Hello Spring! 💛

It’s that time of year again, and I’m so excited to be rolling into another busy spring season.

If you’re new here, let me reintroduce myself… I became a celebrant after spending most of my career working in weddings & events, and so when the time came to welcome our girls (Matilda now 5 & Lexie 3) it felt like the perfect pivot to take my favourite part of the wedding industry (that’s the relationships, people & stories by the way) and to make that my focus. I’m so lucky that I get to call this my full time job!

I wanted to bring what I had learnt from my years behind the scenes as a coordinator, and channel that into creating moments that are memorable for all of the right reasons.

My approach is always to reflect the personalities and stories of my couples in a genuine way, and I do that by capturing the audience, crafting words, executing engagement and coordinating the ceremony so it feels seamless.

Will there be clapping, cheering, personality and laughter? absolutely! But there will also be an air of sophistication, polish, and lots of heartfelt sentiment in the moments that matter.

Jasmine, Finn and the butterflies 🦋

One of the most touching acknowledgments of late grandparents I have done was at Jasmine & Finn’s beautiful Yandina Station wedding.

When I met with them a few months prior to their wedding, it was Jasmine’s idea to do a butterfly release, representing each of their four late grandparents at that time. I then received the news from Jas that her grandmother Elaine had also passed only a few weeks prior to their day, so their would now sadly be five butterflies and she wanted to keep this detail a surprise for her parents.

Following a sweet mention of them all, Jas released four butterflies who wasted no time fluttering away, but the fifth decided to stay with us, settling in on her beautiful ceremony florals for the remainder of the ceremony.

I think it goes without saying, this was definitely Elaine’s way of letting Jas know she was still there on her day.

Congratulations again Jasmine & Finn! You day was so beautiful in so many ways 🤍

The Off Season ✨

Where have I been? I’ve been in this mystical place we call ‘The Off Season’. The irony is, that it actually tends to be my busiest time of the year!

Why you ask…? Because as a celebrant, the vast majority of our workload actually happens a few months out from the weddings themselves. I coordinate my admin this way, so that in the months I’m not too busy with wedding days (here’s looking at you June & July) I’m busy hustling with back to back meetings, ceremony writing and admin, so that when the wedding’s start (hello August - November) I’m already ahead of the game, organised and ready to be as composed and relaxed as possible when the wedding days themselves are coming at me thick & fast.

With almost all of my meetings done through until November, and most of my writing through until October, I’m now getting so excited to do what I love best and that’s the wedding days themselves!

I will admit, it has also been the silly season for the wedding industry and we’ve been getting a little loose at a few functions, celebrations & networking events of late (not going to deny it).

Happy first day of August everyone and officially the day wedding season kicks off for me!

Laura & Toby’s Incredible Old Diary Maleny Wedding, and what a day this was! These two celebrated their fabulous day alongside their four beautiful children, and this wedding had it all. The all black dress-code added to the sophistication of this fabulous soirée, the ceremony was full of laughter and tears, there was a bouncy castle, the most epic sunset, and even a tattoo artist!

Happy International Women’s Day 💚

To all of the incredible woman of whom I’m so lucky to work beside and call friends, this is for you…

You inspire the heck out of me on the daily, and my goodness I feel lucky to be in an industry and location surrounded by gal pals (and also a few fabulous token men) that lift us up, inspires creativity, rewards the hustle, and is are just so much fun.

There are so many of you, you know who you are and here is a prime example of two of my favourite work wives. Anyone from the outside would think we would be in competition, but we have created a community that overrides that notion by a long shot.

Thank you for supporting me and my business, from lead referrals to inspiration, setting the bar higher for all of us to do better or simply being there for a car rant, life rant, or debrief on our way to or from a wedding.

And for those asking, it was pure coincidence that we all showed up to this event wearing green! You know what they say about great minds. 😉😘

Ceremony Music 🤍

Look, I’ll preface this by saying that nothing ever compares to live music. HOWEVER if you decide to play your ceremony music from a playlist, who controls this? …I’m so glad you asked.

In the circumstance that you don’t have live music booked for your ceremony, I’m here to help. I typically cover this with you in your details meeting, I’ll ask for your chosen tracks of which there are typically three: processional, signing & recessional, I download them to my iTunes library and can control your music myself from my iPad mini which connects by Bluetooth to my Bose speakers. Nobody even knows I’m doing it!

I’m also happy to pop on a pre-ceremony playlist (I have my own all ready to roll) 30 mins before your ceremony while guests are arriving.

The weekend is almost upon us! Can you see how excited I am about this cone of gelato? (At first I thought it was champagne too) But let me tell you, I’m even more excited about all of the fabulous couples I’m set to meet this weekend!

Two Couples Two Months Apart 🤍

How good is this! I married the fabulous Jasmine & Finn at Yandina Station in September, then Kate & Mitchell at Maleny Manor in November, all in one another’s wedding party’s.

It feels quite often now that I’m bumping into couples I’ve previously married at weddings. Often it’s due to recommendation, or because they found me first hand at their friends wedding. This one was purely coincidental!

Swinging into 2024 🤍

Following a fabulous 2023 with just a handful shy of 100 weddings for the year, I’ll be pulling back a little in 2024 in order to find that work / life balance.

I see committing to fewer numbers as an opportunity to further challenge myself creatively and to continue fine tuning my attention to detail, enabling me to bring even more to those incredible couples I will be working with.

As such, dates are limited for 2024 and bookings are now officially open for the 2025 seasons also.

Wishing the Happiest New Year to all of my couples to date, and to those I will be marrying in 2024.

A Moment For The Kids 🤍

I’m going to be honest… nothing much surprises me these days, but my goodness did these kids make an impression!

It was really important to include all four of Laura & Toby’s children in their day. When it came to the two eldest, Hugo & Lucca who were very soon to be Toby’s stepsons, I first asked their authority for me to marry Mum to Toby, so with a joint ‘I Do’ from them both, I was given the go ahead to officially make them family.

After giving their blessing, they got up and surprised Toby with a few words of their own and my goodness did they nail the brief! Firstly, I don’t think I have ever witnessed kids of their age stand up in front of 100 people and speak so eloquently without even batting an eyelid. Secondly, the speech they prepared was both hilarious and heartfelt, they were so entertaining and left everyone (especially Toby) fighting back tears.

Congratulations Laura & Toby, you should be so proud of these little legends!

Rainy Day Don’t Care 🌧️

How gorgeous are these pics of Rachel & Jake when it rained… I mean, bucketed down during their ceremony?!

Thanks to their incredible team, yes there was just a short moment of ‘oh heck’ when the heavens opened up, but with brolly’s handed out within moments, the rain wasn’t dampening anyone’s spirits!
