On 7.2.21 (my birthday) I married myself at home, in a small intimate self-marriage ceremony with a few close family members and friends present

Last week, on 7.2.24, my 3rd wedding anniversary, I renewed my marriage vows under the vast blue sky on Sunnymead Beach, Aireys Inlet

This is an extract from my renewal of vows:

"In solitude I reflect on the journey of the past three years – a wonderful journey of learning to love myself more, increasing acceptance of my quirks and flaws, gaining greater wisdom, more peace and internal happiness, and SO MUCH personal growth.

Today, I recommit to the promises I made to that person who I've learnt to love and who needs my love more than anyone. ME.

In the dance of the waves,
Where self-care begins
A self-love story spins
I embrace my solo life.

On sands of solitude, my heart takes flight
Embracing my own light
With each crash of a wave, a vow is made
And in the symphony of waves, my solo life is solidified

I, Robbie, stand here today, amidst the elements that connect me to the universe, in the presence of the ocean, renew my commitment to myself to inhabit my life fully and continue to embrace the self love journey I’m on.

Today I acknowledge how far I’ve come in my personal growth and I renew those promises I made to myself on my wedding day 3 years ago. 

Today I re-commit to:

✨ continue my daily practise of gratitude, self-kindness and self-forgiveness

✨ never forget that I’m enough, no matter what

✨ always be my own best friend, through good times and tough times

✨ continue to practise self-compassion, especially when it’s hard to do so, and to continue to nurture a positive relationship with myself

✨ continue to approach every day with a heart full of appreciation and gratitude for my good health, my children's health & wellbeing, my family, my home, my work and all of life’s experiences, both good and bad, as they have all helped teach me something about myself and others and helped shape the person I am today

So.... with this ring, an outward symbol of my commitment to myself, I promise to continue to honour myself and say "I do" once again and forever more ❤️

This is my source of joy, my bliss. Enjoying a cup of morning coffee with a slice of stollen (traditional German Christmas cake) on a sunny summer's day, feeling the cool gentle breeze in my garden - it truly is my sanctuary, my haven.

My long-awaited Christmas present has finally arrived. It is a book exclusively aimed at individuals who are single at heart, like myself. I am eagerly looking forward to diving into chapter 1! The author of this book is Bella DePaulo, one of the world's foremost thinkers and writers on the single experience

I wish all my followers a happy and peaceful Christmas and remember to find your moments of joy & bliss 🎄💕

Sometimes personal growth means outgrowing friendships. It’s a tough lesson that’s become painfully clear to me recently. After reconnecting with a friend of 30 years, it felt like we were picking up where we left off. We laughed about our crazy 20’s and reminisced about the good old days. However, the more we spoke, the more apparent it became that we were no longer on the same wavelength.
While I’ve been on a transformative journey over the past decade, he remains in a marriage of convenience, unhappy, but unwilling to confront the truths that need addressing and it became clear our values are very different.

It’s been a difficult realisation, and I’m grieving the loss of a friendship that was once important to me. However, I’ve come to understand that sometimes staying true to yourself means letting go of friendships that no longer serve you.
Personal growth often comes with tough choices and moments of solitude. It’s about aligning your values with your actions and surrounding yourself with people who share your values and uplift you.
Taking this action is an act of self-love.

The sheer joy of solo living can sometimes be summed up by enjoying a morning cuppa tea in my garden, my happy place. As I embrace the morning sun like a cozy hug, I relish the feeling that it's just me, Mr Bee and the cooing pigeons jamming to the sweet beat of nature's morning concert. Even the distant traffic plays the background music to my peace.

Later today I'll be sitting down to write a self-marriage ceremony for Ruby who's soon to marry herself. Her ceremony will take place at sunset on the beautiful Bellarine Peninsula in Victoria, Australia. Yep, you heard it right. Ruby is taking the plunge into self-care paradise, promising to be her own happiness guru. Here's to flying solo and spreading self-love like confetti!

In a nutshell, self-marriage seekers are people in search of deep introspection, to live in alignment with their values, honor themselves, and looking to affirm their relationship with themselves and express how being single doesn't mean feeling incomplete or lonely.

Thought I'd lost my special self-marriage ring last night, my heart sank. I'd taken it off while gardening earlier in the day and it had fallen off the shelf.
Relief and joy flooded in. Lesson learned: never underestimate the power of a little treasure hunt in finding what truly matters.

Since I placed it on my finger during my self-marriage ceremony two years ago, I often find myself twirling it on my little finger, a reminder of the promises I made to myself to be kind to me, to take care of myself, mentally, physically and spiritually, forever💍✨

In 2021 I entered into a self-marriage and became a sologamist. Last Tuesday 4/7/23 I was invited to speak on "Studio 10" morning program on Channel 10 about my personal journey. Relatively unknown in Australia, self-marriage, or sologamy as it's sometimes called, is rapidly growing in popularity in many countries.
As a marriage celebrant I now help others express a very powerful statement of self-love and self-acceptance.
Marriage is seen as a milestone reserved only for couples, but I want to challenge that notion because I believe that self-love is as important as romantic love.
It is in fact very important to have a healthy love of self and self-worth before entering into a marriage with another person. This is because when we practice self-love and are more compassionate to ourselves, it opens the door for us to be more accepting and loving toward others.
