Travelling solo empowers self-discovery. Last week I embarked on my first solo cycling adventure exploring the Great Victorian Rail Trail. While sologamy and solo travel aren't the same, they're closely connected in my experience.
I had an exciting time exploring some quaint Aussie towns and villages in country Victoria. Good ol' country hospitality, delicious pub meals and great coffee, not to mention spectacular scenery. Oh, and a dozen swooping magpies (I lost count after 10)!!
The Great Victorian Rail Trail is Australia's longest rail trail - 134km from Mansfield to Tallarook.

Many people have asked me "what is self-marriage?"
It's making your well-being your number one priority. It's building a strong foundation of self-love and acceptance.
It's making the ultimate commitment.
As Oscar Wilde once said "the greatest commitment you'll ever make is the one that you make to yourself"

In 2021 I entered into a self-marriage and became a sologamist. Last Tuesday 4/7/23 I was invited to speak on "Studio 10" morning program on Channel 10 about my personal journey. Relatively unknown in Australia, self-marriage, or sologamy as it's sometimes called, is rapidly growing in popularity in many countries.
As a marriage celebrant I now help others express a very powerful statement of self-love and self-acceptance.
Marriage is seen as a milestone reserved only for couples, but I want to challenge that notion because I believe that self-love is as important as romantic love.
It is in fact very important to have a healthy love of self and self-worth before entering into a marriage with another person. This is because when we practice self-love and are more compassionate to ourselves, it opens the door for us to be more accepting and loving toward others.

I'm thrilled to be part of the SBS Insight program "Alone" this Tuesday 6th June at 8.30pm or catch it later on SBS On Demand.
I'll be sharing my story of why I married myself and how it changed my life for the better. I'm passionate about showing others the empowering impact of a self-marriage ceremony.

The Daintree Rainforest in far north Queensland is a magnificent tropical rainforest with an unbelievably complex eco system.
I used to compare myself to others way more than was healthy. I admit I still do sometimes. We all do, but what is the point really because we're all on different journeys?
The more you stop comparing yourself to others and their achievements and feeling gratitude for what you have and how far you've come, the more you're practising self-love

This was one of my marriage vows to myself.
Having discovered how much fun cycling is last year during lockdown, it's now a part of my self care weekly routine. A good part of my Saturday this week was exploring my local bike path. Love the freedom, feels like flying
