And now, for something a little different
A while ago, I was talking to my good friend .am.nickg
About the breathwork sessions that he facilitates, and I floated the idea of DJing at one of them. As it turned out, Nick was one step ahead of me and had already come up with the idea! Combining the worlds of breathwork and electronic dance music, essentially guided meditation through controlled breathing and a DJ. Something you really don't see every day.
Now, normally, when you think of meditation, you assume the music accompanying it is slow, ambient, chill, has minimal dancefloor beats, and the last thing you'd expect to see at a meditation session is a DJ playing dance music, but Nick's vision for the breathwork sessions is different. He sought to use dance music to guide participants through their session. Chill, easy-going sections here, moments of intensity there, slow breathing here, fast breathing there. All driven by Nick's guidance and the DJs track selection/mixing.
So here it is, the recording from the most recent session of Holotropic Breathwork at
In Richmond. This has probably been one of my favourite sets of the year and I'm super happy with how it turned out and how it was received on the day, as most, if not all, people attending said that a. They enjoyed the music and b. More importantly, they felt it was complimentary to their breathwork experience.
If you ever get the chance to attend one of these sessions, I can't recommend it enough (having actually attended one prior to the one I DJ'd). This is a very unique experience, run by an incredible individual. Big shout outs to Half Moon Temple in Richmond as well, for giving Nick the space for these sessions.
To my dear friend Nick, thank you so much for the opportunity to be part of this. I cant wait to see how this grows and where you take it ❤️❤️
Tl;dr- new music 🎶 from a breathwork session, instead of the dancfloor
