The Twyford The Twyford is a community and professional performing arts venue in Merimbula NSW Australia.

THE TWYFORD is a performing arts, visual arts & community venue in the centre of Merimbula NSW, with a Hall built in 1931 and a Theatre built in 2024, managed by arts charity The Twyford Hall Complex Ltd. It is managed by The Twyford Hall Complex Ltd, a registered arts charity and not-for-profit company-limited-by-guarantee, under an agreement with Bega Valley Shire Council, who is the trustee, o

n behalf of the community of Merimbula. It consists of a heritage-listed Hall (capacity 170) built in 1931, supper room and commercial kitchen for hire. A new 199 raked seat Theatre (capacity 199) and lift-accessible foyer with cafe/bar, 2 dressing rooms, control room and loading dock will be opening in 2023. The Twyford hosts music, dance, theatre, exhibitions, meetings, workshops, launches, conferences and more.

Happy Birthday to our Board Chair, Frankie J!

Happy Birthday today to singer, actor and tv personality Frankie J. Holden, who was born Peter Brian on this day in 1952 (December 18)

F.J. Holden was an Aussie favourite….

A former chartered accountant, in the 1970s he fronted Oz rock 50s revival band Ol' 55, which had the #3 LP “Take it Greasy”, and hit singles like “On the Prowl” and “Looking for an Echo”.

As an actor he appeared on tv shows like “Prisoner”, “Round the Twist”, “The Flying Doctors”, “A Country Practice”, “Underbelly”, and “A Place to Call Home” among others.

Reflecting on his career, Frankie J.Holden said, “My career [has been] quite diverse.
I’ve been game enough to say, ‘Host a travel show? Yep, I’ll do that. Host a Tonight Show? I’ll have a crack. Heavy drama? Yep. Light comedy? No problem. Popular stuff? I’ll do that, too.’
I’m a versatile performer……..I look back on my career, which has all been an accident, and it’s amazing it has lasted this long.”
