day in addition to colour palettes so that I can best compliment it with my attire.

I LOVE seeing all the creative ways people involve their fur babies in their wedding. From pre or post-ceremony cuddles, to ring bearers, to cardboard cutouts or images of them accompanying wedding favours: I am here for all of it!

Day 6: Elopement or small wedding 💍💍
When I think of small weddings, Dani and Tim come to mind.
Pictured here is their entire guest list (with yours truly standing off to the side basking in the glory of their little big day).
The incredibly cold and wet April evening did not dampen the warmth of the day and following the small ceremony, Dani and Tim walked to a local restaurant with their guests.
I am so here for you doing things your way!

Day 4: One of my favourite people…
Ash, my partner in life and in dance who embodies all of the characteristics of my favourite people. 💕
We can be silly and serious, experience joy in the little and large moments and sit with each other and big feelings when life gets tough.
This is one of my favourite photos from our wedding as it truly captures the love and joy of our partnership.

Day 3: sunrise or sunset?
¿Porqué no los dos?
There’s something truly special about a sunrise. This one was the sunrise light of the summer solstice illuminating the ancient Mnajdra temple in Malta (and a snippet of my shadow for good measure).
Malta also does pretty good sunsets too!

Day 2: What’s new for me in 2024…
I’ve started training with and while the vibe is obviously very different to weddings, remembrance, celebration of life and bespoke ceremony in the funeral and memorial space are so important and it’s an honour to be part of.

Probably the most unusual compliment I've received, but valid, just like the feelings I encourage everyone to feel during my opening housekeeping.
I love it when the couple and their guests truly feel their feelings during the ceremony and I always encourage it.
It doesn't just give them permission to cry their happy tears but to have a laugh as well!

My thoughts on budgets for weddings.
Budgeting isn’t about finding the cheapest supplier across every category. It’s about mindfully choosing what’s important to you for your big day.
For example, when I got married, paper invitations weren’t important to me. Rather than having a small budget for paper invitations, I didn’t have one at all.
Maybe having a 3-course sit-down dinner with an endless drinks tab is important to you, but perhaps you only invite 15 of your closest people.
Think about what’s important to you and lean in to what you love and completely cut things that don’t matter to you.
If the ceremony part of your day is something you consider important, then I am here for you.

Throwback to May the 4th (be with you)!
It was an absolute pleasure officiating and MC-ing for Ewan and Christina in front of their nearest and dearest!
They exchanged wedding rings AND wedding crowns because why not, and kept us all very well fed!
And of course, the ambiance and cocktail offerings of Naught Gin were absolutely sensational!

What an absolute joy it was to watch conduct his mock ceremony as part of the Certificate IV in Celebrancy course yesterday morning.
TLC in Bayswater were amazingly hospitable and encouraged the congregation of the just-completed church service to stick around and contribute to the 20-guest minimum attendance requirement.
I managed to get some sneaky pics of the proceedings from the front row. Jacob is an amazing public speaker and I know he’s going to be a brilliant celebrant one day! 👏🏼
