A magical thing happened on the banks of Waranga Basin on Monday 30.10.23. R & D eloped, sharing their heartfelt promises and commitment, they married just as the sun came out from behind cloudy skies. pics snapped by Steve.

Day 29! Why I became a Celebrant

I became a celebrant because I wanted to create sacred, funny, poignant and memorable moments that every couple deserves on their wedding day. Whether it is for the two of them or in front of a small group of friends or family or the gathering of all gatherings.

After leaving a busy academic life educating midwives and nurses, I wanted to continue my passion of making a difference in people's lives. The role of a celebrant seemed to fit both my practical and creative sides, as well as being an absolute honour and privilege to be involved in a couples special day.

I really like getting to know your love story and what marriage, commitment and partnership means to you. I like getting to know you and how you want your ceremony to be.
I love helping you solve those niggling issues; can I walk down the aisle alone, I want to do a ritual but will it be too naff! How do I get my guests involved, I want it to be serious, but lighthearted, relaxed with some traditional modern elements. I want it to feel like us. To name a few.

I had a blast so far on this celebrancy journey, I always learn something new from every couple, I have seen some amazing venues, met beautiful vendors and I look forward to the next wedding season.
Hope to see you along the way too.

Day 28. The Celebrant Society!

Being a part of the celebrant society is important to my personal and business growth. Having access to great people with an abundance of experience and advice has helped in many situations.
Looking forward to making more connections at the Bali retreat this July!

This challenge alone has shown me how it’s possible to create everyday content. Having the template has kept me motivated and I’m looking forward to further planning and growing my Social Media Accounts!

Day 26! Summer or Winter…

December 2018
Cassidy and Bradley got married. It was a beautiful day and the ceremony started in sunshine until it did not. It absolutely bucketed down and everyone was getting very wet. No chance of umbrellas or sticking it out.
Luckily they had a plan B for such an event. Held at Avalon Castle where it is possible to have outdoors or indoors if it is too hot or too cold and wet.
We ran into the chapel, the beautiful owners towelled us all off and we completed the ceremony in comfort and being Melbourne the sun came out again and they had stunning photos done in the garden.

Tip: Always have a plan B with plenty of water and umbrellas for the hottest days, or umbrellas, marque or a venue that is happy to make it happen indoors if everything goes pear shaped.

Day 25! My Passion

My passions, not so secret, are crime drama, very dark black humour and trivia (although I know obscure stuff, my general knowledge is average).

So give me White Lotus, Vera, Clean Sweep, Luther and Lucifer and I am riveted.

Day 23 Celebrants I admire

This is hard, for the honest reason that every celebrant has their own style. Since I started in celebrancy 6 years ago I have been lucky enough to have encountered many who have been very generous with their knowledge, their humour, and their hacks. They know who they are.

Of course there are some who are inspirational to the profession and I thank them for their ability to educate, inform and inspire me to be the best I can be.

I believe that the best celebrants are the ones that learn from their couples, to see that every ceremony has the right to be beautiful, meaningful and heartfelt and as unique as the couples we work for.

I have chosen this shot of Nathan and Jess who eloped in the historic gardens at Woolrich Retreat because it captures the look, the success of the ceremony , it is unquantifiable, simply a feeling.

So I thank my celebrant colleagues for collectively inspiring me to do this work that I am so passionate about and I thank Nathan and Jess, for their glow and trusting me with their important moment.

Day 22 3 words to Describe me!

Intuitive, Compassionate, Creative.

I love this pic of me, I would love to be able to fly!! I have always had dreams about being able to fly, soaring above the trees and gliding just above grass level. These wings would be amazing!!

Day 21… it’s a No from me!

I am up for a wedding in a hot air balloon, dressing according to theme (not too keen to dress as Elvis!), train, boat not a tinny!, helicopter but it will be a NO if you ask me to scuba dive.

And if it's your heart's desire, yes there are celebrants out there who will do this for you. Try The Celebrant Society as a starting point. Have a look at amazing scuba story and pics on their instagram site.

Thank you to Anna & Andy for kindly letting me use their work for my post x

A nice review from Tegan and James!

„I want to say a massive THANK YOU for being our celebrant. You were incredible. We had everyone say how funny you were and how you told our story so well. Tegan and James“
