Bonjour!!! Officially welcoming our new Head Chef, Alex Fournier. Although Alex has been with Cookes Food & Events since earlier this year, we’re so pleased to announce Alex’s promotion to Head Chef, working along side James Vardis, our longstanding Executive Chef.

With over a decade of culinary experience, Alex has established himself as a prominent figure in the Australian food scene. Alex’s journey reflects his dedication and talent. Before joining Cookes, he spent three years at Blakes Feast Catering/Blakeaway, where he also rose to the position of Head Chef.

His tenure at Donovan’s in St Kilda, a one-Hat establishment, saw him quickly advance from Sous Chef to Head Chef after joining in 2019. Alex’s strong leadership skills shine through in his management of the main kitchen, overseeing stock control, food costs, and creating innovative menus for both intimate gatherings and large events.

Before moving to Australia, Alex spent two and a half years at La Cloche in Ascot, UK, where he gained a reputation for his creativity and excellence. He completed his culinary training with BTEC Certificate III and BTEC Certificate IV (Honours) at the prestigious Lycée d’Hôtellerie Alexandre Dumas from 2007 to 2012 and went on to study at CREA in Paris (Bruno Goussault & Joël Robuchon) where he mastered Sous-Vide.

He is passionate about using fresh, seasonal ingredients and is committed to delivering exceptional dining experiences that impress guests and elevate any occasion.

THE DESIGN FILES AWARDS We have had the pleasure of working with @thedesignfiles over many years and what a moment it was to witness TDF Awards Ceremony @fed.square on Thursday night. Lucy continues to advocate for the design community with an inquisitive passion that’s quite frankly inspiring! We were proud to support this event with classic dishes like niciose sticks and short rib croquettes and pickle mayo... they ate THE LOT ... and that is all we can hope for 💥 Sick video by @_sirap_

At the heart of Cookes Food is Sophie Storen (née Cookes), who co-founded the company a decade ago. In our boutique Melbourne kitchen space, Sophie creates one-off menus that bring together the worlds of events and gastronomy.

Cookes Food has no packages. Our services are entirely bespoke. We go beyond the realm of catering and capture the vision of each client: Their tastes and their aesthetic. We obsess over the little details that take an event from good to unforgettable.
