Well, in 2015, at Autonomy Day at Newcastle University, Georgia made one of those tiny decisions. She decided that she did not want to wait in the very long drinks line - so instead, she pushed in

And that my friends, is how a love story began, the story of Georgia and Lachlan.

Avalon & Ben / 17th May 2024

Sometimes, things just click. It was a classic case of ‘when you know you know’. But let’s be clear, despite the ‘knowing’, there’s still an expectation of clarifying if things are ‘official’.

So when Ben invited Avalon to his parent’s house for his birthday dinner she raised this with him. It was then it became official. Ben and Avalon were boyfriend and girlfriend. Things moved pretty quickly after that.

The ring exchange. So simple, yet apparently so difficult.
Often, the wrong hand or finger gets the ring. TBH it’s actually more difficult than it looks to put a ring on another person.
Always makes for a bit of a laugh (as shown in image 2).

Bronnie & Karl / 23rd March 2024

After meeting when they were still teenagers, 10 years on, Bronnie and Karl still have this flirtatious love that makes everyone smile.

“The next few times of seeing each other involved Karl picking Bronnie up from school of an afternoon in his commy and they’d drive around listening to 50 Cent. One weekend, at a friend’s party Bronnie was sitting on Karl’s lap, and he asked, “So do you wanna be my girlfriend?”

To which Bronnie responded, “Yeah, but I need to go to the bathroom”. She then proceeded to head inside pulling all her girls into a room and screamed, “OMG he just asked me to be his girlfriend””

“So let me take you back to where it all began, in 2013 at St Francis Xavier. Matt thought Tash was confident and outgoing. He was drawn to the happy energy she exuded. But Matt saw himself as a bit of a nerdy gamer boy and thought Tash was way cooler than him.

Although, Tash thought Matt was very funny and caring. He gave her a feeling of calm and safety, and wanted to spend more time with him.”

“If anyone asked, “So are you two boyfriend and girlfriend?”, a clear response was never received. Apparently, everyone knew Sophie and Eoin were together except for Sophie and Eoin.

On 12th September 2015, their friend Smarty was sick of it. Smarty took Eoin’s phone, went into his Facebook and changed some profile settings.

Back then there was one simple rule: it’s not official until it’s Facebook official.”

Kelly & Sam / 20th January 2024

I kicked off the 2024 year marrying these two amazing people. Friends and family came from the other side of the world to celebrate, and we had a fabulous time.

“It all started in 2017, when Kelly packed her bags, farewelled her friends in Canada and made her way to Melbourne, Australia. She wasn’t too sure what to expect but was just keen for some good-fun adventure and up for meeting some new people. And what better way to do that, than Tinder?“

“They’d happily settled into each other lives, but at this point, there was no official title. You see, Kelly had laid down the law. If Sam wanted her to be his girlfriend, he had to ask over a steak dinner.
In November, just two months after meeting for the first time, they headed to the Goldcoast for their very first holiday together. And while they were there, Sam took Kelly out for a steak dinner.“

“The story of Lily and David. It all began with a race between one of our bridesmaids, Alex and Cupid. It was 2013 at UNSW and Al and David were both studying Mining Engineering. She had begun thinking this guy was perfect… for her friend Lily.

Unfortunately for Al, she didn’t know about this race. So when the mid-semester party came around, Cupid started aiming his bow and arrow.

Lil, dressed suitably as a mermaid for the ‘Under the Sea’ theme, and Dave dressed as himself, found each other at Roundhouse. Cupid shot that arrow, and these two found themselves sharing a dancefloor kiss.”

On Sunday I was lucky enough to marry two of my beautiful friends at the very same place they became engaged. The rain stopped just in time and we were blessed with the most beautiful afternoon.

“It was March 2017 and the dating landscape had begun to change. Swiping left and right was the new thing. AJ swiped right, Jake swiped right, and a little pop-up message appeared confirming, “It’s a Match!”

They chatted back and forth for a couple of weeks before Jake proposed a breakfast date. He gave AJ three scenery options, beach, boats or bay. AJ opted for ‘boats’ and soon they found themselves meeting at the Wickham Boatshed on their very first date.“

“It was 2009, they were both 14 years old and in year 9 at high school. At McDonald’s, Cal’s shifts were typically out the back.

At that time, he considered himself a bit of a boys boy, and wouldn’t dare get a girlfriend and let his mates down… but there was this girl who always worked on the drive-thru, who he thought was pretty cute.

Her name was Gabi. And she thought Cal seemed like a bit of a know-it-all and needed to rethink his hairstyle.”

“It was 2009, and Sinead and Callum were stepping onto the grounds of Waratah High School, the very place where they would meet the person they would one day marry.
Through years 7 and 8, they had a few classes together. But it wasn’t until 2011, when they were in year 9, that this friendship became a little closer. They would both head home after school, hop online and chat on MSN.
They had both developed a little crush - and so, on the 1st of July 2011, Callum walked up to Sinead during a school break and asked her out.”

On Saturday, my old friend, Sarah married her man, and it was so incredible to be part of their day.

“Sarah and Jake had a lot of mutual friends and seemed to keep running into each other at social events and parties. Sometime in 2015, they found themselves both single, at a party… making out.

Soon they had planned their very first trip away together. To the place where are all standing as we speak, the beautiful town of Bellingen. It was on this trip Sarah realised she was in love with Jake. That feeling you cannot fully describe, but when you know you know.”
