Our latest collection Peach Jam is launching SEP 28th and available to try on at our Brunswick studio from that date.
This beautiful 8 piece collection was months and months of continued work and long hours. For the first time in my career, I wasn't sure I was going to meet the deadline.
Finally, on Sunday 11th August at 11am, I completed the last of the gowns and booked a DHL pick up to send the collection to Paris.
When I arrived in Paris to meet the gowns, I quickly found out they were stuck in french import customs and the next few days were utter stress and panic trying to get them released in time for the campaign shoot.
With help from the kind receptionist at (many translated phone calls) my gowns were finally released just in time for this campaign shoot.
There was something about the stress from the lead up that made this shoot so brilliant. Everything on that day simply worked in unison.

It's strange to think that over 11 years ago I was starting my business journey, working out of my mums living room.
I thought that $3k I had was a great amount to start a business. Logical, because what did I even need, I already owned a sewing machine and the use of my mums living room table 🤙
I made the world's worst website when I started. I didn't know how to make one and I didn't want to pay, so you can imagine.
I went in so blind that sometimes I look back a think what a blessing that was.
Imagine having the freedom to put your ideas and creations out into the world and not a single person cares because they have never heard of you. It was strangely liberating, being that invisible.
I remember walking out of my tax appointment after my second year in business. Over a 2 year period, I made a grand total of $18k. I worked 7 days a week for 2 years and I made that much.
I was so gutted ( also I probably should have known, but at this point I didn't even know what xero was)
This 11 year business has been a slow grind.
I've kept my head down and I've worked hard.
Slowly, without me noticing, it's evolved.
I have a killer team. Honestly, the best

This was the wildest turnaround time we have ever experienced! We had 48 hours to make this gown with no fittings ( which resulted in a last minute flight to the Gold Coast to alter it with nothing but a needle and thread )
At one stage, myself and two of my team .henly + were all working on it at once. A team effort in getting this over the finish line.

The process of creating a new collection can be long-winded to say the least. Ideas are formed, gowns are started and then pulled apart and started again multiple times until I'm happy.
I have to take so much more into consideration the bigger this business gets.
It's one thing to make a one off gown, but it's a whole other thing to think about all the factors that could pull a collection down.
Things like pattern grading, fabric waste, proportion to suit multiple shapes, ease of construction.. the list goes on.
The amount of times I have created new gowns only to realise afterwards that it was :
A) too complex to construct and wouldn't be viable
B) grading works well from size 6-12 but anything above wouldn't work because of XYZ
C) cost would be too high for a collection gown
D) fabric will become an issue, pull the pin now
Anyway, it's a process.
An exhausting long process.
Long story short I'm in the thick of creating new designs at the moment.
Between the sketching, draping, pattern making and construction.. I am getting there.
This is the first year I've had the time to not rush this process, so I'm excited to see what I create
