This is me!

With the launch of my brand spanking new website last month, it was also time to refresh some images of yours truly!

Whilst I may not exactly ‘look’ like a celebrant ready to marry someone here , this image by the amazing really captures the essence of exactly who I am. Happy, smiley, relaxed, fun loving.

This is the kinda celebrant you can expect when you work together with me!

Having notched up 11 years of experience in the celebrant world last week, I’m proud to say my heart still races before every wedding - so excited for what’s about to unfold.

10 YEARS TODAY!!

What started as a way to get back into the workforce and be my own boss, having been a stay-at-home Mum for so many years, sees me celebrate a milestone today that I’m incredibly proud of. Ten years ago came that all important and long awaited letter that allowed me to begin this incredible celebrant ride!

A decade of meeting and marrying amazing, loved-up, beautiful couples, and befriending so many wonderful wedding suppliers and vendors along the way - many of whom have become good friends. Ten years of creating and crafting ceremonies that I hope have stayed with my couples long after their wedding day finished - perhaps not the words so much, but the way I made them feel.

It’s also been a decade that has seen me support and guide hundreds of grieving families, and explore my own capabilities, strengths, and limitations - none of which I could’ve done without the belief, support, wise words and encouragement of those closest to me.

Never in my wildest dreams, could I ever have imagined, that the celebrant path I set out on would’ve filled me with so much joy and gratitude for the job and for the incredible people it’s allowed me to meet and help, all the while teaching me so much about life and love.

Kate and Chris

For the beginning of their story, we have to go back a few years and cross Bass Strait to Hobart on Australia Day of 2018, where a chance meeting of the two occurred at a party between Futsal teammates!

Kate said she was instantly drawn to Chris, and they literally spoke the whole night, ignoring pretty much everyone else there! They quickly worked out they were both from Melbourne and shared many of the same interests and sense of humour. It was only after a few dates Kate told her family that Chris was the nicest and best guy she’d ever met!

With a shared love of the outdoors, adventure, and travel, they love to explore and stay active either by hiking, or running, they’ve climbed the Sydney Harbour Bridge at sunset, and their trip to Japan was incredible with plenty of wonderful memories made. They love trying new restaurants and also enjoy cooking together, and often try new recipes on the weekend - and depending who you ask, Chris is the Head Chef and Kate his sous chef - but those titles are most definitely up for debate!

It was such a joy to see these two beautiful souls married a few weeks ago, and help make their wedding day dream a wonderful reality!

WHAT DO YOU LOVE?

What is something that you love and could do everyday?

For me, I found this when I started my business. I absolutely love my job and love all the beautiful people I’ve been able to meet along the way. Making people’s dreams come true is so much fun and such an honour.
I never forget that.

Michelle is by far the best celebrant I have ever met. I am so grateful that Michelle was a part of my wedding day. After searching for what felt like months for the perfect celebrant, I finally found Michelle. From the first time we met, I knew she was the celebrant for us. She is so genuinely kind, thoughtful, knowledgeable and down to earth. All I had wanted for our ceremony was a relaxed and fun vibe, and that is exactly what we got. I cannot believe the amount of work Michelle put in to making our ceremony perfect for us. Many of our guests mentioned that it was like Michelle had known us for years and that it was the most engaging and best ceremony they had ever been to. Michelle is utterly incredible and I am so grateful for everything that she did for us.

F A M I L Y

School hols use to drive me a bit batty in the early years - and come those final few days I was itching’ for my own space again and send my cherubs back to their teachers! But a few years ago, I realised if I didn’t start embracing those two week breaks and take them off, those weeks would flow into months, and in a flash we’d be at the end of another year, another Christmas, and my babies, another year older [and taller!]

What started with bringing them along on roads trips to country weddings, lead to a couple of overseas trips *how blessed we were*, and exploring and experiencing our own beautiful state.
But I’m [so] aware, that their interests are changing, and they want their own space to do their own thing. It seriously takes my breath away how quickly they’re growing up and makes me quite emotional.

Adolescence in 2021 is a far cry from what it meant in the 90s - it’s *so* different. I can’t change that. All I can do is continue to be there for them the best I can, and up my game when it comes to planning that next school holiday road trip or family vacay - one that tries to connect them to the outside world and away from the pull of teen technology and any social issues they’re facing. One that connects them back to nature - the simplicity of a sky full of stars, a campfire, a walk on the shoreline, beautiful sunsets. It doesn’t really matter of course what we do. Just that we’re together.

Someone once told me we only get 18 Summers with our children. [A sobering thought.]
I’m determined to use mine wisely.
