NAIDOC Week celebrations are held across Australia from the first Sunday in July. This week is dedicated to celebrating and commemorating the history, culture, and achievements of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

Town Hall Broadmeadows was privileged to host the National Emergency Medal Award presentations across two evenings of ceremonies. 🚒
This award is a formal recognition of CFA members' work, commitment and contribution to the community during the 2019-2020 bushfire crisis. 🔥

We were thrilled to host Hume City Council's first Mental Health Expo for World Mental Health Day on October 10th! 💛

In partnership with The Sebastian Foundation, the event raised awareness regarding mental health for young students and provided valuable resources and support to help reduce the social stigma behind it. ☀️

We're still buzzing from our International Women's Day last week! Our Hume community, staff and guests came together to acknowledge and celebrate women's achievements. 💜

Guests enjoyed a morning tea, heard from guest speakers and enjoyed music from Perolas 🎺

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children under 6 were welcomed to Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung Country by a local elder as part of a special 'Welcome Baby to Country' ceremony. ⭐

The ceremony is an acknowledgement of the local Boorais connection to the traditional lands of the Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung and Gunung-Willam-Balluk clan and provides an opportunity to come together as a community to celebrate living culture and a child’s sense of identity and belonging. 😊
