Let's talk about CAKE, baby π€
To have a wedding cake, or not? This is a really common question from couples. Wedding cakes can be a beautiful addition to your menu, either as a stand alone dessert, or as an acommpanyment to your exisiting dessert menu. Personally, I am a huge cake fan! See why below..
π° Cakes can make a beautiful feature at the reception. Commonly displayed on or near the dancefloor, often adorned with florals to match your bouquets & arrangements, they act as both something yummy and something visually stunning. Cutting the cake can also make a fabulous photo opp with your new beau.
π° Cake can replace traditional dessert & save you some cash.
Removing dessert as a course and serving your wedding cake in its place can be a way to save money (this obviously depends on the type of cake you select). Don't forget to factor in any cakeage charges from your venue/caterer. Be sure to check you're happy with how the cake will be plated or served. Multiple tiers can also give you the option of catering to dietaries.
π° Got alot of guests to cater for? No worries! Select a smaller cake for display, photos and formal cutting and have a larger sheet cake in the same flavours/design for your venue to cut and serve. Sheet cakes are a cheaper alternative that's great for catering for large numbers.
π° Always do a tasting. Most cake makers offer tastings for a small price, which is always worth it in my opinion - I mean, you get to eat cake AND feel productive! Sometimes it can be overwhelming selecting flavours from a list, however a taste test will give you the confidence you and your guests will love the cake you have chosen.
π° Large, multiple-tiered wedding cakes don't have to break the bank.
Many cake makers will be willing to create a cake of your dreams to suit your budget, by swapping out either one or multiple tiers with foam replacements, still providing height and wow-factor, decorated to blend perfectly.
