our whole hearts. Our journey at Maxi-Jazz Dance Studio started with founder Maxine Johnson in 1987, originally known as Maxi-Jazz School Of Dance. Maxine created a studio culture full of love, support, amazing performance opportunities for all students, and a leader in the dance industry for over 20 years. In 2007, Maxine’s daughter, Ylanda Robinson took over as Principal, continuing to lead the studio to new heights and continuing the family culture and opportunities for the thousands of families that have passed through the doors over the past 30 years, and as what is now know as Maxi-Jazz Dance Studio. Maxi-Jazz was the original studio in the Newcastle area to develop and create wonderful events for our families including movie nights, pizza parties, discos and more! We're proud to bring our unique CAMP experiences to our students and families. This trend has now caught on over the past few years and allowed us to truly deliver a magical experience for our students with many years of pathing the way for others. We have learned, grown, and developed so much over the past 33 years and will continue to share our passion for the performing arts, lead the way in ‘doing things differently’ for dance studios, and empower students to become more than they ever imagined possible.

Join us for an afternoon of trying new things, building confidence, and gaining strength! Learn exciting skills with aerial silks and trapeze, juggling, hoops, tumbling, and more!
4:00 PM - 5:30 PM: Little Cirque and Acro Workshop (ages 3-6 years)
5:45 PM - 7:15 PM: Dance Cirque and Acro Workshop (recommended for ages 7-13 years)

Here at Maxi-Jazz we believe that we offer a quality dance education for all students and we’re proud to stand behind our curriculum and classes.
We understand that choosing the right dance studio for your family is important, and that’s why we’re offering all NEW students to Maxi-Jazz an Introductory Month with a Money-Back Guarantee! We are sure that you will love our teachers, classes and feel a part of our dance family straight away.

As new students and their families enter our MJDS dance family, they will be welcomed and supported by our nurturing team. Each student will settle in their classes and become familiar with their new environment, teachers, and class curriculum over these first few weeks, which is why we offer this introductory month, instead of just one lesson.

However, if after one month you feel the student did not receive any positive outcome and gain confidence within the classroom, we will happily refund you your monthly fee.

Important Update: EP Placement Day Rescheduled to WEDNESDAY 18TH DECEMBER!

Due to the extremely high temperatures expected on Tuesday, the team here at MJDS have decided to move EP Placement Day to Wednesday to ensure the best possible experience for everyone.
With lots of bodies in the room, we want to make sure everyone stays comfortable, enjoys the day to the fullest whilst keeping everyone’s health and safety at the forefront.

We understand that this is a last minute change however with the forecasted 38 degrees weather and a very full placement, we want to ensure that each student is at their best to ensure safety across stunts, group work and performance! We feel it’s best to move if to the Wednesday where is predicted to have a cooler change!

Thank you for your understanding. Please don’t hesitate to contact us if this new date affects you, and we can direct you to our 2nd Chance Placement on the 15th of January to be placed in the already established teams from our first placement day.
