TramFest gig lands band’s lead singer his dream job

Nambour’s future Edwardian steam-punk styled tram may not have wheels yet, but it’s already making a difference in the community through Tramfest Nambour, a local event series run by The Nambour Tramway Company (TNTCo).

The free live music and food truck event, designed to give back to Nambour and hinterland residents, has not only been a success in raising funds for the tram project but also in creating opportunities for local talent.

In a heartwarming twist, TramFest recently helped Jack Smith, lead singer of local band Lazy Guns, land a full-time job with ASV Audio Visual. After performing at several TramFest events, Jack made a lasting impression on ASV's Rod Fishwick, who later offered him a job in the company.

TNTCo Chairman Greg Rogerson shared his excitement, saying, “This is what community events like TramFest are all about – not only supporting the tram project but also creating opportunities for locals like Jack.”

Rod and Andie Fishwick, long-time supporters of TramFest, praised Jack’s character and talent, making the decision to offer him the job an easy one.

TNTCo Chairman Greg Rogerson sees this as an example of how TramFest is about more than just building a tram. “TramFest is about creating community connections and giving back. Seeing Jack find a job through the event is exactly the kind of positive outcome we hope for,” he said.

Mr Rogerson said local businesses like ASV Audio Visual, along with others such as Clayton’s Towing, Alan Marr Electrical, and Your Mates Brewhouse, had been crucial in making TramFest a success. "Their continued support has allowed the event to thrive and create these kinds of opportunities for the people of Nambour. The moral of the story is that throughout life, individuals who have an innate gift of good character, giving and caring for others, will always be noticed, and life in general will always find a way to recompense such individuals."

TramFest is run as a free live music and food truck event, catering primarily for the Nambour and Hinterland residents, and is viewed by the TNTCo Board of Directors as giving back to the community that has supported them, over the long and sometime arduous 13 years of project progression.

Tramfest November 30
• The next TramFest event will take place on 30th November from 4-9pm at Mill Street, Nambour, where the community can once again come together for live music, food, and fun.

ASV Sponsors TurtleCare Sunshine coast.

ASV were approached by the Sunshine coast council’s TurtleCare team after using our Speech system at Sunshine Coast Grammar School in one of the classrooms. After noticing the students increased focus, they just had to have one!

After hearing about the TurtleCare program and the wonderful work the team do we decided to Gift them a system to assist their school visits.

TurtleCare Sunshine Coast coordinates approximately 194 community volunteers who spend early mornings and evenings identifying and protecting marine turtle nests from Bribie Island to the Maroochy River.
TurtleCare organises the annual ‘Clean Up for the Hatchlings’ event to commemorate the start of hatchling emergences, and to highlight the impacts of marine debris on hatchling and post- hatchling turtles in the Pacific Ocean.

ASV at the 2020 Mooloolaba Triathlon. Grateful to have been able to complete this one successfully with our event partners. The early morning coffee lineup in the ASV tent was as busy as ever and the crews did a great job with some challenging weather and conditions. Plenty of hand sanitiser and elbow bumps along the way.
