Adding to my portfolio of skills- after years of speaking roles in various formats, I finally bit the bullet and had a professional voice-over demo made.

Thanks to my wonderful mentor Abbe Holmes, and superstar Matty from Sonic Playground Studio for your guidance and support.

I’m very proud to be celebrating with The Celebrants Network Inc next weekend. It’s been such an honour and privilege to conduct some truly beautiful and memorable unions, renewals, namings and memorials over the last 15 years. Thank you to all those wonderful people who have put their trust in me, and referred me to their friends and family. ❤️

Today, 50 years ago, the first Civil Celebrant in Australia was appointed. What a positive move that has transformed the landscape of weddings, funerals and milestone ceremonies across the country.
This is a significant milestone in Australian history and The Celebrants Network will be celebrating this unique and cherished profession on Saturday 29th July, 2023.

Each year, I donate a ceremony to a local fundraising event or charity. This year, I donated to a charity very close to my heart - the inaugural Brainy Ball - where it was purchased by a beautiful couple who I have the pleasure of marrying in October. If you’re interested in supporting the Foundation, their major fundraiser, Connor’s Run will be held on Sunday 10th September. You can support or join our team, from the Connor’s Run website. I’ll put the link in the comments. ❤️🧠💙

NICKY & ROB - One from the archives - snuck in just before the first lockdown! 06.03.2020.

This was a spectacular, wholesome and intimate backyard wedding. Not only was Nicky walked down the aisle by her son James with her youngest Ella as flowergirl, but the music was like nothing I'd heard before. Rob and their daughter and maid of honour Imi, joined Rob's brother and friends to play Nicky's favourite song 'All You Need is Love' on the brass!

It's such an honour being asked to marry my friends and neighbours, and experience the joys of their special days. ❤️

GEMMA & JAMES – 5 November, 2022 at The Borough Department Store in Korumburra. It’s been years since I’ve cried at a wedding, but my connection to Gemma is a very special one and all my usual tricks didn’t work! A glorious wedding for an exceptional couple of humans. It was truly an honour to be their celebrant, and wonderful to finally work with wedding photographer extraordinaire Kyra Boyer.

KOBI & MADE - 8th January, 2022 at Mornington Botanical Rose Gardens. An intimate affair with only their young son Ayden, Kobi’s parents, and their bridal party. Small and intimate, yet exquisite. Don’t be fooled into thinking you need a large wedding to make it special.

Linke and Brandon 24.03.2022. Gardens House, Royal Botanic Gardens. There’s something very special about celebrating the union of lovely friends and neighbours, particularly when they have little people who are as much a part of the ceremony as the couple.

I’ve been sharing lists like this one with my couples for years. If I didn’t know better, I’d think this was copied from a list of mine, particularly the last point.

Some good advice here.

There are many common mistakes weddings make. Take this advice and avoid frustration on your big day.

One of the things I love most about being a Celebrant, is the opportunity to conduct ceremonies for my family and friends. It is an honour and privilege to be asked to play this important role.

This wedding was of my cousin Dan and his wife Susanne at Stones of the Yarra Valley, and it was perfect in every way. I may have shed a few tears that day…

So lovely to get back into performing wedding ceremonies again. Here’s to a year of beautiful weddings in 2021! 🤞🏼

I've met many photographers in my time as a celebrant, but I've not met one who outshines this lady. Kyra Boyer Photography is exquisite in the way she captures her couples' special day. And the best bit - she's not your traditional wedding photographer, and she manages to capture all the bits you didn't even know you wanted captured.

Oh, and one other thing ~ she's the sister to some dear friends of mine, so that makes her super special!

Oh how we adore the photography talents of Kyra Boyer Photography. Love filled and story-driven, Kyra captures all the memorable moments and offers a unique and honest perspective of a wedding day. She's energetic and offbeat, genuine and oh-so-much fun - hit the link and book her talents stat!⠀ http://bit.ly/2MgurTZ

A few years' back, I started including a list of items my fee covers in a wedding. Mostly to save the couple the awkward questions about what my fee was covering.

When tyre-kickers call, and the FIRST question is 'how much does it cost?', I know that I'm not the celebrant for them.

Please remember, regardless of who you choose, as a small business person, we have to cover all of those costs with our fees, AND make enough to make a living.

Below is an interesting article regarding celebrant fees, from the association I am a member of.

A professional civil celebrant charges fees for a wedding that reflect the work and time put in to creating, preparing for and delivering the ceremony as well as completing the legal requirements.

The ceremony is perhaps the most important part of your wedding day. Your ceremony should be as individual as you are, but what do you actually include in a marriage ceremony?

A marriage ceremony has some important legal requirements but these take little time. Most of the ceremony comprises the optional components such as readings, music and of course the first kiss as a married couple.

Why do a couple who have lived together for a long time get married? Why is a marriage ceremony so important?

The wedding ceremony is the most important and precious part of the wedding day. The ceremony sets the tone for the rest of the day and creates memories for family and friends.

Why your marriage certificate is so important, and not 'just a piece of paper'.

Marriage is not just a "piece of paper". It is a serious legal, social, economic and emotional commitment which is why you have to give Notice that you intend to marry and must have at least a month to think about it.
