Evening Swingers on Saturday 3rd we had 14 players travelled to Jamestown to compete in the 3rd and final round of the Jim Davis Memorial Triangular event. There were were a total or 48 players playing for the ultimate glory in taking out this annual event.

Best afield for Orroroo was Matt Dignan who managed to score a very solid 36 points. Even with Matt's 36 it wasn't enough to hang onto our slender lead and handed over the shield to eventual winners Jamestown. Final standings were

JAMESTOWN 29.97

ORROROO 29.86

PETERBOROUGH 29.33

The winner of the Harvey/Ackland/Beyer Shield with an aggregate score of 105 points over the three rounds was Mal Squire from Peterborough.

Thanks to all clubs for the support during these events.

Don't forget the Orroroo Farmers Day on Friday 9th August.

Evening Swingers. After a few busy days golfing, we have some results from the weekend and championship rounds.

Saturday 27th there was 18 keen swingers out there to challenge themselves in fine conditions. The course is beginning to look good, however a good soaking would benefit it greatly.

Winner of the day was Paul Gameau, who carded a very consistent 68 off the stick ( par )
to out do the talented town sportsman Ian Barton on a count back.

One B grade semi final was played between John Sheehan and club youngster Ajay White, with the chocolates going to Ajay with a win of 3 up 1 to play. Great effort

A GRADE winner Paul Gameau 68 /67
B GRADE WINNER Ian Barton 91/67

L/D on 5 Stuart Shute

NTP on 14 Denise Williams
NTP on 3 N/A

On Sunday 28th the club entered 4 teams into the Northern Group Pennants day held at Snowtown. With near perfect conditions and 19 teams playing the day was set out perfectly, however it turned out that it wasn't our day with none of our teams featuring on the podium.

Winners if the day in the A grade were Port Pirie 1 who had a total of 315 to take the sheild off us as previous winners from last year.

B Grade winners were playing a stableford comp and the winners were Jamestown 1.

Highlights for the day and congratulations to Wilbur, who managed a hole in 1 on no.2, apparently he kept a calm head until he was looking into the cup and seen the ball.
Also Simon Pinky McNamara won the B grade Long drive with simo showing the field he still has the length
Thanks to all that played, drive their cars and represented the club, these are fun days and our club always supports these events

Club Championships continued on today with the 2 remaining semi finals being played.

The consistent Paul Gameau played the inform Matt Dignan and although Gam was 5 up after 9, Diggo showed he still had the fight in him to take it to the 14th hole with Gam eventually winning 5/4.

The other match was between Snowy and Simon Vege Jones. A close match all day with the score even after 9 holes. Snowy was lucky enough to come home with the win, winning 2 up 1 to play.

Championship final to be played on Sunday 11th August. Cheers for now

Evening Swingers
Results from Saturday 13th July, conditions were not at their best which also reflected in the scores with no one playing to their handicap.
We had 14 players out for the Stableford comp with a closely contested 4 way countback between Simon "Slimey dog" McNamara, Isaac the state bowler Jesser", Shutey and the best of them all was our club secretary Jason "Woody"Wood who came out the hardest. He managed a respectable 34 points to take out the day.
A Grade winner was all the way from Eurelia the big man Shute who managed 34 only to play second fiddle to his beloved brother in law Woody who won the B Grade.

Long drive on 11 was Woody again, proving to the field he has more length than the rest of them when it matters.

NTP on 3 John Sheehan
NTP on 6 all failed to hit it on the putting surface

Cheers El Captain Snowy ⛳️

Golf Report
On the 6th of July, we had 15 players tee off in considerably windy conditions. While most players found the conditions to be troublesome, there were a few that thrived.

The winner of the day was one of our young teenage sensation, Ajay White. He shot an impressive and personal best score of 75, with a 63 net.

Another player who made light work of the windy conditions was Paul Gameau, who took out top spot for the A GRADE with a very respectable 68, with a 67 net. This continues the great form he has been in this year.

Along with winning the day, Ajay also won the B GRADE competition.

Longest drive was placed on hole 1, and was won by Isaac Jesser.

The nearest to pins were located on holes 2 and 6 and were both taken out by Ajay White.

We had 3 championship matches played on the weekend. The first match was played by Veg and Jacko, where Veg showed him how to massage a winning score being 6 up with 5 to play.

The other A GRADE match was played by Gameau and Roundy Smith. Gameau continued his great form and was too much for Roundy, winning 4 up with 3 to play.

The only B GRADE match was played between Jarryd Papps the new kid on the block and the former grade Champion Rastas. Jarryd showing the butcher how to carve it up winning 8 up with 7 to play.

Next week’s competition is STABLEFORD, with our starter being Jarryd Papps.

Happy Golfing,
Captain Snowy

On saturday we massed 13 men and 3 ladies out of 47 for the second round triangular at Peterborough. Although conditions were not very favorable for ducks let alone us golfers, we continued on with high hopes of playing to our handicaps. Most golfers couldn't wait to return to the clubhouse for a well deserved beverage and lovely hot meal, second to our ladies of course. Thanks to Dave for driving the bus and returning all passengers safe n sound and those who drove their cars.

Best on the day for Orroroo was Paul Gameau and Ajay White both with 31 points. 160 smackeroos was up for grabs for the highest Stableford points, although Gam pipped Ajay on a count back his very generous nature was on show by splitting the spondooly.
Results for the day

Orroroo avg 25.38
Peterborough avg 28.33
Jamestown avg 27.20

Current standings are after the 2 rounds
Orroroo 29.44
Jamestown 29.04
Peterborough 28.86

Thanks to everyone who played and we look forward to the 3rd round at Jamestown on August 3rd where hopefully we can hold on and claim back to back Harvey Bayer Ackland sheild.

Cheers captain Snowy ⛳️
