Last week we had the honour of creating these tribute flowers for a very loved regular customer of ours. Our inspiration was an English cottage garden with pink roses and blue cornflower.

Tom, you will be missed. We will always remember you sitting in our comfy green chair, chuckling away and chatting while you ordered flowers for your loved ones. You always made us smile. We hope you enjoyed seeing the shop grow over the last year and continue to watch us from above.

PEONIES

Also known as a Peony Rose but did you know that Peonies aren’t actually related to Roses?

Peonies (Paeonia) is the only genus of Paeoniaceae. Whereas Rose (Rosa) is one of around 90 genus in the family Rosaceae. There are over 300 species of Rose.

Another thing that makes Peonies so unique. Don’t miss out! They won’t be around for long.

What’s so special about Peonies? The Peony has a relatively short bloom season. In Australia this season is mid October to the end of November. This means Australian Peonies are only available during this time. “But we’ve seen them around now” I hear you say - yes, that’s true, you can purchase Peonies in supermarkets and some florists right now, but these are IMPORTED from Europe. Which is why we don’t have them. Purchasing imported flowers hugely increases your carbon footprint, something which we are very passionate about reducing here at Rhoda Floral Design and I Heart Flowers.
