t is a community where professionals can collaborate, cultivate and engage with their audiences. The program of events includes seminars, training, workshops, performances, forums, product launches, yoga, exhibition openings, networking and functions. This is an initiative of Strategic Artistry, which also provides a range of in-house services, programs and expertise. With a career producing events for government, councils and industries, the founder of Curate Events has designed a 360 service, allowing presenters to focus on what they do best ... on stage. With confidence that everything else is taken care of. Curate events produces your event, including marketing, crew and logistics. While we deliver events across Australia and New Zealand, we also have our own venue in the Melbourne CBD with accommodation on site for visiting presenters and performers. You’re the Presenter, Let us care for the Rest. After a long day of travel, you arrive at the lonely hotel room. After only a few hours sleep you rise early to get to the venue and set up for your event with limited support. And you’ve not even started the long day of presentation and facilitation! The Curate Events Team has personally experienced the challenges of business travel and the speaker circuit. This inspired the creation of Curate Space. On arrival, you are welcomed back to your Melbourne venue and accommodation by your LOCAL CREW. Rising Stage Ready you find the venue set up to your needs, with the preferred configuration and audio visual equipment ready for your presentation. Your crew are ready to welcome your guests with fresh coffee on arrival. Want to fill the room? If it’s a publicly ticketed event you can tap into the Curate Space networks and connections through our marketing and ticketing system. We also have meeting rooms and coworking space to support your business needs. Deliver more compelling events with Curate Space as your local team. Waiting for venue confirmation is always a pain. Now you can book spaces and event services instantly via the Curate Space App or website portal. So you can start promoting your programs straight away without delay. Many presenters on the speaker circuit have made Curate Space their Melbourne base when on tour. "Its my home away from home for all my Melbourne events, I feel comfortable in the space and on stage." Membership and Joint Venture options are available for those who are looking to have a regular base for their program of events and business meetings. Discuss your needs with our crew to explore the options best suited to you.

Food and green waste is collected from CURATE Space by bicycle courier and turned into compost for community gardens. We’ve been part of the Good Cycles Good Butler program for over four years now. We explain the system at every event we host, which raises awareness of the initiative and how venues and hospitality can be part of the solution to landfill problem. Our venue now averages only a kg of landfill each week, made possible in part through this initiative.

Last night at CURATE Space we hosted an engaging discussion on ‘Atlas of Human Rights - Violations and protections in Australia and abroad’. CEO of Human Rights Law Centre, Caitlin Reiger and CEO of Reichstein Foundation, Rachel Ball joined Folio Collective in unpacking the important topic.

Human rights are universal principles that apply to all people, regardless of their race, gender, religion, or any other characteristic. They are the foundation of a just and equitable society, ensuring that every individual is entitled to basic freedoms and protections.

Unfortunately, human rights violations are all too common in many parts of the world. From discrimination and inequality to censorship and repression, millions of people suffer every day from abuses of their basic rights. However, it is not just a problem that exists outside of Australia. Even within our borders, there are ongoing issues with systemic discrimination, the treatment of refugees and asylum seekers, and the protection of Indigenous rights.

Together, we will explore topics such as the role of international law in protecting human rights, the challenges of enforcing human rights in practice, the intersectionality of human rights issues, and the importance of community activism in promoting change. By coming together and engaging in thoughtful dialogue, we hope to increase awareness and understanding of human rights issues, and inspire action towards a more just and equitable society.

We are committed to delivering sustainable events, with systems designed to have a positive impact on the planet and to minimise waste. So much so that our venue only generates 1-2kg of landfill a week, which is mostly what guests have brough into the space! People exclaim “wow real cups!” when making a coffee, which should/could be the norm rather than the exception! Our coffees are made with freshly ground, organic, fair-trade beans and food waste is collected by bicycle courier to be turned into compost for community gardens. We continue to refine our system to deliver sustainable events.

Last night we hosted and produced a hybrid AGM and panel session for SENVIC, the Social Enterprise Network of Victoria. With participants both in our venue and online, everyone across the state had opportunity to be seen, heard and engaged. Removing barriers to participation is our purpose. Even though our physical facilities are based in the Melbourne CBD, it is from our founder’s own lived experience of living in a remote community (in an extinct volcano!) that this service was launched six years ago. “Having to travel to the city to participate or have a voice as a change maker is a barriers to participation. For over twenty years I’ve worked to make collaboration, engagement and learning more inclusive.” Says Chloe Beevers “so in curating the experience for SENVIC we are ‘on purpose’ and delighted to be of service to the changemakers and social entrepreneurs who are delivering impactful work across their communities.” Congratulations to SENVIC and team for your leadership in sector development, community development and systems change.

Our roadmap, aligned with the Victorian roadmap out of COVID-19 restrictions: While CURATE Space is unlikely to open for groups or public gatherings this year, it IS likely in coming weeks/months that WE WILL OPEN for fully vaccinated cast/presenters and crew for filming/live-streaming to online audiences. We are ready with staff vaccinated, trained in infection control, installed hygiene stations, HEPA air filters, and even an AI Marshal which automatically checks visitors for temperature and mask before allowing entry. The space has been optimised as a live streaming production studio and for video conferencing as core services. In the meantime, we support organisations to deliver authentic and engaging experiences online, be it workshops, training, meetings, AGMs, forums, web summits.
Both our opening and the roadmap are projections, subject to variation, pending how well we as a society mitigate these ongoing risks to public safety.
Vaccines will be mandatory for all authorised workers, teachers, childcare workers, parents of childcare workers, hospitality workers and hospitality patrons as Victoria moves to reopen schools and businesses, under the state government’s road map.

Congratulation Victoria for being resilient through lockdown #5! From 28/7 CURATE Space reopens for group bookings up to 10 people + unlimited online participants. We curate a covidsafe experience with our covid marshal certified in infection control.

The Victorian Government advises that:
- Public gatherings will be allowed with up to 10 people, however masks will continue to be mandatory.
- The density quotient of 1 person per 4 square metres applies in non-seated areas of the venue and COVID check-in marshals must be on site to ensure attendees check-in.

13/05/2021

Theatre curtains are being installed all around the room to manage sound, light and temperature. They will span wall to wall and floor to ceiling.
SOUND: The acoustic curtains block external noise coming in and absorb excess noise in the room when we have a rowdy crowd of excited participants. Even when the curtains are open for natural light, they will have the effect of acoustic panels in the room.
LIGHT: We have excellent natural light through the heritage listed art deco windows. However during some events and filming, lighting needs to be managed and the variable natural light blocked out. The curtains provide these options.
TEMPERATURE: We are wrapping the venue in a woolen blanket! The thick wool curtains will keep us cozy in winter and cool in summer - insulating to more sustainably maintain a comfortable temperature.
IMAGE: a stencil is being made of the curved wall behind the stage to ensure a perfect fit for the acoustic curtains, customising the shape of the track to the shape.
