Kooroomba has been created as a unique tourist destination, nestled in the Fassifern Valley at Mt Alford near Boonah, about 65 minutes from Brisbane and 1hr 45minutes from the Gold Coast.The property consists of a cellar door, restaurant and lavender shop which overlooks a six hectare vineyard and a breathtaking lavender field, with magnificent views of the Scenic Rim mountains. Kooroomba Vineyard

and Lavender Farm provides a southern France experience on the doorstep of Brisbane and is the perfect setting for a relaxing day away.Principals Bob and Marlene Carroll have invested $3 million into the development, which is seven years in the making. The award winning cellar door/restaurant complex is of a 5 star level and is a blend of rustic and contemporary architecture. The wine marketed from the cellar door is from grape grown on the property, which along with the Modern Australian cuisine served in the restaurant from local produce provides a unique regional wine and food experience. Kooroomba has a large variety of wines including Chardonnay, Verdelho Marsanne, Shiraz, Cabernet and Merlot. The unusual Verdelho Marsanne blend has been served in Paris
and received high praise from the French people who tasted it. The lavender fields have a number of varieties of lavender
– English, French, Italian, New Zealand and Australian designed to provide flower most of the year.

About the role

Kooroomba Vineyard and Lavender Farm is seeking an experienced and talented Head Chef to join our team. This is a full-time, permanent role based in Mt Alford, Queensland. As Head Chef, you will be responsible for overseeing all culinary operations and ensuring the delivery of an exceptional dining experience for our guests.

About the job role:
Develop and implement creative and innovative menus that showcase seasonal, locally-sourced produce
Manage and lead a team of talented chefs and kitchen staff, providing guidance, training and mentorship
Ensure the highest standards of food quality, presentation and timely service
Oversee food ordering, inventory management and cost control to maximize profitability
Collaborate with the hotel management team to align the culinary offering with the overall brand and guest experience
Maintain a safe, hygienic and well-organised kitchen environment in compliance with all relevant regulations

What we're looking for:
Suits an experienced Head Chef or Sous Chef looking for a set up
Formal culinary training and qualifications, such as a Certificate III in Commercial Cookery
Demonstrated expertise in managing a kitchen team and leading by example
Strong knowledge of food safety, hygiene and workplace health and safety regulations
Exceptional creativity and flair for developing innovative, flavorsome menus
Excellent time management, problem-solving and organizational skills

They do hire our venue exclusively, so we are closed to the public on the dates below.

Spring certainly is a popular time of year for visitors and new leaves/flowers in the garden!!!
This time of year we are lucky enough to have the lavender in full bloom AND new shoots on our crepe myrtle tunnel AND vineyard AND grevilleas showing us their best pink creations.

We have some very happy little bees in our lavender fields! The lavender is loving the cooler weather and is at its happiest June, July and August. For all restaurant bookings head to our website and be sure to book four to six weeks in advance for a Sunday, otherwise Wednesdays are the day to head out if you’re wanting to dine in sooner 💕
